Sebokeng SAPS conduct school search operation
SEBOKENG.-The Sebokeng Police recently collaborated with Sector Managers, Community Policing Forum, Youth Crime Prevention Desk, Gauteng Traffic Wardens and Siyabangena Patrollers to conduct a school search operation at Sizanani Secondary School in Zone 13 Sebokeng. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that the aim of this operations was to address the learners about, substance abuse, possession of dangerous weapons, gangsterism, bullying, sexual offenses and other crimes that may affect learners. 'The operations will be conducted weekly at random schools in order to make schools safer and crime free. Some learners tend to recruit others to be gang members or introduce them to illegal substances, therefore schools are no longer treated as a place of learning. The Station Commander Brigadier Thembekile Kubone would like to encourage parents to assist the police in anyway possible, and further plead that if parents notice any unusual behavior in their children to contact Sebokeng SAPS Social Crime Prevention for further assistance.' Sebokeng police arrest 38 suspects
SEBOKENG. – The Easter weekend crime blitz by Sebokeng police led to the arrest of 38 suspects linked to various serious offenses committed within the Sebokeng policing precinct. The suspects were arrested during routine patrols and tracing operations conducted between last Thursday and Sunday. Police spokesperson, Nthabiseng Mokhachane, said that the charges ranged from possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition murder, malicious damage to property, possession of drugs, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), undocumented persons, common assault related to domestic violence, drunk and driving, and shoplifting. Station Commander, Brigadier Thembekile Kubone, commended the officers for their commitment during Easter operations. 'I believe we will reach positive outcomes as the commitment shown by our members was outstanding. I would also like to thank members of the public who continue to provide valuable information anonymously.' Police have urged residents to play an active role in crime prevention by reporting criminal activity and participating in community patrol structures. Man's body found burned at Zone 7 soccer ground
SEBOKENG.- A case of murder is being investigated after a body of a man was found burned in Zone 7, Sebokeng on Friday. It is alleged that the deceased was last seen at a tavern at Pitikoe/Terene in Smallfarms. He was later found in an open field next to Zone 7 Sebokeng soccer ground. Although his body was burned, he was able to be identified by his mother. On Sunday, April 20, the suspects responsible for the brutal murder were arrested and will soon appear before the court of law. It is currently unknown why the deceased was murdered. Brigadier Thembekile Kubone stated that such acts will not be tolerated in any way, she added, 'In South African law, murder is defined as the unlawful and intentional killing of another human being. This means it involves a deliberate act with the intention to cause death, resulting in the victim's death. Murder is a serious crime in South Africa, punishable by a minimum sentence of 15 years imprisonment and potentially life imprisonment. So if one murders another person they must consider the consequences they will face.'
