Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock fulfil fans' dreams reuniting after 19 years

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are finally fulfilling a dream fans have been having for nearly 20 years. The pair, who famously starred in the action classic Speed, have been lined up to lead a new romantic thriller being developed by Amazon MGM Studios. While details about the movie are being kept top secret – we don't even know the title – the film has been described as 'propulsive' by those in the know. But wait, there are more reasons to get excited. The movie's been written by Noah Oppenheim, who wrote 2016's Oscar-nominated Jackie and helped co-create the Robert De Niro Netflix series Zero Day. According to THR, though Keanu and Sandra aren't the only Speed alumni working on the film. Mark Gordon, who produced the bus-themed thriller, is developing the film, and he's the one who brought the project to them in the first place. Needless to say, Keanu and Sandra's fans are very excited about the idea of them working together again. 'Yasssssssssssss. I don't even care what the plot is, I will be watching,' wrote Jjo1819 on Reddit, while Brilliant_Concern_79 added: 'This has honestly made my day. I love them both. Cannot wait.' 'Oh, I just love their chemistry, happy to see them working together again,' said Crystal-clear24. 'Hope this gets a theatrical release.' It was MoonMan997, though, who was asking the question on everyone's mind. I can't believe Disney haven't greenlit [Speed 3] yet, they wrote. 'Seems like an absolute no-brainer.' Just last year, the pair both said they'd be up for making Speed 3 while appearing together on the 50 MPH podcast. 'I mean, you know. We'd freakin' knock it out of the park,' The John Wick star said said. 'It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there's something that wasn't done,' Reeves added. 'I would love to work with you again before our eyes close.' 'Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera, Bullock said in response. 'Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?' It seems that the pair have managed to make that dream of working together come true, although unfortunately not in the long-mooted Speed threequel. Our Deputy TV editor Tom Percival shares his thoughts on the reunion news… Look, I can't lie when I heard the news that Keanu and Sandra were working together again, I dared to dream it was on Speed 3, and while I'm disappointed we're not getting a sequel to that classic movie (yet), I am thrilled they're working together again. The pair clearly adore each other and have incredible chemistry, even in The Lake House, a film I loathe, they've got such undeniable appeal, and they clearly love working together. So roll on 'Untitled Amazon MGM Romantic Thriller' I can't wait to see you! The pair last worked together on the 2006 romantic drama The Lake House. Sadly, that film doesn't quite have the same reputation as Speed and was critically panned on release. More Trending Sitting at just 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film was described by critics as overly complicated and not romantic enough. That said, legendary film critic Roger Ebert did praise Keanu and Sandra's performances, calling them both 'enormously likeable'. Meanwhile, AO Scott wrote in The New York Times that the film was 'a showcase for its stars, who seem gratifyingly comfortable in their own skin and delighted to be in each other's company again.' If that's not enough, Sandra and Keanu won the 'Best Liplock award' at the 2006 Teen Choice Awards, truly the highest honour an actor can receive. Let's hope this new project, then, is a bit more Speed and a little less Lake House. Got a story? Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock team up for a steamy romantic thriller 20 years after Speed

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are back, and no, this is not a drill. The iconic duo who made Speed one of the most adrenaline-pumping films of the '90s are reuniting after nearly 20 years, this time for something a little less explosive but just as intense: a romantic thriller. Yes, your millennial heart just skipped a beat. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are officially reuniting after 20 years According to Entertainment Weekly, the film is still "untitled," but the premise is already giving us butterflies and chaos, the perfect cinematic cocktail. Described as a 'propulsive' romantic thriller (insert dramatic music), the project is currently in development at MGM Studios. And guess what? Keanu and Sandra are not just acting in it, they are producing it too. What is the new film about? The screenplay is being penned by Noah Oppenheim, best known for Jackie and The Maze Runner, which means we are likely in for a high-stakes emotional rollercoaster. Plus, Speed producer Mark Gordon is also on board. So basically, the band is back together, and it is about time. What was the film Speed about? Let us not forget the magic these two brought to the screen. Speed (1994) did not just break the box office, it launched both stars into Hollywood royalty. While Keanu cemented his status as an action icon, Sandra became everyone's '90s rom-com dream girl. They reunited briefly for 2006's The Lake House, but due to its time-warp plot, the pair had barely any screen time together, tragic, honestly. Is Speed 3 in talks? At a Speed screening last year, Sandra joked that a third film would probably be 'the geriatric version' and Keanu cheekily responded with 'retirement.' Both hinted that bringing back Speed without OG director Jan de Bont would not feel right. Sandra even credited him as the chaos-brained genius who pulled the original together, saying he knew exactly what the audience needed before anyone else did. As for now, Keanu is busy with John Wick 5 and an Aziz Ansari comedy, while Sandra is set to bring back witchy vibes in the Practical Magic sequel with Nicole Kidman. But this romantic thriller reunion? It is what the people wanted. And it is what they are getting.

