Champaign Police looking for tips in $500 theft from Kohl's

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign Police Department is asking for help through Crime Stoppers in solving a case of retail theft. The theft happened Nov. 19 at the Kohl's on Convenience Center Road. Officials said that a man walked into the store just after 9 a.m. and hid several items in a duffel bag. He then walked out of the store, making no attempt to pay for the items he selected. The stolen merchandise was worth nearly $500. UPDATE: State Police name victims, release new info in Shelby Co. car vs. train crash The suspect was recorded on security cameras; he appeared to be a Black male wearing a navy-blue Adidas sweatshirt and white sneakers. He left the area in a gray sedan, possibly a Hyundai Elantra. Anyone who has information about this crime, such as the identity of the thief, is asked to submit their knowledge to Champaign County Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted by calling 217-373-8477, visiting the organization's website or using the P3 Tips app. All tips to Crime Stoppers are both anonymous, even to law enforcement, and eligible for a cash reward if an arrest is made using the tip. SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Sangamon/Menard County Crime Stoppers is assisting the Springfield Fire Department in an arson investigation, and they are asking for help from the public in solving the case. Officials said the fire happened on Monday around 3 a.m. at Butternut Hut in downtown Springfield. A suspect was recorded on video breaking a window to the business and throwing something inside that was already on fire. When the object landed, it burst and the fire started to expand. Danville Park sees three fires in one night At the time of the crime, people were living in the apartments above the business. Officials did not say if there were any injuries. The suspect was recorded wearing dark clothing and carrying a tan bag on their back. Anyone with knowledge of the suspect's identity is asked to submit a tip to Crime Stoppers by calling 217-788-8427, visiting their website or using the P3 Tips app. All tips to Crime Stoppers are both anonymous and eligible for a cash reward should an arrest be made. To improve your experience update it here An 11-year-old boy is pleading for a heartless hit and run driver to come forward after he was knocked off his bike and left for dead on his way home from school. Suhas Sunkisala was struck while cycling through a pedestrian crossing along Railway Parade in Murrumbeena on May 1. "I was heading towards the zebra crossing then I saw a car slow down at the speed breaker and then I crossed at the zebra crossing and the car sped up and it hit me," Suhas said. The year 6 student spent two nights at the Royal Children's Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery on his leg. Arrest made in deadly Seattle motorcycle hit-and-run

The Seattle Police Department says they've arrested a man, believed to have hit and killed a woman with his motorcycle. Officers say the 43-year-old is in the hospital for a medical evaluation and could be facing a number of charges including vehicular homicide. The crash happened April 18 at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Alaska Street in Seattle. Min Huang and her husband were walking in a crosswalk when they police say they were hit by a motorcycle, believed to be a Honda Goldwing. The driver took off, sparking a several-week search. The woman's family is offering $20,000 for tips that lead to an arrest and charges in the case. That is in addition to the $1,000 reward already being offered by Crime Stoppers. Second suspect arrested, three others wanted after violent home invasion in east Windsor

Windsor police are providing an update on a violent home invasion in east Windsor earlier this year. Officers have arrested a second suspect and issued warrants for three others. Five suspects forced entry into a residence in the 2500 block of Luxury Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. on Jan. 13, 2025. Home invasion Windsor Police say two elderly victims were assaulted and bound. Both sustained non-life-threatening physical injuries. The suspects stole a quantity of items before fleeing the scene in a Hyundai Tucson, which was stolen from the residence. On Feb. 14, officers arrested and charged 25-year-old Manal Khalaf. She was charged with a total of nine offences, including break-and-enter to commit robbery, robbery with an offensive weapon, and assault causing bodily harm. Investigators with the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit have since identified four additional suspects. Shortly before 10 a.m. on April 29, officers located and arrested Rana Chehada, 42, in the 2200 block of Highland Avenue. She has been charged with two counts of robbery with violence. Arrest warrants have been issued for the remaining three suspects. Husien Khalaf, 27, Alaa Khalaf, 19, and a 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are all wanted for the following charges: Break-and-enter to commit robbery Robbery with an offensive weapon Robbery Assault causing bodily harm Assault with a weapon Assault Forcible confinement Uttering death threats Theft of a motor vehicle Husien Khalaf is described as a Middle Eastern man, 5'3' tall, approximately 150 lbs, with a small build, full beard, black hair, and brown eyes. Alaa Khalaf is described as a Middle Eastern man, 5'4' tall, approximately 119 lbs, with a small build, short black goatee, black hair, and brown eyes.
