Krishna Shroff: I've learnt from Dad that it's not what you have but how you carry yourself with nothing that defines your strength
Krishna Shroff with her father Jackie Shroff Although Krishna Shroff comes from a place of privilege, she's always been aware of life with limited means, thanks to the stories she grew up hearing from her father, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff . That grounding, she believes, will help her navigate the upcoming reality show Chhoriyan Chali Gaon, where luxury takes a backseat and resilience is key. When the offer for the show came her way, she instinctively turned to her parents. In a conversation with Mumbai Mirror, she shares, 'My dad especially was incredibly supportive. He has really lived that life and continues to lead a genuinely simple lifestyle. He is a minimalist, and he believes this experience will be a huge learning curve for me. He knows it will help me grow as a person and was the one who truly pushed me to go for it. ' Jackie Shroff has often spoken openly about his humble beginnings, growing up in a chawl, sharing a common bathroom, and never letting fame disconnect him from those roots. That upbringing continues to influence Krishna's values. She says, 'He always proudly says he is from Teen Batti, and if he could, he would still live there. Even after the success of Hero (1983), when he and my mom got married, there was just one bathroom in the entire society. They would still wait in line. That kind of humility has shaped the values my brother Tiger and I hold today. The biggest thing I have learnt from Dad is adaptability. He can adjust to any environment and connect with people from all walks of life. That is something I admire deeply and hope to carry with me into the show.' As she prepares to swap comfort for bare necessities, Krishna feels mentally ready. 'My dad's story is the definition of resilience, and it has been a compass for me in so many ways. He grew up in a chawl, faced rejection, had nothing handed to him, yet he walked through it all with grace and humility. He has shown me that it is not what you have, but how you carry yourself when you have nothing, that defines your strength. That is the energy I am taking with me into Chhoriyan Chali Gaon. '

Krishna Shroff: 'I Only Watch My Dad Jackie And Brother Tiger Shroff's Movies'
Last Updated: Krishna Shroff joins reality show Chhoriyan Chali Gaon to embrace village life, connect with a wider audience, showcase her individuality, and adapt to rural challenges. Krishna Shroff is ready to swap city lights for village life, and she's doing it in full spirit. The fitness entrepreneur and media personality is stepping into a world far removed from her glamorous Instagram feed as one of the contestants on the upcoming reality show Chhoriyan Chali Gaon. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Krishna says she's all set to embrace the chaos and connect with a wider audience. 'It's a different show and it's a great way for me to connect to people," Krishna tells us, adding, 'You see a very small part of who I am on that platform. So I'm looking forward to showing people more aspects of my personality and who I truly am as a person. I think that'll make me more relatable to a wider audience." But Krishna isn't going in trying to blend in, she's counting on her individuality to shine. 'I'm very different compared to the other women on the show as well. And I think that's my USP and that's my strength. I embrace that uniqueness and that's what makes me interesting." When asked what sets her apart, she laughs and says, 'I mean, can I say, look at me? But honestly, I do look different. I sound different. I speak different. That's just one aspect. The deeper you get to know me, you'll realise there are so many more things about me that make me an individual for a reason." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Krishna Jackie Shroff (@kishushroff) Adapting to rural life, though, comes with its challenges especially for someone used to a plush lifestyle. 'I don't like sharing bathrooms, honestly," she confesses. 'I think there are 11 or 12 of us. As long as the girls are hygienic and keep it clean, I'm okay. Beyond that, everything else, the lifestyle switch, the change, is something I'm going to try to embrace. I signed up for this. Once I set my mind to something, I don't just go as an observer. I go as a learner," she adds. Krishna admits she hasn't lived in a village before, though she has visited her family's farmhouse. 'It's very different from what I'm expecting. But I have interacted with villagers near our farmhouse. They're amazing people, used to the simple life. I think there's so much I can learn from them, and maybe something I can teach them too," she explains. She also firmly believes the show will not be scripted. 'That's one of the reasons it intrigued me. They're taking these strong women and putting them in a completely foreign environment. The reactions can only be real. There's no way you can script that." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Krishna Jackie Shroff (@kishushroff) Of course, family reactions were mixed. 'They're used to me doing some crazy things. I'm a little bit of the black sheep of the family. My dad's very excited. My brother keeps asking if I'm sure, because he knows how much I love my comfort. For my mom, it's more about being apart for so long. We're best friends, so this will be hard." And did dad Jackie Shroff offer any survival tips? 