Telangana to develop eco-town inspired by Japanese city Kitakyushu
Telangana will establish an eco-town spanning 80 acres, modelled after Japan's Kitakyushu city. The state government and Kitakyushu city signed a cooperative agreement Monday to strengthen relations, boost inclusive economic growth, achieve zero emissions, and promote urban innovation. Stating that he studied the development model in Kitakyushu city during his recent tour of Japan, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the eco-town model in the city is inspiring. The state government has signed agreements with numerous Japanese companies to develop a similar model in Hyderabad, he said. CM Reddy also explained the new skill development programmes for the youth launched by the government, as well as the interest shown by Telangana students in learning the Japanese language to explore opportunities in Japan, during the meeting. Minister for Information Technology and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu highlighted that Telangana is actively promoting increased Japanese investment in the state. Already, 50 youth from Telangana have secured employment opportunities in Japan. To facilitate more such opportunities, the government, through institutions such as the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM), is offering Japanese language training. In the presence of Kitakyushu City Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi, he stated that Telangana will collaborate with Kitakyushu on several forward-looking initiatives, including net-zero targets, riverfront development, circular economy practices, clean technologies, and digital innovation. He also said the state envisions the upcoming Future City as a benchmark in environmental sustainability, with a focus on developing eco-friendly industrial zones, implementing zero-waste design principles, and utilising advanced water and waste management systems. Minister Babu added that the feasibility of introducing direct flight services between Hyderabad and Kitakyushu will be explored to further strengthen bilateral ties. He concluded by outlining the favourable industrial ecosystem present in Telangana and urged Japanese industrialists to consider investing in the state.

Drawing inspiration from the model of Kitakyushu City in Japan and as part of its focus on sustainable development, Telangana government will establish an Eco-Town across 80 acres, Industries and IT Minister Babu said here on Monday. The State government of Telangana will also be collaborating with Kitakyushu on several forward-looking initiatives, including Net Zero targets, riverfront development, circular economy practices, clean technologies and digital innovation, the Minister told a conference in which the Japanese city's Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi also participated. Telangana is envisioning the upcoming Future City as a benchmark in environmental sustainability with a focus on the development of eco-friendly industrial zones, zero-waste design principles and advanced water and waste management systems, he said. Seeking to highlight how Telangana is actively promoting Japanese investment in the State, the Minister said the feasibility of introducing direct flight services between Hyderabad and Kitakyushu will be explored to further strengthen bilateral ties. He urged Japanese industrialists to consider investing in view of the favourable industrial ecosystem in Telangana. The government's sustained efforts over the past 18 months had resulted in securing Rs.3 lakh crore investments from various leading corporations globally. CM sets $3 trillion economy target for T by 2047 when India turns 100
1 2 Hyderabad: On the occasion of the 11th Telangana Formation Day on Monday, chief minister A Revanth Reddy set a new target of making the state a $3 trillion economy by 2047 and increasing its contribution to the GDP from 5% to 10%. Speaking at the Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds, the CM presented the progress report of the 16-month-old Congress govt and sought the cooperation of all political parties, bureaucracy, industrialists and all sections in the state to make Telangana number one in the country. He said the state govt was working in mission mode to ensure that Telangana plays a pivotal role in developing India into a $30 trillion economy by 2047 when the country would celebrate its Independence centenary. "As part of it, the Telangana Rising 2047 action plan has been prepared to turn the state into a $1 trillion economy in the next 10 years and $3 trillion by 2047. The govt has plans to not only develop Telangana as the number one state in the country but also make it capable of competing with the world," the CM said. The state govt has already inked agreements with companies for more than Rs 3 lakh crore investments. IT giants such as Google, Microsoft, Cognizant, and HCL were already expanding their operations in Hyderabad, he said, adding that this was the first step under 'Telangana Rising' project. "Plans are in the pipeline to develop Hyderabad on a par with other developed metros in the world. A Future City is also being developed in 30,000 acres with state-of-the-art facilities which will be a destination for investments from around the world. AI City, Pharma City, Sports City, Life Sciences and Health City are also being developed," he said. Pointing to the bills on 42% quota for backward classes and SC categorisation, the CM said Congress govt rectified the wrongdoings of the previous govt (BRS) which had failed to fulfil the aspirations of people despite being in power since state formation in 2014. Earlier, the CM paid tributes to Telangana martyrs at Gun Park near the assembly before going to Parade Grounds in Secunderabad where he hoisted the national flag and inspected the parade. CM honours poets, writers, cops CM A Revanth Reddy presented a cash reward of Rs 1 crore each to nine eminent persons including folk singers, writers, artists and poets who played a crucial role in the statehood agitation. They include Ande Sri, Aekka Yadagiri Rao, Suddala Ashok Teja, Jayaraju, Pasham Yadagiri, Goreti Venkanna, and posthumously to balladeer Gaddar, Bandi Yadagiri and Guda Anjaiah. The awards of Gaddar and Anjaiah were collected by their families, while there was no one present from Yadagiri's family. Venkanna's award was received by his daughter as he is on a foreign tour. The prestigious Kaloji Sahitya Puraskaram was presented to Nalimela Bhaskar. As many as 19 police officers were presented with Medals for Gallantry and 11 other officers with Medal for Meritorious Service by the CM.

