CM will hold meeting on MIDC issues in Pimpri Chinchwad, says minister Misal

Pune: Minister of state Madhuri Misal on Monday said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis would soon convene a meeting to address various issues industrial units and residents faced in MIDC areas in and around Pimpri Chinchwad. Responding to concerns raised by BJP MLA Mahesh Landge in the ongoing assembly session, Misal admitted to problems in MIDC zones and said a joint meeting would be held soon at the chief minister's office in Mumbai. She said officials concerned from different government departments and representatives from industrial associations would be invited for this meeting. Landge highlighted that there were a total of 3,470 industrial units in Pimpri Chinchwad. They faced persistent infrastructure issues such as poor roads, drainage problems and unreliable power supply despite paying around Rs320 crore annually in taxes to the municipal corporation, he said. Belsare said the industrialists had been demanding a dedicated effluent treatment plant (ETP), but there had been no progress on this matter despite meetings with officials of PCMC, MIDC and the industries minister. The industrial units of Pimpri Chinchwad had been demanding the authorities set up a plant to process hazardous waste because they had to transport it to Ranjangaon MIDC, almost 60km away. Landge said industrialists in Chakan MIDC faced similar issues. They had even threatened to launch a protest against the poor condition of roads and heavy traffic congestion. Misal admitted to similar infrastructure issues in Nashik MIDC areas. She said out of a 68km road network in Satpur and Ambad MIDC areas of Nashik, the administration had constructed 15km of new roads. The minister said the work on the remaining ones had been planned. She said the municipal corporation of Nashik had been directed to start work on the new drainage line to prevent flooding in the area. Responding to Congress MLA Amit Deshmukh's demand for a standard operating procedure (SOP) to address multi-agency issues in MIDC areas across Maharashtra, Misal assured the House that appropriate action would be taken on the matter. Smart Cities scheme aimed to ease traffic or add to chaos: BJP MLAs

Pune: A section of BJP MLAs from Pune has highlighted the persistent traffic congestion issue in the district, expressing frustration over project delays, such as the ring road, and poor implementation of initiatives like the Smart Cities Mission , which was launched by their own govt in 2015. Hundred cities were selected for the Smart Cities Mission that concluded this March. The opposition parties have since criticised the BJP-led govts at Center and state over the programme's outcomes, with BJP's own MLA, Rahul Kul from Daund, expressing dissatisfaction in the assembly about the project's implementation in Pune. Raising the issue of traffic congestion faced by Pune residents, Kul said, "If we look at some works under the Smart Cities Mission, one does not know if the plan was executed to resolve the traffic issues or to add to the chaos. Under the project, the roads were made narrower and the width of the footpaths was increased." You Can Also Check: Pune AQI | Weather in Pune | Bank Holidays in Pune | Public Holidays in Pune Kul advocated for integrated planning to resolve Pune's traffic troubles. "The traffic congestion in Pune has become chronic and emergency-like. Therefore, there is a demand from elected representatives to hold a weekly review meeting to find a solution to the growing traffic menace," he said. The Daund MLA's party colleague and Bhosari MLA, Mahesh Landge, also raised the Pune's traffic problem in the assembly on Wednesday. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo "When we are travelling within the city, we have to face the wrath of the citizens as they are fed up with constant traffic issues. While the developments in PMC, PCMC and PMRDA limits are going at a fast pace, it is also leading to more traffic congestion, which state govt would have to find a solution for, at the earliest," Landge said. While cabinet minister Dada Bhuse, on behalf of state govt, told the assembly that the work on the Pune ring road had started, Landge said, "Though govt claims that the work has started, the ground situation is different. When the actual work starts, govt should also ensure that all the infrastructural work is completed within the deadline. Only then will it be useful for the present population." Bhuse assured that the ring road work would be completed by Dec 2027. "As far as the mega projects in the state are concerned, the chief minister, along with his deputies, are taking monthly reviews of those projects. Pune's ring road is part of those projects, and govt will ensure that the 168-km-long project is completed within the stipulated deadline," Bhuse said in the assembly. Rasane demands 40% tax discount for properties in PMC limits Times News Network Pune: Kasba Peth MLA Hemant Rasane on Wednesday urged state govt to provide a 40% discount on property tax for all properties within Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits. He also advocated for relaxed side margin norms to facilitate the redevelopment of old wadas and properties. Rasane was speaking during the discussion on supplementary demands of the Urban Development Department (UDD) at the state assembly session. He said, "At present, PMC provides a 40% tax rebate only on properties where the owner resides. The rebate is not applicable if tenants occupy the property. This condition should be waived, and all the property owners should receive this discount." According to Rasane, his constituency consists of many old wadas, and the one-metre side margin requirement under UDCPR rules is creating obstacles in redevelopment. He also demanded that SOPs should be issued urgently by making reforms in traffic plans, the TDR process, construction permissions and redevelopment rules in Metro's TOD zones. The MLA advocated for speeding up TDR allocation in PMC and the use of the PPP model for the redevelopment of old govt colonies.

