'We ask for continued patience and cooperation from the community as our police services work diligently to gather information and bring clarity to this situation,' the release said. Two men, ages 19 and 20, 'have been taken into custody in connection with the occurrence.' 'There is no ongoing threat to public safety. Three people have been arrested and stolen electronics recovered after the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) executed two search warrants in connection with recent break-ins at a local school. The warrants, carried out on Wednesday were part of an investigation into a series of break and enters at Wiikwemkoong Junior School. The thefts, which occurred in recent weeks, involved several computers and disrupted school operations. At a residence on Hills Trail, officers recovered stolen computers linked to the incidents. A 42-year-old woman was arrested for breaching her release conditions, along with a 31-year-old man wanted for failing to comply with his release terms. A second search on Wakegijig Avenue led to the arrest of a 32-year-old man, who is charged with possession of property obtained by crime, break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, theft, mischief, resisting a peace officer and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order. Three injured in side-by-side crash on Manitoulin Island

A crash involving a side-by-side on Manitoulin Island on Sunday morning sent three people to hospital. Emergency crews were called to the single-vehicle collision on Murray Hill Road in Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory around 8:30 a.m., Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service said on social media. 'Two of the occupants have been transported to Health Sciences North and one occupant was transported to Little Current Hospital,' police said. 'The injuries sustained by some of the occupants are serious.' An investigation is underway with the help of the Ontario Provincial Police collision reconstruction team. 'If anyone has information with respect to this investigation, please contact the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service.'

(Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service/Facebook) Two individuals are facing drug trafficking charges after a late-night traffic stop led to the seizure of suspected cocaine and fentanyl. The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service conducted the stop shortly after 1:30 a.m. on May 25. Officers arrested the vehicle's two occupants – a 42-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man – recovering the suspected drugs along with weapons and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Authorities said the estimated street value of the drugs was $11,000. Both suspects were charged with two counts of drug trafficking. The woman faces additional charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and obstructing a peace officer. They are scheduled to appear in court on July 29. In a social media post, police emphasized the role of community vigilance in combating crime. 'Reporting suspicious activities or concerns promptly can prevent crimes and help law enforcement act swiftly,' said Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service. Residents are encouraged to submit tips through the service's new online reporting system or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
