Axed Coronation Street star hints his character HASN'T been killed off and could make shock return to soap

AXED Coronation Street star has dropped a major hint that his character is not dead in a shock twist. Corrie's PC Craig Tinker might not be out for the count just yet - actor Colson Smith has teased his character could survive the brutal attack that left him motionless. 6 6 Fans of the ITV soap were left shocked as the beloved character was brutally attacked and left for dead in Monday's episode. The much-loved Weatherfield resident was caught in a violent showdown, which left their life hanging in the balance. Viewers saw Mick Michaelis go on a furious rampage after finding out that 16-year-old Brody might not be his biological son. Mick turned violent as he demanded answers from wife Lou Michaelis about her past with their former pal, Kit Green. Viewers got an upsetting insight into Lou's domestic abuse from Mick - which left the residents on the cobbles worried for Lou's safety. Meanwhile, Craig was determined to prove himself on the first day of his CID training. He pulled over Mick at the Weatherfield Precinct for drink-driving. Hellbent on getting revenge on Kit, Mick violently attacked Craig with a bat and left him for dead. However, the actor has hinted that his character Craig could be very much still be alive. Taking to X - formerly Twitter - Colson wrote: "He's just sleeping…" after the episode aired last night. One fan replied: "You better just be sleeping!! I'm gonna have a mega tantrum if you don't come back from this!!" Another added: "If this is how you leave it's unacceptable, national tragedy #Corrie #coronationstreet" A third joked: "Lazy bugger, sleeping on the job!!" Wednesday's episode of Corrie will see Craig rushed to hospital and desperately try to make his police colleagues aware of who was responsible for attacking him. Corrie cash crisis: shock exits for 2025 ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap. This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama. Colson Smith - Craig Tinker The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig's on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role. Sue Cleaver - Eileen Grimshaw After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I'm A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she's already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future. Luca Toolan - Mason Radcliffe Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him. Sue Devaney - Debbie Webster In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline. Charlotte Jordan - Daisy Midgeley The actress became the fifth star to leave Coronation Street in just one month. We revealed that she will bow out of the ITV soap later this year after four years on-screen. Charlotte told sources that she's hungry to see what other opportunities await. Shelley King - Yasmeen Metcalfe The actress has played Yasmeen Metcalfe on the cobbles for the past 11 years and we revealed in January that she finished filming her final scenes. This follows the departure of her on-screen partner Stu Carpenter. Colson said: "I can't wait for people to see Craig's final scenes. It is exactly the exit I wanted for him and we are all really proud of what we filmed in those final weeks. "It was actually great fun. I was walking around covered in fake blood for days and I was chuffed that I got to work with so many brilliant people in this final storyline." Back in March, The Sun revealed how Colson's character Craig would be killed off in a dramatic storyline. A source told us: "Craig has grown up on the street and he's become part of it so it was a tough decision to make but one that will be worth it. "PC Tinker will meet his maker in heroic circumstances this summer and there won't be a dry eye in the house when it goes out. "Colson is taking it well and there's a real feeling that this chapter is closing for him and there are bigger and brighter things ahead." The 26-year-old actor was one of several stars who have been axed from the ITV soap. Corrie is gearing up for a number of exits for some iconic characters this summer, including Eileen Grimhshaw is set to exit the cobbles with actress Sue Cleaver quitting the soap after an incredible 25 years. The soap has already seen several characters depart the cobbles from the likes of Daisy Midgeley to Mason Radcliffe. ITV is facing a financial crisis due to soaring production costs, a decline in advertising revenue, and a drop in viewing figures, leading to budget cuts and cast departures. Consequently, the broadcaster is reducing the length of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale episodes from hour-long to 30-minute installments, starting in January 2026. This change will create a "soaps power hour" where Emmerdale airs at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8:30pm each weeknight. But with ratings falling and viewers switching to streamers like Netflix, more soap stars are fearing the axe - should they be worried? Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX. 6 6 6 6

Coronation Street's Kit Green's dark secret revealed as the dodgy cop is hit with TWO bombshells

