NFL analyst says this Rams defender could be a first-time Pro Bowler in 2025

The Los Angeles Rams have a lot of potential Pro Bowlers heading into the 2025 season. Jared Verse, the only Rams player to make the Pro Bowl in 2024, is the most likely one to earn another nod. Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua, Davante Adams and Kyren Williams are all good enough to make the team, too. But Kevin Patra believes one other Rams player has the chance to make his first Pro Bowl: Defensive end Braden Fiske. Seemingly every report out of Rams camp this summer has touched on Fiske standing out in a crowded defensive front. The focus most of the offseason had rightly been on Jared Verse, a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, but Fiske deserves some love. Last season, Fiske generated 44 pressures and 8.5 sacks -- not too shabby for a rookie DT. His 10.9% QB pressure rate ranked ninth among all defensive tackles last season. While big men rarely walk from college to the Pro Bowl, we do generally see sizeable leaps from the truly elite after a full offseason in the NFL. Fiske boasts the power, interior quickness, strength and hands to be a menace alongside Verse, Byron Young, Kobie Turner, Poona Ford and the rest of the Rams' fearsome front. Fiske had the accolades to make it as a rookie, but defensive end is harder with bigger names like Nick Bosa or Micah Parsons on the board. He'll need to have another insane season to make the Pro Bowl, but he's proven to have the ability to garner almost double-digit sacks on his own. If Fiske can make the Year 2 leap, there's no reason why he can't also earn a Pro Bowl nod in 2025.

Patriots' Former First-Round Pick Making Waves As Potential Trade Chip

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New England Patriots are already positioned to be much better this season than they were in 2024, which isn't saying much. With quarterback Drake Maye at the helm looking to take the Year 2 leap, the expectations are rising in New England. With that in mind, they could begin to make some aggressive moves in an attempt to speed the rebuild up quite a bit. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox recently listed former first-round pick Cole Strange as a potential trade candidate for the Patriots ahead of the regular season. FOXBOROUGH, MA - JULY 29: A New England Patriots logo is seen on a helmet on the field during training camp at Gillette Stadium on July 29, 2025 in Foxborough, Massachusetts. FOXBOROUGH, MA - JULY 29: A New England Patriots logo is seen on a helmet on the field during training camp at Gillette Stadium on July 29, 2025 in Foxborough, Massachusetts."While the 27-year-old has started 29 games for the Patriots, he missed most of last season with a knee injury, had his fifth-year option declined, and appears to be on the roster bubble," Knox wrote. "With Caeden Wallace, free-agent addition Garrett Bradbury, and rookie Jared Wilson all pushing for playing time along the interior, now might be a good time to pivot off of Strange. "He isn't likely to bring much in return via a trade, but his starting experience and draft pedigree might generate some interest. The Patriots are highly unlikely to get a compensatory pick if they allow Strange to walk in the spring -- barring a stunning change in his role and performance -- so any return to go with $2.4 million in cap savings could be viewed as a win." Strange has played a lot with the Patriots since being drafted in the first round, but that's not saying much considering how the team has been over the last few years. This offseason, it seems like Strange is on the outside of the roster looking in. The Patriots could try to trade him to a team that needs offensive line depth in an attempt to land a late-round pick or two in the NFL Draft. Either way, it doesn't seem like Strange has much of a future with the Patriots. It's either going to be a trade, a cut or the bench for the 27-year-old. Commanders Hitting Over Hinges On Jayden Daniels' Sophomore Success

National Football League Commanders Hitting Over Hinges On Jayden Daniels' Sophomore Success Published Aug. 7, 2025 9:37 a.m. ET share facebook x reddit link This time last summer, Las Vegas bookmakers had plenty of questions about the Washington Commanders — and it made sense why. The team moved on from veteran head coach Ron Rivera, brought in a brand-new staff and drafted LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels with the second overall pick. Their season win total was set at [O/U] 6.5 games. All the Commanders did was ride Daniels to a 12-5 record, a road playoff win over the top-seeded Detroit Lions and a berth in the NFC Championship Game against the eventual world champion Philadelphia Eagles. Washington was two bad quarters away from the Super Bowl. The question now is, can they run it back? It's a polarizing question in the betting markets, where the Commanders are totaled at [O/U] 9.5 wins with prices as low as 2/1 to win the NFC East and 9/1 to win the conference. They're also favored (-145) to make the playoffs. Washington will need Daniels to avoid the ol' Year 2 regression and it feels paramount that the team successfully navigates wideout Terry McLaurin's recent trade request . McLaurin has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in five straight seasons, and he caught a career-best 13 touchdowns last year. "There's urgency to sign Terry," a source near the Commanders told me. "He's their best playmaker and one of the best deep threats in the NFL. They're trying to build around Daniels the way Baltimore did with Lamar Jackson." ADVERTISEMENT We'll see if both sides can reach an agreement. Daniels is the unquestioned headliner after completing 69% of his passes for 3,500 yards and 25 touchdowns as a rookie. He rushed for almost 900 yards and added six more scores on the ground, too. People gush over his instincts and decision-making skills. "They do a lot of virtual reality drills with him behind closed doors at super speed," the source continued. "When they challenge him mentally, they get more out of him. They know he'll be ready to go physically. "It's tough to find anyone in that building who thinks last year was a fluke." Respect for Daniels is no different among bettors and bookmakers, either. Only Jackson, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes have shorter odds to win league MVP at sportsbooks across the United States. The hype is real. Jayden Daniels' 2025 NFL MVP odds DraftKings: +750 (bet $10 to win $85 total) BetMGM: +850 (bet $10 to win $95 total) Caesars: +900 (bet $10 to win $100 total) SuperBook: +1000 (bet $10 to win $110 total) FanDuel: +1000 (bet $10 to win $110 total) Circa: +1300 (bet $10 to win $140 total) I'm hesitant to say the Commanders will match last year's surprise playoff run and expectations are understandably different when you're trying to sustain success. But offseason additions like Deebo Samuel, Laremy Tunsil, Von Miller and Javon Kinlaw provide optimism for double-digit victories. It'll also help if Washington converts close to 79% of its fourth-down conversions , a success rate that led the league a year ago. Assuming McLaurin returns to the fold, I like Washington's Over. Predicting a Steelers trade package for Commanders' Terry McLaurin after official request