CM to hold urgent meeting today with officials, stakeholders

FOLLOWING public uproar over the nightmarish traffic situation in IT hub Hinjewadi, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will hold an urgent meeting on Thursday with different stakeholders to discuss possible solutions to the problem, which has drawn fire for the government as well as different public authorities like the PMRDA and MIDC. The meeting will be held at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai. 'After we apprised him of the traffic and infrastructure-related problems faced by Puneites in Hinjewadi area, the chief minister has decided to hold a meeting tomorrow (Thursday) in Mumbai. I'm confident the chief minister will come up with some concrete solutions to ease the problems faced by people in Hinjewadi area,' BJP MLA Shankar Jagtap said. Jagtap said the issue of merger of Hinjewadi with PCMC will also discussed. 'Though it is not a part of tomorrow's agenda, I am going to raise the issue of merger of Hinjewadi area with PCMC, which had sent the proposal for merger at least seven years back. It is pending with the state government,' he said. IT professionals and residents from Hinjewadi have also started an online campaign seeking merger of the IT hub with PCMC. Among others, the meeting will be attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, minister of state (urban development department), PMC and PCMC commissioners, PMRDA commissioner, police commissioners of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune District Collector and officials of the NHAI, MahaMetro and MIDC. 'The CM has taken cognisance of the problems faced by the citizens by urgently convening the meeting. The outcome of the meeting will certainly bring a big relief to citizens, IT professionals and motorists using different roads in Hinjewadi area,' Jagtap said. He said thousands of people have been affected by the daily traffic jams in Hinjewadi area. 'It is costing them heavily in terms time, money and fuel. Also, it is a big mental harassment for them. It's time we focus our attention on roads, ring road, flyovers, public transport and parking in this area,' he said. Jagtap, who represents Chinchwad Assembly constituency which is close to Hinjewadi area, lamented that Hinjewadi traffic issue has remained a neglected area so far. Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge said the state government has stepped forward to resolve the long-pending traffic and civic issues affecting Hinjewadi area. 'The state government has taken a positive step by urgently convening a meeting to resolve the issues affecting the world famous IT park of Hinjewadi,' he said. Landge said in the very first rain of the season, Hinjewadi IT hub turned into a 'water park'. 'Those working in the hub are facing a nightmare vis-a-vis daily traffic jams, power outages and lack of proper basic amenities. IT professionals and residents have also undertaken a signature campaign to get their grievances redressed. As per my information, 30,000 IT professionals have backed this campaign,' he said. Demanding an action plan, Landge said there was lack of coordination between different public authorities who are supposed to take care of the needs of Hinjewadi area. 'There is no effective coordination between PMRDA, MIDC, Zilla Parishad and NHAI. Though it is a world famous IT hub, because of lack of proper amenities, it is getting defamed.' Baramati MP Supriya Sule has also taken up the problems of Hinjewadi with the CM. She has written a letter to the CM urging him to either form a Special City Development Authority or an Industrial Urban Administrative Authority. Sule said Hinjewadi and nearby areas were facing issues of traffic jams, waterlogging and frequent power failures. 'But the different public authorities have been found wanting. The state government should take urgent steps to resolve the problems faced by people in Hinjewadi area,' she said in the letter. On Monday, the Hinjewadi area witnessed a major power outage. For over 24 hours, IT companies and housing societies were without power.