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves drive fans wild with shock romantic reunion... 30 years after Speed

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are revving up to star in a romantic thriller from Amazon MGM Studios. It's been 19 years since they filmed The Lake House and 31 years since the classic Speed hit theaters and the actors, both 60, are ready to give their onscreen chemistry another go. The studio is keeping details of the plot to themselves for now. Noah Oppenheim, the writer behind Jackie and Zero Day will write the script and Speed producer Mark Gordon is also attached to the project. Sandra and Keanu celebrated 30 years of Speed last fall at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles. 'We knew we were doing something wacky,' Reeves said of Speed's plot. 'I was behind the wheel of a projectile, so I was just happy to be alive at the end of the day,' Bullock joked. It's been 19 years since they filmed The Lake House and 31 years since the classic Speed hit theaters and the actors, both 60, are ready to give their onscreen chemistry another go At Beyond Fest they also discussed the possibility of a Speed 3. Bullock said 'Speed 3 would be the geriatric version. It won't be fast.' Fans were excited by the news of a Reeves and Bullock reunion and heralded it with compliments including, 'perfect couple ever,' 'I'm so ready for this!!!,' 'This is too good' and 'Yesssss.' Another fan commented on one of the duo's past movies, writing, 'I loved The Lake House. Great movie.' And finally, someone else wrote, 'The IMMEDIATE butterflies I got when I thought this what a Speed 3 announcement at first glance.' Earlier this year, Sandra saw her 2000 film Miss Congeniality have a surge in popularity, 25 years after it was released. At the time of its release, the actress and producer received less praise for starring as a smart but clumsy FBI agent, who happens to be a huge tomboy but ends up going undercover in a beauty pageant. Ahead of the movie turning 25 in 2025, the movie is now climbing the charts on streaming service Netflix despite its low 41 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, at the time of its release, Miss Congeniality grossed $212 million, a notable box office number against its budget of $45 million. The underrated action rom-com also did well enough that Bullock ended up reprising the role for a 2005 sequel. In the original flick, Bullock stars as Gracie Hart, a tomboyish FBI special agent who undergoes a major transformation when she chosen to go undercover at a Miss United States pageant after the agency learns of a bomb threat targeting the event. She plays opposite a star-studded cast including Michael Caine, Candice Bergen, William Shatner, Ernie Hudson and Heather Burns. Several years ago, Bullock was asked about a potential Miss Congeniality 3 and had a strong, adverse reaction. 'God no! No, no,' Bullock replied when probed about the possibility of her reprising her role. She also shared her regrets about the sequel and said Miss Congeniality 2 'shouldn't have been done' in a April 2022 interview with Metro UK. However, she said that she's 'glad' the follow-up movie was filmed anyway 'because of Regina [King], who I just freaking adore.' King joined the sequel as Bullock's character Gracie's partner Sam Fuller. About the original Miss Congeniality, Bullock added: 'That one should have remained a one-off.' In Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, Bullock reprises her role as Gracie, who is now facing her newfound fame after going undercover and competing in a beauty pageant. But her overnight celebrity status does not faze her new partner Sam Fuller, portrayed by Regina King. The partners must put their differences aside, however, when one of Gracie's former beauty queen pals Cheryl Frasier (Heather Burns) goes missing and the FBI is put on the case.

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock to reunite for new movie

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are reuniting for a new movie. The pair – who previously co-starred in 1994 action thriller 'Speed' and 2006 romance fantasy 'The Lake House' – are set to join forces for an unnamed romantic thriller for at Amazon MGM Studios. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot for the film – which is being penned by 'Jackie' scribe Noah Oppenheim – has been described as 'propulsive'. Mark Gordon – who produced 'Speed' – will produce the movie with Reeves and Bibby Dunn via The Mark Gordon Company, along with Bullock for Fortis Films and Oppenheim and Sarah Bremner for Prologue Entertainment. Just last year, Reeves and Bullock revealed they were keen to reunite on screen again. During a joint interview on the '50 MPH' podcast, Keanu spoke about a possible 'Speed 3', saying: 'I mean, you know — we'd freakin' knock it out of the park.' Sandra added: 'There's no formula. It just is. Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera. Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?' Keanu said: 'It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there's something that wasn't done. I would love to work with you again before our eyes close.' Speaking about 'Speed', he said: 'We had an affection. And the characters themselves have an affection. I think Jack and Annie's is different than Sandra's and Keanu's, but I think we played off each other and I think it was just fun. I think, also, we kind of trusted each other, right?' Sandra replied: 'Yeah. I mean, people have full-blown affairs in movies, and you don't feel something between them. And then people can hate each other in movies and you go, 'That was electric,' you know? We didn't really look at each other in this movie except for maybe three or four times, because we were constantly battling the elements. And I think that's what made it so electric, too, is that, watching it, I guess you want them to connect. That was a really clever setup, to sort of keep people apart. Foreplay, I guess.'