CORONATION Street's Kit Green's dark secret has been exposed - and he faces the ruin of his own life. The corrupt detective - who is played by actor James Roberts in the ITV soap - has had a connection to troublesome newcomers Mick and Lou. 3 3 3 And in today's episode it has been revealed. The three were pals as teenagers and while messing around with a shopkeeper, Kit felt aggrieved and took revenge by setting off fireworks in the locked shop after he left. However the man's wife was inside and Kit and Mick listened as she screamed in agony at the burns. Kit fled and Mick was caught and Kit let him take the blame - but now he's holding it over the cop and threatening to ruin his life and career. Mick decided to also torment Bernie but let slip a little too much in an effort to bulldoze their relationship too. But when Bernie walked in and demanded the truth, Kit buckled. He told her about Mick's blackmail and how he was going to ruin his life after all this time. And when Bernie asked what Mick had done - she was shocked that it was Kit who was responsible for the arson that left the shopkeeper with third degreee burns. He told his biological mum: 'I didn't even know he had a wife. She had these third degree burns and the screaming. 'I should've gone down for it. I shouldn't have been allowed to join the force anyway. Shock moment Coronation Street's David and Shona walk in on a NAKED Sarah and Kit - kicking off explosive row 'So I lied, and lied, and lied. Let my best mate take the wrap.' But that wasn't the only secret to emerge. While Mick was locked up for a crime he didn't commit, Kit compounded the wound by sleeping with his girlfriend Lou. And worst of all - that resulted in a child who Lou passed off as Mick's for all these years. Darkest soap storylines Over the years the likes of EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock... EastEnders: Tony grooming Whitney (2008-2009) - Tony King first appeared in Albert Square in 2008 as the boyfriend of Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer. But it was quickly revealed he was a paedophile who had been grooming vulnerable Whitney, Bianca's adopted stepdaughter from a previous relationship, since she was 12. The shocking storyline attracted more than 200 complaints within a week of it beginning. Whitney waited until her 16th birthday to reveal the truth to a horrified Bianca, who called the police. Emmerdale: Holly's drug addiction and shock death (2010-2016) - In 2010, Holly Barton (played by Sophie Powles) became Emmerdale's first teenage drug addict. The shocking storyline saw her taking cocaine on a night out before developing a deadly heroin habit. Parents John and Moira desperately tried to help get their daughter clean but when Holly returned in 2016, following a four-year absence, she quickly relapsed. Fans were left stunned and heartbroken when distraught Moira found Holly dead in her bed from a heroin overdose. Hollyoaks: Luke's rape (2000) - Actor Gary Lucy was just 17 when he took on this groundbreaking storyline, which saw his character Luke Morgan become soap's first male rape victim. Luke had endured a long-running bullying campaign by football rival Mark Gibbs - who raped him after Luke stood up to him. Luke was left suicidal following the brutal attack, before opening up to his brother Adam. Gibbs was sentenced to eight years in prison. Gary won the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards in 2000 for his performance. Coronation Street: Evil Richard Hillman (2001-2003) - Just a mere mention of 'Richard Hillman' is enough to send a shiver down the spines of soap fans. He is often ranked one of the most evil soap villains and it's not hard to see why. The smooth-talking financial adviser bashed his ex-wife Patricia over the head with a shovel. In a bid to keep his mother-in-law Audrey quiet, he set fire to her house. And when Maxine caught him trying to murder Emily Bishop, he took a crowbar to her head. He made his exit from the cobbles in 2003 when he drove Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, and her family into the canal. They survived, but he didn't. With Brody released from the STC, Mick and Lou took him to Speed Daal to celebrate where Kit ran into them. He overheard Brody's age and realised that he is Brody's biological father. But what will Kit do now and how will Mick react to his on not bing his biological son?

With Tina still alive, he attacked her with an iron bar but she survived that attack and was rushed to hospital as doctors tried to save her. Emmerdale - Who pushed Emma Barton? Emma was then pushed off a viaduct by Moira after she talked ill of her dead daughter Holly, who died of an overdose in October 2017. Realising the danger Bernie's in, she desperately pleads with Kit, revealing she tried to reach out years ago, but his mother refused to let her. Huge Coronation Street star left for dead in shocking final scenes as actor is axed from ITV soap

ONE of Coronation Street's most popular characters looks set to be left for dead in upcoming scenes. PC Craig Tinker - played by Colson Smith - will meet his demise in grisly scenes next week with a brand new promo for the programme, showing him bloodied and bruised. 7 7 7 Weatherfield looks set to be rocked by a heartbreaking 'death' as Craig will be seen fighting for his life after an utterly vicious attack at work. His final fight will be part of a special week of episodes following PC colleagues Craig and Kit Green. In a haunting new trailer, DS Lisa Swain shares a chilling thought that appeared to preempt Craig's future. She can be heard saying: 'If we knew today was our last day on earth, what would we do differently." In scenes to be aired next week, Craig is giddier than ever as he prepares to start his placement shading Kit in CID. However, as Kit continues to deal with his own run-ins with Mick and Lou, and the secrets that come to haunt him, he is busily focused on his own agenda. With Kit distracted, a series of climatic events begin to unfold on the street. Viewers will then witness a horrifying and shocking incident that will change Craig's life forever. His life will be left hanging in the balance in saddening scenes as the end appears to be nigh. The voice of DS Swain can be heard once again as she chillingly says: 'There isn't always more time.' Corrie star makes unannounced return to the soap in new role - 10 years after her debut Speaking about his exit scenes, Colson said: 'I can't wait for people to see Craig's final scenes. "It is exactly the exit I wanted for him and we are all really proud of what we filmed in those final weeks. It was actually great fun. # "I was walking around covered in fake blood for days and I was chuffed that I got to work with so many brilliant people in this final storyline.' It was revealed earlier this year that Colson had been axed from the ITV soap amid a string of high-profile exits. 7 7 The star confirmed it was not his choice to leave the show but understood soap bosses' decision. Colson confirmed that he was told he would be written out of the show after being told of the news in Autumn 2024. The actor wrote on Instagram: "Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker's time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. "I've loved every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world. I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. "I've learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. "I'm excited to play out the exit story for our Craigy. For me, this is the end of the beginning. "I genuinely can't wait to see what chapter two has in store for me." Craig's on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role. 7 7