Commanders star WR Terry McLaurin has officially requested a trade — and the Aaron Rodgers-led Steelers offense could more than use a wideout of his talents if they're truly all in this season. Less than 40 days away from the start of the 2025 regular season, the Commanders may need to be swept off their feet to consider trading away McLaurin — and this trade package prediction from Pittsburgh does exactly that. The Steelers traded a 2025 second-round pick to the Seahawks for DK Metcalf — whose production has been only slightly below McLaurin's since 2019 — making a similar, slightly greater offer here justifiable. Steelers receive: Commanders receive: While many may scoff at the idea of sending away Wilson along with a second- and fourth-round draft pick, the Commanders have a young, hungry roster ready to compete — and likely wouldn't part with an All-Pro caliber wideout unless they receive a pass catcher to assist QB Jayden Daniels in return. The Steelers traded a 2025 second-round pick to the Seahawks for DK Metcalf — whose production has been only slightly below McLaurin's since 2019. Acquiring McLaurin isn't as difficult as finding a way to balance paying him an average salary of $30 million-plus while bringing back some impending free agents next offseason — but the Steelers have $45.5 million of 2026 cap space, so a big extension isn't outside the realm of possibility. Despite rumors of the Steelers low-balling teams regarding trade-target wideouts, McLaurin is too great a talent to pass up — even if that means parting ways with a second-round pick and a potential Year 2 breakout candidate in Wilson. Falcons RB Bijan Robinson deemed 2025 MVP candidate by NFL.com

Third-year Falcons running back Bijan Robinson listed as MVP candidate ahead of 2025 NFL season It's been nine years since a member of the Atlanta Falcons last won the league MVP. Former Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan took home the award in 2016 following his remarkable season. Ryan passed for 4,944 yards, 38 touchdowns and seven touchdowns while leading the team to a division title and eventual berth in the Super Bowl. As Atlanta prepares for the start of training camp next week, a different player has emerged in the MVP conversation. Not only was third-year running back Bijan Robinson our choice for the team's most valuable non-quarterback, but now has taken it a step further by listing Robinson as the Falcons' top MVP candidate for 2025. Bijan Robinson named MVP candidate by Some will disagree with this choice, and given that only three running backs have won an MVP award since 2001 (and none since 2012), history is on my skeptics' side. Look at Saquon Barkley last year -- he racked up 2,283 yards from scrimmage, registered just the ninth 2,000-yard rushing season in league annals … and finished third in the balloting. It's going to take a Barkley-esque yardage total and 20-plus TDs, I suspect, for Robinson to be a serious candidate. But I like his chances better right now than those of Michael Penix Jr., a talented but unproven quarterback. He's probably capable of a Joe Burrow-like Year 2, but expecting that level of individual success is just a big leap for me at the moment. -- Eric Edholm, As Edholm pointed out, the league MVP is almost always awarded to the NFL's top quarterback. Bills quarterback Josh Allen won the award last season despite there being two worthy running backs in Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry. For Robinson to secure the award, he would need to have one of the best seasons in NFL history, and the Falcons would probably have to win their division. The former top-10 pick certainly has a nose for the end zone, scoring 23 total touchdowns over his first two NFL seasons. Robinson could realistically flirt with the 2,000-yard rushing milestone next year as well. However, there are so many factors outside of Robinson's control that it's hard to see him winning MVP this season. If the Falcons go out and dominate, though, don't be surprised to see Penix in the mix. Atlanta officially reports for training camp on July 23. The first of the team's 11 open practices begins on July 24. Make sure to check out our latest 53-man roster projection for the Falcons ahead of the 2025 season.
