Area student gets lead role in film alongside ‘The Walking Dead' star
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A West Liberty-Salem High School student is set to appear in an independent film shot in California and Florida. Our partners at the Urbana Daily Citizen reported Collin Thompson, a senior at the school, has the lead role as Freddy in 'Hacked: A Double Entendre of Rage Fueled Karma.' According to the Citizen, the film shows a family targeted by a cybercriminal that takes over their life savings and all digital aspects in their lives. IMDb shows Thompson is starring alongside Chandler Riggs, who played Carl Grimes in AMC's 'The Walking Dead,' Richard Riehle, who played Tom Smykowski in 'Office Space' and Jaime Moyer, who played Jodie Goldfeder in 'K.C. Undercover.' The film is reportedly in the film festival process to see if a streaming platform would choose to secure a deal. If that happens, the film could have a global audience. Trinitee Stokes: From Disney star to multi-hyphenate powerhouse at 18
Trinitee Stokes, an 18-year-old actress, author and singer-songwriter, is reshaping what it means to be a multi-hyphenate creative — and doing it all before most people finish undergrad. Why it matters: In a culture that rewards specialization, Stokes is building a career defined by range. Most people are expected to pick a lane; she's choosing the whole highway. "I'm a supernova," she told Axios. "I can't breathe to do anything else... I leak creativity. It's how I communicate, empower, and share." Now, she's expanding her creative reach — turning her focus to music, authorship and public speaking as tools for storytelling and impact. The former Disney star's country debut single, " Write You Off," is set to be released on Tuesday. Catch up quick: Stokes broke through as a child star on Disney Channel's "K.C. Undercover" and voiced a beloved character on "Doc McStuffins." Since then, she's published her first book, graduated from Emerson College at 18 and interned at the U.S. State Department. State of play: The singer, actress, public speaker and published author was the youngest student ever accepted by Emerson and completed her political communication degree in 2.5 years. Zoom out: While some might see singing and songwriting as a new path, Stokes says it has been a constant state of expression. "I was singing and songwriting before I ever got on TV," she told Axios. "Now it's just back in rotation." She primarily sings country — her first radio love thanks to her dad — but writes across genres, drawing from her complete creative vocabulary. Zoom in: She's also held roles on "Mixed-ish," "Dear White People," "Snowfall" and more — a résumé that rivals veterans in the industry. Between the lines: Stokes doesn't separate her creativity from her intellect or ambition. She's a disciplined goal-setter who wakes up early, splits her days between creativity and administrative tasks and builds vision boards as big as her ideas. "I love completing things," she says. "I get a thrill from it." Stokes is also a global speaker and youth advocate, often uplifting young women and encouraging them to see individuality as a gift. "Pray as though everything depended on God," she says. "Work as though everything depended on you." And she's deeply self-aware about the pace she keeps. "Sometimes people think I don't have direction because I'm doing so much. But I know exactly what I'm doing — I'm doing everything." Context: Stokes was born in Jackson, Mississippi, into a family rooted in education — her mom holds a PhD, and her dad is a professor. She graduated high school at 14, almost by accident: years of taking advanced classes added up faster than anyone expected. During the pandemic, she leveraged remote learning to pursue her college degree without pausing her career, flying back and forth between LA and Boston. She graduated from Emerson on Mother's Day 2024 — and went straight back to work. "I thought life would be more carefree after college," she says. "It's actually more intense — but I have more space to create." What we're watching: Her new book — the follow-up to "Bold and Blessed: How to Stay True to Yourself and Stand Out from the Crowd" — is in the works. Stokes is teaching herself guitar ("It's going… it's going") and still writes songs from voice memos and instinct. She points to Issa Rae and Quinta Brunson as models for how to stay true to a creative path while lifting others along the way. "I know exactly where I'm going. I'm doing everything — and I'm doing it on purpose," Stokes says. The bottom line: Stokes isn't just a former child star. She's a blueprint in motion — a young woman building the future by refusing to pick just one path.

‘Euphoria' Season 3 adds Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch and Kadeem Hardison
Days after teasing the start of production on the long-anticipated third season of 'Euphoria,' HBO announced some starry additions to the cast. The network revealed Friday that the cast would be growing, with singer Rosalía, actor and former NFL player Marshawn Lynch, 'A Different World' alum Kadeem Hardison and several others joining the series. Much of the main cast is returning, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Eric Dane, Maude Apatow and Colman Domingo. Nika King and Algee Smith will not be back for the new season. According to Variety, Dominic Fike will also be returning, although his name was left off the HBO announcement. Barbie Ferreira had previously said she would not be returning, as she and show creator Sam Levinson agreed her character's storyline had naturally ended. Storm Reid also said she would not be coming back to the show. The cast additions got the internet buzzing Friday, especially thanks to a photo of Rosalía in character wearing a bedazzled neck brace that was included in the streamer's Instagram post. Rosalía and Schafer briefly dated in 2019, also stirring online interest in the announcement. The role marks the Grammy winner's first major acting gig. 'If there's anything that excites me as much as creating a good melody or writing a great lyric it's becoming a better performer every day,' Rosalía said in a statement Friday. ''Euphoria' has been my favorite series over the last few years, and I couldn't be happier and more grateful to be acting alongside all of these incredibly talented people that I admire so much and contributing my 'granito de arena' to bring Sam's vision to reality to make magic. I can't wait to share what we're doing!!!' She signed the statement, 'Besitos, Rosi.' Lynch, a former Seattle Seahawks running back, began acting about a decade ago and has appeared in the HBO series 'Westworld,' and recent films 'Bottoms' and 'Love Hurts.' 'I'm hella juiced about the show and getting a chance to work with the people in front and behind the camera. At the end of the day, I'm just thankful for the opportunity,' he said in a statement. Hardison will reunite with his former onscreen daughter, Zendaya, from the Disney Channel show 'K.C. Undercover.' 'I was over the moon when I heard the news that I booked it. It's amazing to be back on set with Z. She and I formed a tight friendship while shooting 'K.C. Undercover' and we've stayed close, so this is truly special,' he said in a statement. Hardison also noted he and the rest of the cast are 'very happy' to be shooting in Los Angeles, especially in the wake of the recent wildfires that have shaken up the industry. 'Our hearts go out to everyone affected and here's to hoping more productions follow suit and come back to Los Angeles to shoot,' he said in his statement. There's also new additions behind the scenes, with renowned costume designer Colleen Atwood coming on as a co-producer. Natasha Newman-Thomas is joining as a costume designer and François Audouy will serve as a production designer. Other new cast members include Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Priscilla Delgado, James Landry Hébert and Anna Van Patten. Season 3 is expected to premiere in 2026 — four years after the release of the second season.