'Oh yes", she says, further stating, 'He's given me a full book. He even asked me to come to the farm to practice different things. But I told him, I think it'll be more fun to just go there and experience it firsthand—with an open mind and heart." Asked if Khatron Ke Khiladi opened doors for her, Krishna asserts, 'I think it also just made me realise my capabilities and for me how comfortable I am in the reality space. I love the non-fiction space. I'm so comfortable being able to play just me and be who I am and put all of me out there for audiences to know and I think you know I've been so private and behind the scenes in general but the love and the admiration and the support that I've received is you know it's it motivates me to do this and it's a way for me to be able to give back to those people that support me." Krishna Shroff doesn't want to get into acting like her father and brother. She says, 'For me, I have to do things that I truly feel passionate about and things that resonate to me. Being able to be myself and just be who I am for people to see is a lot more exciting than playing a character. And also, being an actor is such a skill. It takes a lot of practice, a lot of training. It's not just like someone can wake up tomorrow and say, I want to act and be able to do it. It's a very serious and difficult profession and not everyone can do it. And at the end of the day, I'm very aware of my strengths and my weaknesses and I play to that." When asked what does she think of her brother and father's acting skills, Krishna answers, 'The only movie I watch is theirs. My dad, I think he's the finest actor today. People will probably say that I'm saying it because he's my father, but I believe it genuinely. You know, the way he's able to portray characters and bring himself into his characters to make it so authentic and natural and not put on is commendable. My brother, of course, has been able to do in such a difficult industry to break into in such a short amount of time. I have nothing but respect and admiration for both of them. To be honest, they're my motivation and they inspire me to get out of my comfort zone and do something for myself." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Krishna Jackie Shroff (@kishushroff) Krishna is someone who has lived in luxury all her life. When asked if there was a time when she ran out of money, she said, 'I've always loved money. Even back in the day, I remember in school, I would still be in school, but I would want to coach kids after school in basketball or football. And just make a dollar or two here and there. But I think at the end of the day, I don't know if this sounds materialistic or not, but money is power to me. And whether I have it or not, I'll always do something to make sure that I'm able to get it myself. If it's not something that's given to me or I already have. Because I feel like I want to be able to live life the way I choose to. And I don't want to have to dependent on anyone for that. It's a very empowering feeling as a woman today to not be able to depend on a man or anything like that, but to just solely be you and hold your own. And it's something that I do chase and I do continue to chase." First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Krishna Shroff reveals father Jackie Shroff's reaction to her participation in Choriyaan Chali Gaon; calls out fake reality show personas
Actor Jackie Shroff's daughter and Tiger Shroff's sister, Krishna Shroff, is all set to participate in Zee TV's upcoming reality show Choriyaan Chali Gaon, an adaptation of the Marathi series Chala Baai Gavat. Krishna will join 11 other female contestants as they spend two and a half months living in a village, adapting to rural life and performing village-based tasks. In a recent conversation with SCREEN, Krishna shared that her father, Jackie Shroff, was the most excited about her taking on the show. She also called out fake reality show personas Sharing how her family reacted to her participation in the show, Krishna shared, 'My dad was so excited when I shared that I was doing this show. He was more excited than he has ever been compared to other projects I have done. This is what he loves. He is excited for me to come back and be able to relate to it. My brother, on the other hand, asked me if I was sure I wanted to do this. He knows the type of person I am. If I decide to do something, I give my best at it. My mom is a bit nervous, not about the experience or concept, but she will miss me. We are best friends at the end of the day, and it's 2 and a half months away, so that's going to be a first.' She shared, 'It has been a year since I participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. Choosing to do these shows has shown me in a whole different light and the many layers I have in my personality. Right now, my audience is niche, because they don't fully know or understand who I am. It was a conscious decision to wait it out. With Khatron Ke Khiladi, it completely fit the brand. With this one, I don't think anything negative can come out of it.' A post shared by Zee TV (@zeetv) 'A lot of reality formats that are out these days force you to become a character that you are truly not. That takes away from the reality aspect. People come with this pre-planned objective. For me, reality is reality,' Krishna added. Lastly, sharing what she plans to do next, Krishna Shroff said, 'I enjoy doing this, but I am a business person, Tiger and I have co-founded an MMA Matrix Gym, which is doing quite well. We have signed 20 franchises pan-India now, including the dance academy that my brother has launched. Just spreading the message of fitness and propagating a healthy lifestyle for the youth is what drives me.'
