Predicting a Steelers trade package for Commanders' Terry McLaurin after official request
Less than 40 days away from the start of the 2025 regular season, the Commanders may need to be swept off their feet to consider trading away McLaurin — and this trade package prediction from Pittsburgh does exactly that.
The Steelers traded a 2025 second-round pick to the Seahawks for DK Metcalf — whose production has been only slightly below McLaurin's since 2019 — making a similar, slightly greater offer here justifiable.

While many may scoff at the idea of sending away Wilson along with a second- and fourth-round draft pick, the Commanders have a young, hungry roster ready to compete — and likely wouldn't part with an All-Pro caliber wideout unless they receive a pass catcher to assist QB Jayden Daniels in return.

Acquiring McLaurin isn't as difficult as finding a way to balance paying him an average salary of $30 million-plus while bringing back some impending free agents next offseason — but the Steelers have $45.5 million of 2026 cap space, so a big extension isn't outside the realm of possibility.
Despite rumors of the Steelers low-balling teams regarding trade-target wideouts, McLaurin is too great a talent to pass up — even if that means parting ways with a second-round pick and a potential Year 2 breakout candidate in Wilson.
