After AAP's counsel urged the court to stay the June 20 reminder notice demanding the rent, the Centre's lawyer said "nothing" would happen till the next hearing.
The Centre's counsel said there was no urgency in the matter as it was only a notice and they would be proceeding in line with the Public Premises (
Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants
) Act.

AAP has claimed the decision of the
Directorate of Estates
,
Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
, was ex parte and passed without any showcause notice or a reasonable opportunity to be heard.
Its counsel argued the Directorate of Estates allegedly cancelled the allotment of a double suite in Vithalbhai Patel House with effect from September 14, 2024, without any information and belatedly conveyed the same to the petitioner for the first time in a letter dated January 17.
The petitioner handed over the possession of the premises on April 30, the counsel added.
In a fresh plea, AAP said the Directorate of Estates on June 20 re-issued the bills in the form of a reminder through which the authorities have re-affirmed the arbitrary eviction of the petitioner from its state party office via the ex-parte cancellation order of September 14, 2024.
AAP said in letters issued on March 6 and May 13, the authority demanded rent of over Rs 8 lakh for occupying the premises from the time period beginning the date of alleged cancellation.
It, therefore, urged the court to stay the communication.
"Directorate of Estates passed an ex parte order cancelling the allotment of the subject accommodation, that is, Double Suite at 514, VP House, New Delhi, to the petitioner, with an ultimatum of handing over its physical possession within a period of thirty days. This ex parte order has not been conveyed to the petitioner to date," AAP's plea said.

Kaladan project to be operational by '27, will unlock trade opportunities: Sonowal
Guwahati: The Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project (KMTTP) will be fully operational by 2027, said Union minister for ports, shipping and waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati on Monday. The project aims to reduce the distance between the northeast and the rest of India through a sea route. While Sonowal mentioned that the Sittwe port in Myanmar (under the project) is ready, work is ongoing to develop road connectivity to Mizoram. Sonowal said, "This is a strategic initiative to enhance connectivity between India's northeast and Myanmar — set to be fully operational by 2027. Empowered by Modi ji's transformative 'Act East' policy, this once landlocked region is now poised for direct and shorter access to international sea routes." KMTTP is the result of the India-Myanmar Friendship Treaty. This project connects Mizoram to Kolkata through Myanmar and primarily involves Rakhine State and Chin State in Myanmar. It connects the port of Sittwe in Rakhine State to Paletwa in Chin State via the Kaladan river in Myanmar. However, prolonged violence in Rakhine and Chin states amid civil war due to armed conflict between rebel groups and the Myanmar military resulted in considerable delays in the completion and operationalisation of the project. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like AI is helping small businesses increase productivity. Insider Learn More Undo From Sittwe port to Kaladan river, the distance is 159km, and through this river route, consignments can reach Paletwa. From Paletwa to Zorinpui, it is a 110km journey via road, where road construction is ongoing. From Zorinpui to Aizawl, it's another 100km. "If the waterways can be developed, the Aizawl to Kolkata distance, which is 1,800km, can be minimised by 700km from the original distance by road," Sonowal said. Once fully operational, Sonowal said the region will unlock new trade opportunities also for Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Myanmar by connecting them with Southeast Asia. From Sittwe in Myanmar to Sabroom in Tripura, goods from Kolkata to Sittwe Port can be shipped to Teknaf Port, Bangladesh, which is just 60 nautical miles from Sittwe. From Teknaf Port, goods can be transported by road to Sabroom, which is 300 km away. Sabroom has an integrated customs border between Bangladesh and Tripura. In other areas, Sonowal said that the Modi govt has planned a Rs 5,000-crore investment to develop northeast waterways. "50,000 northeast youth will get maritime skill training and job opportunities over the next decade," Sonowal affirmed.

MLA accuses ZPM of funds mismanagement
Aizawl: K Hrahmo, a BJP MLA in Mizoram, on Monday unleashed a scathing attack on the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) govt, accusing it of failing to secure Centre-funded projects as well as mismanaging the state's finances, reports HC Vanlalruata. Speaking at a political session organised by Mizoram BJP , Hrahmo criticised the govt's inability to implement effective projects, claiming that the few they had executed were classified as 'departmental works', preventing the collection of GST. "From Jan to June 2025, GST collections have continued to decline. A major issue here is the state's inability to secure project funds from the Centre, which has caused a significant financial gap," Hrahmo said.

Delhi Speaker Junks Rs 94-Lakh Bathroom Makeover Claim, Congress Hits Back
New Delhi: A fresh political face-off has erupted between the Delhi Assembly Speaker and the Congress over the alleged Rs 2.35 crore renovation of the Speaker's official residence, including a reported Rs 94.69 lakh spent on bathrooms alone. The war of words has escalated after Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav dubbed the residence 'Shauchmahal', mirroring the BJP's earlier 'Sheeshmahal' jibe at former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Speaker Vijender Gupta's office, in a formal letter to Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Devender Yadav, has demanded an immediate withdrawal of his remarks and an unconditional apology within three days. Calling the allegations "baseless," the letter accused Mr Yadav of misrepresenting facts and undermining the dignity of a Constitutional post for political mileage. The letter also disputed the Congress' claim that the residence in question is located at 9, Shamnath Marg, asserting that it is not the Speaker's official address. It warned that such "false and misleading" statements were unbecoming of a former MLA. Mr Yadav, however, has refused to back down. The DPCC said the figures cited were based on official documents and publicly available records, including the Delhi government's own website, and insisted the concerns raised were valid. "We stand by the facts. If public money is being spent excessively on luxury renovations, the public has a right to know," the Delhi Congress letter said, claiming that the Speaker, who once criticised the former CM's residence renovation as 'Sheeshmahal', should apply the same standards to his own office. The Congress also questioned the Speaker's outrage, asking "Why object to a statement based on government records? Why demand an apology for asking questions of public interest?" The party has framed the issue as one of transparency and accountability. "We have raised the issue of the expenditure involved in the renovation of the Speaker's official residence in the same spirit of accountability responsibility we share as representatives of a responsible national opposition party," their response read.
