Teacher killed in crash in Maran while on the way home to Temerloh
MARAN: A religious school teacher was killed and three others were injured in an accident in Jalan Besar, near Jengka 20 here, today. In the 9.30am accident, the Perodua Myvi driven by Nurfarah Izyan Ismail, 28, from Temerloh, collided with a mobile drilling truck. "Nurfarah was on her way home to Sungai Gau, Temerloh, from SMA Al-Basriah in Jerantut," Maran police chief Superintendent Wong Kim Wai said. "She is believed to have lost control of her vehicle and veered into the opposite lane before crashing into an oncoming lorry. "The 51-year-old lorry driver from Bandar Jengka has a fractured left thigh. "Two of his assistants, who were in the front passenger seat, suffered minor injuries. "A fourth assistant, who was seated in the rear section of the lorry, escaped unhurt," he said today. Wong said the lorry driver and the two injured assistants, aged 25 and 45, were receiving treatment at Jengka Hospital. He said the case is being investigated for reckless or dangerous driving.

KUANTAN, July 12 — A teacher was killed in a collision with a lorry along Jalan Besar Jengka 20, Maran, earlier today. Maran police chief Supt Wong Kim Wai said the victim, Nurfarah Izyan Ismail, 28, who taught at Sekolah Menengah Agama Al-Basriah in Jerantut, died at the scene of the 9.30 am crash. Preliminary investigations revealed that Nurfarah Izyan was driving a Perodua Myvi home to Sungai Gau, Temerloh, from the school when the accident occurred. 'It is believed that she lost control of her vehicle and veered into the opposite lane before colliding with a lorry carrying four individuals,' he said in a statement today. He said the 51-year-old driver of the Isuzu lorry sustained a fractured thigh, while two assistants, aged 25 and 43, suffered minor injuries. Another assistant, 53, was unhurt. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama

PETALING JAYA: A teacher was killed after the Perodua Myvi she was driving collided with a lorry on Jalan Besar Jengka 20 in Maran, Pahang, earlier today. Maran district police chief, Superintendent Wong Kim Wai, said the incident occurred at around 9.30am when the 28-year-old victim, Nurfarah Izyan Ismail, was on her way home to Sungai Gau, Temerloh, from Sekolah Menengah Agama Al-Basriah in Jerantut, Kosmo reported. Her vehicle is believed to have lost control and veered into the opposite lane before crashing into an Isuzu lorry carrying a drilling machine. 'As a result of the crash, the victim sustained injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,' Wong said. He added that the lorry driver and two front-seat passengers suffered injuries, while the rear passenger escaped unharmed. Nurfarah's body was sent to Hospital Jengka for a post-mortem, while the injured individuals received treatment at the same hospital. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and investigations are ongoing. Preliminary findings revealed that the accident occurred at a slight bend. Weather conditions were reportedly clear, but the road surface was wet from earlier rain.
