In recent months, the singer's fans—affectionately known as Swifties—predicted she would be releasing her 12th studio album soon.
And on Tuesday, Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl in a teaser video for her New Heights interview, which was released on Wednesday.
The "Fortnight" singer brought a mint green and orange briefcase with her to assist with the reveal.
"So I wanted to show you something," she said, as Travis and Jason Kelce patiently waited for more.
"This is my brand new album The Life of a Showgirl," she shared after pulling the record out of the briefcase, prompting screams from Jason Kelce.
"TS 12!" Travis Kelce—who is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs—said, referring to her 12th album.
What People Are Saying
Following Swift's announcement, celebrities took to social media to share their thoughts.

During an appearance on the Today show on Wednesday, Margaret Qualley—who is married to Swift's collaborator Jack Antonoff—addressed a question about her album: "I don't know anything, but we'll all be excited to listen to music."
Other celebrities, meanwhile, reacted to Swift's New Heights podcast.
WNBA star Caitlin Clark, a well-known Swiftie, wrote on X: "Are we sure YouTube isn't going to crash tonight?"
After New Heights did, in fact, encounter technical difficulties, Clark later remarked: "Swifties so powerful we broke the internet."

Will Taylor Swift Play Super Bowl 2026? Her Fans Have a Theory
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. This week, Taylor Swift announced her highly anticipated 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, during an appearance on New Heights, the podcast co-hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Now, Swift's excited fans have a theory that she left an Easter egg in the episode. Swifties believe the singer has left a trail of clues suggesting that she is performing as the halftime entertainer at the upcoming Super Bowl. Newsweek has contacted a representative for Swift for comment via email outside regular working hours. Why It Matters The Life of a Showgirl marks Swift's first album release since her record-breaking Eras Tour—the highest-grossing tour in history—wrapped in December. Earlier this year, Swift bought back the rights to the master recordings of her first six albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation. "You belong with me," she wrote on social media on May 30 alongside a photo of herself surrounded by her albums—a reference to her 2008 song by the same name from her sophomore album. The Life of a Showgirl is Swift's 12th record and the fifth one she has released in the past five years, following Folklore (2020), Evermore (2020), Midnights (2022) and The Tortured Poets Department (2024). Taylor Swift cheers from a suite as the Kansas City Chiefs play the Chicago Bears at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri on September 24, 2023. Taylor Swift cheers from a suite as the Kansas City Chiefs play the Chicago Bears at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri on September 24, To Know Swift's fans have been buzzing with excitement and theories following the pop superstar's announcement earlier this week, but one theory in particular is gaining ground with her fan base. During the two-hour-long podcast, which has been viewed more than 16 million times on YouTube, Swift discussed her hobbies outside making music, which include baking sourdough bread. She said, "I'm really talking about bread 60 percent of the time now." While this may seem like an innocuous comment, in the Taylor Swift fandom nothing is ever treated as such. In an Instagram reel from Grind City Media, Jessica Benson, a reporter who covers pop culture and sport, said, "I think Taylor Swift is going to be the Super Bowl halftime show performer." "I don't think Taylor Swift is actually baking sourdough bread. I think it was an Easter egg," Benson said. The Super Bowl LX is scheduled to take place at Levi's Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, and Benson noted that the 49ers' mascot is Sourdough Sam. The Grind City Media reel has been viewed more than 7 million times. The account @swiftiesforeternity also promoted the theory, writing in the text overlay of an Instagram post: "Taylor's 47th show was at Levi's Stadium. That's where super bowl 60 is... which is the 49ers stadium... and their mascot? 'SOURDOUGH SAM,' Taylor said she talks about sourdough 60 percent of the time, and kept saying 47 in the podcast." Swift is known for leaving a trail of clues for her fans that hint to upcoming albums, song lyrics or other key events for the singer. "I want Easter eggs to be a certain thing where if you are part of the fandom and you want to experience music in a normal way, then you don't even see these," she said during the New Heights episode, adding, "But if you want to look at that then it's there." For those searching for potential Super Bowl-themed Easter eggs, the podcast itself may be one. Some Taylor Swift fans were a little dismayed by the superstar choosing to announce her new album on a sports podcast, but if she is hinting at a Super Bowl performance, it could all be part of a bigger picture. It wouldn't be the first time that an appearance of Swift's has been an Easter egg. During the podcast, she referenced what she described as one of her favorite Easter eggs: the commencement speech she gave when she received an honorary doctorate from New York University in 2022. "I put so many lyrical Easter eggs in that speech that when the Midnights album came out after that, the fans were like, 'The whole speech was an Easter egg,'" Swift said on the podcast. Fans on social media have also noted that a silver football and a silver microphone were sitting behind Swift during her podcast appearance and that the singer made multiple references to the number 47 during the episode. Fans believe this is an Easter egg because her 47th show of the Eras Tour was at Levi's Stadium. It is important to note that Swift's fans regularly theorize about the singer's next move, and their theories often fall short, a phenomenon known in the fandom as "clowning." The theories about Swift being a halftime performer are all speculative and fan-driven. There has been no confirmation from the signer or the NFL that she will perform at the Super Bowl. What People Are Saying Taylor Swift said on the New Heights podcast: "As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast, and um, I think we all know that if there's one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens, it's more of me." X user @chartstswift wrote in a post viewed more than 1.4 million times: "Taylor Swift could be hinting at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show: On 'New Heights,' Taylor said she has watched every Super Bowl halftime show, thinks about sourdough '60 percent of the time,' and mentioned the number 47 several times. Coincidentally, or not, Sourdough is the San Francisco 49ers' mascot. The 49ers will host the 60th Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium—which also happened to be the 47th stop on the Eras Tour. And, of course, 2026 will be Travis Kelce's 13th NFL season." What Happens Next Super Bowl LX is scheduled for February 8, 2026, in Santa Clara, California. The halftime performer is often announced in the early portion of the regular NFL season, around September.

