Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock fulfil fans' dreams reuniting after 19 years
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are finally fulfilling a dream fans have been having for nearly 20 years.
The pair, who famously starred in the action classic Speed, have been lined up to lead a new romantic thriller being developed by Amazon MGM Studios.
While details about the movie are being kept top secret – we don't even know the title – the film has been described as 'propulsive' by those in the know.
But wait, there are more reasons to get excited. The movie's been written by Noah Oppenheim, who wrote 2016's Oscar-nominated Jackie and helped co-create the Robert De Niro Netflix series Zero Day.
According to THR, though Keanu and Sandra aren't the only Speed alumni working on the film.
Mark Gordon, who produced the bus-themed thriller, is developing the film, and he's the one who brought the project to them in the first place.
Needless to say, Keanu and Sandra's fans are very excited about the idea of them working together again.
'Yasssssssssssss. I don't even care what the plot is, I will be watching,' wrote Jjo1819 on Reddit, while Brilliant_Concern_79 added: 'This has honestly made my day. I love them both. Cannot wait.'
'Oh, I just love their chemistry, happy to see them working together again,' said Crystal-clear24. 'Hope this gets a theatrical release.'
It was MoonMan997, though, who was asking the question on everyone's mind. I can't believe Disney haven't greenlit [Speed 3] yet, they wrote. 'Seems like an absolute no-brainer.'
Just last year, the pair both said they'd be up for making Speed 3 while appearing together on the 50 MPH podcast.
'I mean, you know. We'd freakin' knock it out of the park,' The John Wick star said said. 'It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there's something that wasn't done,' Reeves added. 'I would love to work with you again before our eyes close.'
'Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera, Bullock said in response. 'Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?'
It seems that the pair have managed to make that dream of working together come true, although unfortunately not in the long-mooted Speed threequel.
Our Deputy TV editor Tom Percival shares his thoughts on the reunion news…
Look, I can't lie when I heard the news that Keanu and Sandra were working together again, I dared to dream it was on Speed 3, and while I'm disappointed we're not getting a sequel to that classic movie (yet), I am thrilled they're working together again.
The pair clearly adore each other and have incredible chemistry, even in The Lake House, a film I loathe, they've got such undeniable appeal, and they clearly love working together.
So roll on 'Untitled Amazon MGM Romantic Thriller' I can't wait to see you!
The pair last worked together on the 2006 romantic drama The Lake House. Sadly, that film doesn't quite have the same reputation as Speed and was critically panned on release. More Trending
Sitting at just 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film was described by critics as overly complicated and not romantic enough.
That said, legendary film critic Roger Ebert did praise Keanu and Sandra's performances, calling them both 'enormously likeable'.
Meanwhile, AO Scott wrote in The New York Times that the film was 'a showcase for its stars, who seem gratifyingly comfortable in their own skin and delighted to be in each other's company again.'
If that's not enough, Sandra and Keanu won the 'Best Liplock award' at the 2006 Teen Choice Awards, truly the highest honour an actor can receive.
Let's hope this new project, then, is a bit more Speed and a little less Lake House.

Liam Payne's Netflix show sees One Direction star living his dream for last time
Netflix have released a first look trailer and release date for new music competition show Building The Band - starring former One Direction star Liam Payne as a guest judge A first look trailer and release date for Netflix's new show Building The Band, featuring Liam Payne as a guest judge has been revealed. The show, which was filmed months before the star's tragic death, will feature a Love Is Blind format in which singers will audition for each other and choose their own bandmates before even seeing them. The talent show will see the late Liam Payne in the judging panel alongside Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Rowland and a number of guest judges along the way. The trio filmed the show alongside host, Backstreet Boys star AJ McClean, in summer 2024, just months before the One Direction stars untimely death. Netflix had previously delayed the release of the show as the producers and family were weighing Payne's inclusion in the series. The show has now given a release date of July 9, as the team and Liam's family decided to move forward with Liam remaining in the series. The show is set to run over three weeks with two episodes releasing weekly on July 9, July 16 and July 23. 'Liam Payne's family reviewed the series and is supportive of his inclusion,' Netflix said in a statement. Now, the streamer have released a first look trailer for the new show. Netflix fans may recognise the set up, which looks similar to the Love Is Blind pods. During the trailer, fans can see hopeful bandmembers enter the pods, with contestant Donzell taking centre stage. Fellow contestants are blown away by his voice, as they listen in to build their very own band based on musical compatibility, connection, chemistry and raw talent. The trailer does not show Liam, or any of the judges, or directly mention his involvement in the show. His involvement was announced before his tragic death, with the star taking part in filming in August 2024 in Manchester, England. Liam Payne died in October 2024 at age 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following Liam's tragic death, his former One Direction bandmates released a joint statement which read: "We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing. "In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. "For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam."

