Preparations for National Day, Malaysia Day 2025 celebrations on track

KUALA LUMPUR: Preparations for the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2025 celebrations are running smoothly, with a wide array of side events already lined up to ensure a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said his ministry has already convened two meetings each for the main organising committees of both National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. "Everything is on track. Planning and participation have been very positive. We're still receiving applications from various groups keen to take part in the parade. "To enrich the experience, we're also organising numerous side events so that those attending won't only watch the parade, a showcase of assets, or performances, but can also enjoy various activities around Putrajaya. "Families, children, and parents alike can look forward to a truly festive and enjoyable atmosphere," he told reporters at the Pentarama Homecoming programme in conjunction with HKHM 2025 at SK Bangsar today. Fahmi said that a range of events is also being planned for the National Day Eve celebrations in Putrajaya and across Kuala Lumpur. "I don't want to reveal too much just yet, but rest assured, this year's celebrations will be grand, harmonious, and filled with joy," he said, encouraging the public to visit the portal for updates. This year's National Day parade will take place in Putrajaya on Aug 31, while Malaysia Day will be celebrated on Sept 16 at PICCA@Arena Butterworth in Penang. On another development, Fahmi invited the public to attend Malam Malaysia Bersama Gaza, a solidarity event for Palestine organised by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM). The three-day event will be held at Dataran Merdeka from Aug 22 to 24, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expected to attend the highlight night on Aug 23. "This event serves as a reminder of Malaysia's unwavering and continued support for Palestine, especially the people of Gaza," Fahmi said. MAPIM is expecting over 100,000 attendees, with exhibitions including a time tunnel showcasing the history of the Palestinian struggle for independence. "I urge everyone to come out and show their support," he added. Meanwhile, Fahmi said the Pentarama Homecoming programme, launched today, will be rolled out to over 80 schools nationwide to inspire patriotism among students. At today's event, attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including a casual talk session with the minister, cultural performances, fashion shows, games, and a Jalur Gemilang flag-waving segment.

Palestinian Issue: MAPIM Sends Urgent Appeal To Leaders Of China, Russia And India

SHAH ALAM, April 26 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM) has sent letters to the leaders of three major world powers - China, Russia, and India - last week, seeking their attention and support for the cause of the Palestinian people. Its president Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid said the initiative was part of MAPIM's ongoing efforts to engage global powers in urging the Zionist regime to immediately cease its atrocities against the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza. 'The essence of the letter primarily highlights the increasingly dire situation facing the people of Gaza. MAPIM believes that the Palestinian cause urgently requires the intervention of China, Russia, and India, whose collective influence could exert pressure on Israel and the United States. 'They must play an active role in maintaining continuous pressure, and, at the very least, insist on the immediate opening of the Rafah border to facilitate the delivery of food and medical aid,' he told Bernama here, today. Last week, MAPIM addressed a formal letter to three world leaders - Chinese President Xi Jinping; Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi - appealing for their attention and action on the Palestinian issue. Mohd Azmi further said that MAPIM intends to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the near future to discuss the strategic direction of Malaysia's aid efforts for Palestine. He said that Egypt's efforts to pressure Israel and the United States had shown signs of progress toward reopening the Rafah border crossing, and that this matter will also be brought to the attention of the Prime Minister, with the hope that Malaysia can lend its voice of support. 'To date, 500 MAPIM aid trucks remain stranded at the Rafah border, in addition to 50 containers filled with food, medical supplies, tents, and other essential items which had initially arrived in Egypt,' he said. Earlier, Mohd Azmi attended the Aidilfitri gathering and delivered the keynote speech at the annual general meeting of the Forum Ekonomi Manusiawi (FEM), at the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam Mosque, here.
