Jeffery Simmons returns; no L'Jarius Sneed at Tennessee Titans' minicamp
Jeffery Simmons returns; no L'Jarius Sneed at Tennessee Titans' minicamp The Tennessee Titans are starting their final mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, and have kicked off the sessions with head coach Brian Callahan addressing the media. While he outlined the goals for the three-day session, he also passed on some interesting nuggets. One of the first topics he addressed was one that should make the Titans beat writers in Nashville happy: defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons will practice with the team after skipping out on the voluntary portion of Phase 3 activities. From the outset, Callahan stated his absence was a non-issue, but as happens in media circles, the story grew legs and blossomed into more than it should have. Not only will Simmons be back in the fold, but some of the older veterans on the roster will see an increase in reps during this final set of practices. Veteran free agent acquisitions Kevin Zeitler and Tyler Lockett were specifically mentioned during the media availability and will likely see more reps once the team moves to team periods. One person who will not be participating in the minicamp is cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, who is still nursing the calf/knee injury that forced him to miss most of the 2024 campaign. Callahan stated that the Titans are optimistic that Sneed will be ready to go for training camp and will let the rehab guide him. Other than Sneed, all other members of the Titans should see the field in some capacity during minicamp. These are big steps forward for Treylon Burks, Lloyd Cushenberry, Kalel Mullings, and Kevin Winston Jr., who have all been recovering from injuries throughout the offseason. That's especially important for Cushenberry, who has been working his way back from tearing his Achilles during the 2024 season. Tennessee is counting on him to be ready for the season to anchor their new-look offensive line. Check back for more coverage of the Titans' final minicamp, as Titans Wire continues to break down all of the news and topics coming out of Nashville.

PFF Urges Titans to Sign Former Chiefs Super Bowl Champion CB
The Tennessee Titans spent big to add cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, but he was limited to five games due to injury last season. He also wasn't playing at a high level before the injury. Regardless, he'll likely go into next season at the team's CB1, but the Titans might need more help around him. They didn't draft a cornerback until the sixth round, and while Jarvis Brownlee Jr. played well last season, the Titans could still use more depth. Advertisement At this point in free agency, options are limited, but there are a few proven veteran cornerbacks who haven't been signed yet. Kendall Tannous/IndyStar USA TODAY Network via Imagn Images-Imagn Images Pro Football Focus believes the Titans need to address the cornerback issue and believes that former Miami Dolphins cornerback Kendall Fuller could be the right fit. "L'Jarius Sneed's start in Tennessee was far from productive, earning a 36.8 PFF coverage grade before his season ended due to injury in Week 6," Mason Cameron wrote. "Darrell Baker Jr. and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. stepped in to hold down the fort with middling results. "With Sneed now facing legal troubles, finding stability at cornerback is paramount for the Titans, who ran the highest rate of quarters coverage (21.9%) in the NFL last season. Targeting a veteran in Kendall Fuller would be a savvy move, as he posted a 76.0 PFF coverage grade or better during his time in Washington's quarters-heavy scheme." Advertisement Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi should know Fuller well, as they were both with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018 and 2019. The veteran cornerback was part of the first Super Bowl win of the current Chiefs dynasty. Titans' cornerback L'Jarius Sneed denies civil suit allegations
Titans' cornerback L'Jarius Sneed denies civil suit allegations One of the major offseason moves made by the Tennessee Titans in 2024 was bringing in cornerback L'Jarius Sneed. Drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020, they placed a franchise tag on him at the end of his rookie contract. The Titans sent two draft picks to Kansas City for Sneed and a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Sneed appeared in five games for the Titans before injuring his quad and being placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the season. In December, Sneed was at the scene of an incident at a car dealership that resulted in alleged gunshots being fired. Earlier this month, a civil suit was filed against Sneed regarding the incident. In the suit, Christian Nshimiyimana alleges that he, Sneed, and Sneed's personal assistant arrived at One Legacy Motors car dealership at the same time. Sneed reportedly came back later in a rented Lamborghini Urus and fired out of the vehicle at the dealership. There were no injuries, but the suit alleges that dealership vehicles and the building were hit by bullets. Nshimiyimana seeks damages worth over $1 million in compensation for fees, relief for infliction of bodily injury, threat of bodily injury, intentional infliction of emotional distress, civil conspiracy, and negligence. Sneed's lawyer vehemently denies these claims. 'Defendant is not liable as alleged by Plaintiff because the alleged conduct was the criminal act of a third party," Sneed's lawyer, Michael J. Todd, wrote in the Defendant's Original Answer dated April 21. "The alleged acts, if any, were performed by John Doe without any assistance, encouragement, or direction by L'Jarius Sneed.' Todd also said that Doe was not acting as Sneed's "personal assistant, employee agent, or in any capacity at any time." A grand jury has not indicted Sneed on criminal charges as of this writing, but there is deliberation on charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The next step in the civil suit is a hearing on June 2.

Texas man suing Tennessee Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed over December shooting
While most of the NFL universe is caught up in draft talk or the second wave of free agency, sometimes a non-football-related news story causes a stir. That was the case Friday afternoon when an Associated Press report centered on Tennessee Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed hit social media. The report states Sneed is being sued by a Texas man for upwards of $1 million after a shooting at a car dealership in December while he was on injured reserve. Christian Nshimiyimana claims that on December 6, he was sitting inside a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon at One Legacy Motors in Carrollton, Texas. While the drive-by shooting did not injure anyone, he identified a Lamborghini Urus as the vehicle involved. The Associated Press obtained the police report filed on the incident, but most of it has been redacted, and no real details have been released. In a statement released by Nshimiyimana via his attorney Levi McCathern, Sneed and his accomplice were arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by the Carrollton Police Department, but have not gone to trial. McCathern, in that statement, also claimed that Sneed and a woman had threatened Nshimiyimana in an attempt to intimidate him and keep this out of the courts. The Titans are aware of the situation and released a statement saying they are 'aware of the matter and have been in contact with NFL Security per league protocol.' Neither Sneed nor his representatives have commented on the accusations. Sneed is coming off a disappointing 2024 campaign, playing in only five games after becoming one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the NFL last March. The Titans lack depth in the secondary, and this situation may prompt them to use a premium draft pick to help solidify the unit.