₹1.82-cr fraud on prof unravels int'l gang specialising in ‘digital arrest'

NAVI MUMBAI: The central crime unit of Navi Mumbai police has busted an international gang of cybercriminals who defrauded people by placing them under 'digital arrest' and falsely accusing them of breaking the law. Three members of the gang were arrested after a 59-year-old doctor and medical college professor was duped of ₹1.82 crore, said police. All three were history-sheeters and their arrest has led to the detection of several other crimes perpetrated by the gang, the police added. The doctor and medical college professor was first contacted by the gang via a WhatsApp video call on January 14 this year. Gang members claimed they were income tax officers and said the Delhi police had registered a complaint against her as a firm registered in her name had defaulted on taxes worth ₹8.6 lakh. Subsequently, they sent her letters on forged letterheads of the Criminal Bureau of Investigation, the Enforcement Directorate and the Supreme Court, claiming her credit cards were found to be linked to criminal cases in north India. 'The woman was led to believe that she was under digital arrest and was told that all her property would be verified by the RBI (Reserve Bank of India),' said Ajaykumar Landge, assistant commissioner of police (crime). 'She was asked to submit details of all her investments and transfer money to the accused, which they said would be refunded once the verification of her property was complete.' Between January 14 and February 15, the woman transferred a total of ₹1.82 crore to six bank accounts based on details provided by the accused. She filed a complaint with the cyber cell on February 17, after realising that she had been duped, Landge said. Three teams were formed subsequently to conduct a probe, said senior police inspector (crime) Sunil Shinde, the investigating officer in the case. 'We undertook technical investigation and traced the bank transactions thoroughly, which led us to the three accused,' Shinde said. The first breakthrough came on April 18 when Ramesh Babulal Sheth alias Patwa, 45, a resident of Andheri, and Amish Deepak Tulshidas Shah, 42, a resident of Kalbadevi, were arrested. While they were sent to judicial custody on April 25, the third accused, Ahmedabad resident Rajkumar Gelaram Narang, 55, was arrested on May 23. Narang has been remanded in police custody till May 30. 'The first two accused formed bogus companies while the third specialised in opening bank accounts and conducting financial transactions in the name of bogus companies,' said Shinde. The gang followed an elaborate procedure to pull off the frauds, said Landge. 'The gang would take an office on rent and form a bogus company with the rented address, based on which they would open current accounts with various banks and acquire internet banking kits, debit cards and SIM cards,' said Landge. The banking kits and cards would be sent abroad, to Dubai and Cambodia, where their associates were based. These associates operated the bank accounts into which victims transferred money and made video calls to victims to make them believe that they were under digital arrest, Landge added. The accused in the case, including the arrested trio, have been booked under sections 204,3(5), 318(4), 319(2), 336(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and section 66(D) of the IT Rules, 2000. They have also been booked under sections 61(2), 336 (2), 340 (2) and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita as they were part of an organised criminal gang and duped victims by using bogus company documents and stamps. So far, the police have recovered ₹11.3 lakh from the accused, apart from a laptop, 18 mobile phones, 18 cheque books of various banks, 32 debit cards, 33 cheques, 27 Vodafone SIM cards, 2 passbooks, 10 rubber stamps in the name of bogus firms and 36 bank kits in the name of 10 companies. All three accused had been booked in several similar cases earlier, said Shinde. 'Shah was booked earlier by the Junagadh cyber police station, the CBI in Mumbai and the LT Marg police station in Thane. Narang was named in five cases registered at different police stations in Gujarat while Sheth was booked by the LT Marg police station in Thane,' said Shinde. The arrest of the accused trio led to the detection of other crimes and helped solve at least two cases registered by cyber cells in Navi Mumbai and Thane, said Shinde. Until now, 73 complaints linked with bank accounts opened by the accused have been registered on the national cyber crime portal and the cases are being investigated, Shinde added.
