Nagam diluted PRLIS case after joining BRS: TPCC president Mahesh

HYDERABAD: TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Monday came down heavily on BRS working president KT Rama Rao for claiming that the Supreme Court had vindicated the BRS' stance that it had done nothing wrong in the execution of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS). Speaking to the media here, Goud said that the BRS leader should bear in mind that Nagam Janardhan Reddy had filed the petition when he was in the Congress. The BRS, after admitting him into the party later, had the case diluted which led to the apex court dismissing the petition. 'How can Nagam Janardhan Reddy fight against KCR while continuing in the BRS?' he wondered. Goud also slammed Rama Rao for calling the BRS regime the 'golden period' of Telangana and mocked his claim that there was no corruption at any point during that time. Further, the TPCC chief challenged Rama Rao on whether he could write a letter to the chief minister demanding a CID or judicial probe into the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, as he was alleging no corruption took place in its execution. 'Let him do that. Then facts will come out as to how corruption had taken place,' he said.

Congress, BJP disinformation campaign on PRLIS disproved, Kaleshwaram to dispel it soon: KTR

HYDERABAD Working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao has alleged that the ruling Congress in the State and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre have been practising dirty politics over the irrigation projects of Telangana and their disinformation on Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme was exposed in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. Likewise, their false propaganda on Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project would also be disproved soon. In an informal chat with newspersons here on Thursday, he stated that the Congress party's disinformation on the Kaleshwaram project was a ploy to divert people's attention from its misrule. The State government had taken to theatrics by issuing notices to party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, former minister T. Harish Rao and others as the BRS had been regularly exposing Congress leaders' 'percentage rule'. The extension of the time of the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission of Inquiry was with malafide intentions despite the Commission revealing that its enquiry was completed. The BRS working president said the party leaders had not received notices formally so far and the party would take a decision on how to proceed only after receiving them. He, however, felt that the Congress party's agenda could be to demolish all three barrages of Kaleshwaram and construct them afresh by calling for tenders again by taking 20% to 30% commissions. Alleging that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was suffering from multiple personality disorder Mr. Rama Rao said his (CM's) talk on an issue was different at different times. He sought to know whether it was graceful for a Chief Minister to be busy with Miss World pageant when 580 farmers across the State died and their harvested paddy was damaged in untimely rains. Mr. Rama Rao also faulted the Chief Minister for not visiting the Gulzar Houz fire site, though it was the worst-ever fire accident in Telangana.

PCC chief challenges KTR's claims on PRLI scheme court verdict

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud has strongly countered BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao's claims that the Supreme Court has given a clean chit on the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, and accused him of misleading the public and trying to cover up past corruption. Responding to KTR's claims, Mr Mahesh Goud reminded that it was Nagam Janardhan Reddy, then a Congress leader, who had filed the case against irregularities in the scheme. 'With full evidence, he exposed the misdeeds in the project. Later, he was taken into the BRS party, and the case was diluted deliberately,' Mr. Goud alleged. Questioning the moral integrity of the BRS leadership, he asked, 'How can someone who filed a case against K. Chandrasekhar Rao be welcomed into the same party? Is that not a ploy to bury the case?' Mr. Goud challenged the BRS working president to write to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, demanding a thorough investigation into the allegations. 'Let the State government decide whether it should be a CID probe or a judicial inquiry. If KTR truly believes he is honest, he should come forward and welcome the investigation,' he asserted. Only a full and independent probe would reveal the truth about the Palamuru-Rangareddy scheme and expose the alleged corruption, he claimed, adding that the BRS leadership cannot escape scrutiny by twisting court verdicts. 'We will not rest until the truth is brought before the people,' he affirmed.

SC junks Nagam's plea against Palamuru-Ranga Reddy scheme

Hyderabad / New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy, which alleged financial irregularities in the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS). The Supreme Court bench headed by Justice B V Nagarathna and comprising Justice Satish Chandra Sharma after an elaborate hearing on Wednesday dismissed the SLP recording that there are no merits in the case to interfere with the Order of the High Court of Telangana which had earlier dismissed the Public Interest Litigation filed by Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy vide Order dated 03.12.2018. The Supreme Court bench observed that four other cases filed by Dr Nagam relating to the very same project before the High Court have been either dismissed or disposed and have attained finality as no appeals are pending. It also recorded that the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC), while dealing with the complaint filed by very same Nagam on this issue, had given a clear finding that the allegations are unsubstantiated. The bench questioned the senior counsel Prashant Bhushan, who appeared for the petitioner Dr Nagam, as to how a prayer can be sought before the High Court in a Writ Petition to declare the revision of rates as fraudulent. Responding to this, Bhushan urged the bench to ignore that part of the prayer and focus on the second part which was seeking a direction to the Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate the alleged fraud. Justice Nagarathna stated that any revision of rates or ratios could have been exercising of commercial wisdom by the State and wondered how can the courts give a direction to the CBI to investigate. She said courts cannot be a monitor for every action of the State. Senior counsel and former Attorney General, Mukul Rohtagi, appearing for Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL), in his submissions raised objections about the maintainability of the SLP itself. He informed the court that the very same petitioner Dr Nagam has been filing one after another cases for the last 10 years before the High Court, CVC etc against them as a form of harassment. He drew the attention of the court to the finding given by the CVC on the complaint made by Dr Nagam. After hearing submissions on both sides in detail, the Supreme Court bench pronounced its order dismissing the SLP.

SC rejects Nagam Janardhan Reddy's please on Palamuru-Rangareddy Project

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India has dismissed the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy, which alleged financial irregularities in the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS). A bench headed by Justice B.V. Nagarathna and including Justice Satish Chandra Sharma found no merit in the case to warrant interference with a prior ruling from the Telangana High Court, which dismissed a Public Interest Litigation filed by Dr. Nagam on 3rd December 2018. The Supreme Court noted that four similar cases filed by Dr. Nagam concerning the same project have either been dismissed or disposed of, attaining finality with no pending appeals. The court highlighted the findings of the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC), who stated that the allegations made by Dr. Nagam were unsubstantiated. During the hearing, the bench questioned senior counsel Prashant Bhushan, representing Dr. Nagam, on the grounds for claiming that a revision of rates was fraudulent. Mr. Bhushan requested the bench to focus on the second part of the petition, which sought a directive for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the alleged fraud. However, Justice Nagarathna expressed scepticism, suggesting that revisions of rates may simply reflect the state's commercial discretion and that courts cannot oversee every government action. Mukul Rohatgi, former Attorney General and counsel for Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL), raised concerns about the maintainability of the SLP, stating that Dr. Nagam had filed numerous cases over the past decade as a form of harassment. He pointed to the CVC's prior findings regarding Dr. Nagam's complaints. After thorough consideration of the arguments, the Supreme Court upheld the High Court's discretion to decline the CBI investigation request. The bench concluded that the High Court had justified reasons for its decision, leading to the dismissal of the SLP on the grounds that it lacked merit.
