Minister inspects Mardan development work

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhaw Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru visited Sheikh Maltoon Town Mardan, where he inspected the ongoing development projects and reviewed the pace and quality of the work. Chairman Neighborhood Council Sheikh Maltoon Town Arsalan Toru and officers of the relevant departments were also present on this occasion. While inspecting various development schemes, the Minister directed the officers to ensure transparency in development works at all levels and any kind of corruption would not be tolerated in this regard. He said that it is imperative to complete the ongoing projects within the stipulated time so that the people can benefit from the fruits of these development projects as soon as possible. He further said that public welfare projects are a big trust and strict action will be taken against any kind of negligence in them. The residents of Town welcomed the Minister and his interest in the development works and expressed hope that the projects would be completed soon and play an important role in the development. Meanwhile, the grand final of the Inter-Madrasa and University Cricket League for Peace was held in Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar, in which Peshawar University clinched the title. Advisor to Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif attended the event as a chief guest stating that such tournaments are instrumental in nurturing skilled athletes capable of representing the nation on national and international stages. For the past two months, around 130 players from five prominent madrasas and five leading universities across the province participated in the cricket tournament. The event was organized through a dynamic collaboration between the Inter-Religious Council for Reconciliation and Advocacy (IRCRA) and the K-P government.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Food Department has finalized a comprehensive strategy for the holy month of Ramazan to ensure the availability of essential food items, control prices, and curb the sale of substandard food products. The initiative has been taken on the directive of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru. To effectively counter artificial inflation, hoarding and the sale of low-quality food, the department has constituted special teams across the province. Speaking on the Ramazan strategy, Provincial Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru stated that the Food Safety & Halal Food Authority would conduct extensive inspections throughout Ramazan to guarantee the availability of safe and high-quality food for the general public. He further highlighted that food authority teams would set up checkpoints at the entry points of major cities, including Peshawar, to prevent the supply of substandard food items. Additionally, he said, pre-Ramazan inspections would focus on raw materials of dairy-based products such as milkshakes, snacks, ice cream and other food items to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. He further said that, under the Ramazan and pre-Ramazan strategy, divisional deputy directors of the food department and district food controllers would oversee raids against hoarders while strict monitoring of food availability and pricing in markets would continue throughout the holy month. Warning food businesses involved in hoarding and food adulteration, Toru reaffirmed that strict legal action would be taken against those responsible for artificial price hikes and the sale of substandard food.

Crackdown ordered against hoarders ahead of Ramazan

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru has ordered strict legal action against those involved in hoarding and artificially inflating the prices of essential food items during the holy month of Ramazan. He said that no leniency would be shown in this regard. Toru made these remarks while presiding over a review meeting on the strategy to maintain price stability and curb artificial inflation and hoarding during the holy month. The meeting was attended by Secretary Food Saqib Raza Aslam and senior food department officials. During the meeting, secretary food briefed the minister about measures being implemented across the province. He informed him that special teams have been formed to tackle artificial inflation and hoarding effectively. "The teams will operate at the divisional level under the supervision of Deputy Directors of Food and District Food Controllers in their respective areas," he said. The secretary further stated that the teams would not only hold meetings with businesses dealing in flour, sugar, and other essential commodities but would also conduct inspections and raids to ensure price stability and curb hoarding. The minister directed the officials to take all possible steps to provide relief to the public in Ramazan. He reiterated that those exploiting citizens through artificial price hikes and hoarding would face strict legal consequences. "The provincial government is committed to facilitating the common man. No one will be allowed to loot the public by creating an artificial food crisis," he said. The meeting concluded with instructions to relevant officials to closely monitor market prices and the availability of essential commodities throughout Ramazan and to take immediate action against any violation.