Arnold Schwarzenegger feels the strain of playing an action hero at 75
They don't make movie stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger anymore. So it makes a twisted kind of sense that he's the star attraction in Fubar (Netflix), the kind of dumb and dumber kick-ass action comedy drama that went out of style with The A-Team. Still, what goes around comes around and maybe the time is right for flag-waving fist-pumping adventures where subtlety takes a distant second place to smart wisecracks and blizzards of bullets. If only Fubar (an acronym, with military roots, for F--ked Up Beyond All Recognition, in case you were wondering) was better at what it's trying to be. Arnie's mighty shoulders do their best to carry an eight-episode slog, swamping what might have made a half-decent two-hour action movie, but at 75 even he is feeling the strain of playing a convincing action hero. So you get long Arnie-less stretches filled with a carnival of back-up characters who do their best to patch together what feels like five TV shows all going on everywhere, all at once. This is the second run for Fubar and when we left Arnie and co last time out, they were setting off on the run, dastardly baddies on their tail. When we pick up the story, they've been holed up in a safe house for months, nerves in tatters, and duly primed for a fresh bash at saving the world from imminent destruction. Enter Carrie-Anne Moss, sporting a wobbly accent and a killer bob, as ex-East German spy Greta, an old adversary and on-off squeeze of Arnie's undercover CIA operative Luke Brenner. When these two are renewing rivalries, grinding out a tango (Arnie with a rose in his mouth!) and playing out a cat and mouse game of Grumpy Old Spies, Fubar hints at the show it could be. With bittersweet nods at the unkind passing of time, Luke and Greta reminisce about the good old espionage days, exchanging wry reflections on how getting old sucks. 'Yes,' she says. 'Sometimes I walk into a room now and I forget… who I came to kill.' If Fubar had the guts to lean into that kind of world-weary comedy, it would have made for a much more entertaining animal. But, even though it's strewn with shoot-outs galore, gory deaths which stray into Midsomer Murders territory – watch out for the meat slicer – and frequent dives into the most basic of toilet humour, Fubar somehow comes off as slightly dull. Which is some going for an overstuffed plot which includes a comedy pig, the threat of nuclear armageddon and an extraordinarily high body count. That's largely down to the total lack of jeopardy: you can guess from the outset that each of the good guys survives and a happy ending for everyone is all but guaranteed. Rising above this saccharin formula, former Hollyoaks favourite Guy Burnet chews the scenery as the type of typically morally ambiguous Brit US shows love, switching sides at the drop of his Union Jack boxers. Burnet steals the show as Theodore Cripps, a Bond goodie/baddie in the making. He keeps you guessing in a series which otherwise runs on all too familiar tracks – Arnie included.

MTV host Amanda Lewis dead age 53 after breast cancer battle
She leaves behind a 14-year-old son. Amanda Lewis has passed away at the age of 52. The television host, best known for her MTV stint in the late 1990s, lost her life following her battle with breast cancer. She was a popular host during the network's"veejay" era and sadly passed away yesterday, Wednesday June 11, 2025. In October 2020, Ananda announced to fans that she'd been privately battling Stage 3 breast cancer for two years. She also told how she'd avoided getting regular mammograms due to her fear of radiation exposure. During a 2024 interview she revealed that her breast cancer had reached Stage 4 after previously declining to undergo a mastectomy for treatment. Ananda's sister Lakshmi has now confirmed the sad news of her sister's passing on Facebook in an emotional message, The Mirror reports. She wrote of Ananda, "She's free and in His heavenly arms [heart emojis]. Lord, rest her soul [prayer hands emoji]." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Lakshmi confirmed that her sister died at her home in Los Angeles at 11:35am and that she was in hospice care at the time of her death. Lakshimi also revealed that Ananda's 14-year-old son was graduating middle school the same day as her passing. TMZ reported that made the day very bittersweet. She shares the teen boy, her only child, with husband Harry Smith, 54, who is the younger brother of Oscar-winning actor Will Smith, 56. Many are mourning Ananda's untimely death on social media, especially on X, formerly Twitter. One wrote on the platform X: "Omg Rip to the beautiful #AnandaLewis her sister confirmed the news. "If you're a 90s/early 2000s baby, then you definitely wanted to be her, at some point! The real 'It girl'! She just had it!Phuck cancer! Sending love to every person that loved her. Get your rest beauty." Another wrote on X: " Ananda Lewis was so iconic. Sleep peacefully angel," a third penned: "Ananda Lewis was one of the quintessential 90's baddies RIP." As a fixture on MTV in the late 1990s, Ananda hosted hit shows like Total Request Live, Hot Zone and Spring Break. But she left her MTV role in 2001 and began hosting her very own daytime TV talk show, The Ananda Lewis Show, which ran for two seasons. She earned two NAACP Image Awards during her career and was once deemed the 'the hip-hop generation's reigning It Girl' by The New York Times. Lakshmi said that a memorial would be held 'in a few weeks' and that celebrities who Ananda previously interview have already expressed interest in paying tribute to her at the upcoming service.