Govt. signs MoU with Japan's Kitakyushu City to boost eco-growth and urban innovation
In a significant step towards international cooperation, the Telangana government and Kitakyushu City of Japan signed a cooperative agreement on Monday (June 2) aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and promoting inclusive economic growth, zero-emission initiatives and urban innovation. Welcoming the Japanese delegation led by Kitakyushu City Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed delight and recalled his recent visit to Japan, where he had the opportunity to study the development model of Kitakyushu. He noted that the city's innovative eco-town model served as a major inspiration for Telangana's plans as well. 'We have signed agreements with several Japanese companies to replicate a similar eco-town model in Hyderabad,' he stated. Highlighting the importance of the newly inked cooperative agreement, Mr. Revanth Reddy said he was optimistic that the collaboration would lead to the creation of a comprehensive ecosystem for sustainable economic development. 'This partnership will help us achieve inclusive growth, zero-emission goals and foster urban innovation,' he added. During the meeting, the Chief Minister also briefed the Japanese delegation on Telangana's ongoing Musi River rejuvenation project, aimed at environmental conservation and economic asset creation. He shared that there is a growing interest among Telangana students to learn the Japanese language, with many eager to explore employment and educational opportunities in Japan. Mr. Revanth Reddy requested support from the Japanese delegation to help train students in Japanese. The CM also revealed plans to improve air connectivity between Hyderabad and Kitakyushu, stating that such links would bolster tourism, trade and exchange programmes.

Delegation from Japan in Telangana for formation day celebrations
HYDERABAD: For the first time, representatives from a foreign country will participate in the Telangana Formation Day celebrations. A Japanese delegation led by Kazuhisa Takeuchi, mayor of Kitakyushu City, has arrived in Hyderabad ahead of Monday's event. It may be recalled that during his recent visit to Japan, Revanth toured Kitakyushu and extended a formal invitation to the mayor to attend the celebrations. Meanwhile, the government has made elaborate arrangements for the celebrations. As per schedule, the CM is expected to pay tribute at the Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park around 9.30 am. He will then proceed to Parade Ground at 9.55 am. At 10 am, Revanth will unfurl the national flag. This will be followed by a ceremonial march past by various contingents and a public address by the chief minister. CM to present cash awards During the event, the CM will present cash awards to nine eminent individuals or their family members, as announced on December 9, 2024, during the unveiling of the new Telangana Talli statue at the Secretariat. Additionally, he will confer 19 Gallantry Medals, two President's Medals for Distinguished Service, and 11 Medals for Meritorious Service to police personnel.