Taylor Swift just launched fall's 'it' beauty color — and it's surprisingly wearable for women over 40
Yes, you can pull off orange makeup — shop our picks from Nars, Rare Beauty and more. At this point, it's fair to say that whenever Taylor Swift does something, the world takes note. Whether it's popularizing glitter freckles or convincing adult women to wear friendship bracelets, the singer is undoubtedly a major trendsetter in the beauty and fashion worlds. Her latest trick? Turning orange into the new black. After numerous orange-themed Easter eggs, unveiling the orange-and-mint green cover of her forthcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl and wearing a pumpkin-pie-hued lipstick on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast, New Heights, Swift is turning orange into hottest color of the year. Which makes it the perfect time to experiment with adding the shade in your makeup routine! Aside from Swift's leanings toward the hue, as a beauty editor who tracks trends, I'd say orange makeup couldn't come at a more perfect time. Yes, we're still in the woes and throes of summer, but fall is right around the corner and orange practically screams autumnal. Honestly, the thought of wearing a blush or lip oil the color of a glorious California sunset would definitely keep my serotonin pumping throughout the rest of the year. Plus, if you believe in color psychology, orange is typically associated with joy, optimism, energy and comfort. All nice things! According to Dougall Fraser's book, Your Life in Color, Confucianism "considered orange to be the color of metamorphosis and renewal." That lines up with what Swift said about her color choice on the podcast: 'It feels like energetically how my life has felt, and this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during [The Eras Tour], which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant. 'Now, if you're thinking, 'Orange? That's a hard 'no' for me' I understand the hesitancy. Such a bright, bold color can run the risk of a clown-makeup territory. And, especially, if you're a "mature" woman, it might seem like a garish choice. However, orange can actually look ultra-sophisticated and pulling it off is much easier (and more flattering) than you'd think. It's really all about finding the right orange for you. If you're not into the idea of big, bold orange shades, the trick is to choose softer, more neutral hues, like cinnamon or terracotta. If you have cooler undertones to your skin, go for an orangey-pink, coral lipstick or blush. If you're more on the warm or neutral side, orangey-red lipsticks look fab. Deeper skin tones look stunning in the bolder, more vibrant orange shades while fairer skin tones work well with soft peach hues. According to Oscar and Emmy award-winning makeup artist Linda Dowds, "Orange can be one of those tricky colors, [but] for me, orange exudes confidence and strength — the right orange lip can rival any red!' You heard her! Let's open our minds and live a little! Here are my favorite fall makeup picks to try out the orange beauty trend. If you have Amazon Prime, you'll get free shipping, of course. Travis Kelce, those shirtless GQ photos and how masculinity is changing
Travis Kelce has been everywhere this week. On Aug 12, he was shirtless on the cover of GQ. In the photoshoot, Kelce presents a stereotypical (and exaggerated) embodiment of masculinity — he is dressed in full fur, construction vests and wrangles alligators. He's unflinching while wrapped in a snake. But in the interview, he also embraces vulnerability, grapples with self-doubt and talks about it openly – celebrating his superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift, in the process. The following day, Swift made her highly anticipated debut as a guest on Kelce's "New Heights" podcast, during which she announced her 12th studio album, 'The Life of a Showgirl.' Kelce said she's "the best songwriter in the world." Swift countered with "says my boyfriend,' but isn't that exactly how boyfriends should talk about their partners? His pride in talking about Swift along with his openness in his GQ interview sets a critical example for young men today. Mental health experts say it's crucial for boys and young men to understand the importance of showing emotion, which can contribute to building long-lasting relationships and overall mental wellness. 'It's breaking the masculine code, stepping out of the man box, and saying, 'Yeah, I'm vulnerable,'" said Ronald Levant, a professor emeritus of psychology at The University of Akron and co-author of 'The Problem with Men: Insights on Overcoming a Traumatic Childhood from a World-Renowned Psychologist." 'Black cat boyfriends' and a new dawn for emotional men We're living through the rise of the "black cat boyfriend" — an archetype of elusive, emotionally complex love interests in shows like "Too Much" (Felix), "The Summer I Turned Pretty" (Conrad) and "Ginny and Georgia" (Marcus). And while it seems like viewers are rooting for vulnerable men now more than ever, we've always had a soft spot for the complicated character with a good heart. Just look at Jess from 'Gilmore Girls" or Lucas from 'One Tree Hill." Celebrities are also having a moment when it comes to vulnerability. In January, a viral video of Bad Bunny crying after his song "DTMF" blew up on TikTok opened up a conversation around men and emotion. 'Bad Bunny signals to young men that it's not only acceptable, but also healthy to confront and express their feelings, which is something that men and young boys haven't been taught to do,' Sheldon Jacobs, a licensed therapist who serves on the National Alliance on Mental Illness Board of Directors, previously told USA TODAY. 'It's really pushing and challenging those cultural norms.' In Kelce's GQ interview, he said it is difficult to "block out" the increased media scrutiny. He admits that despite his inability to control what people say about him, it does affect him. "If someone says something that they don't like about you, you have to be able to understand how you are portraying yourself for them to say that," he says. "I'm a guy who doesn't want anyone to say anything negative about me. Some people don't give a (expletive). I'm someone who does care.' He wants to be someone young people can look up to, he told GQ: "I do want people to look at me like I'm doing good in the world, I'm influencing and using my platform for the better, being a role model, being somebody that has done it the right way." What's a 'black cat boyfriend' and why is everyone obsessed with them? Travis Kelce is Swift's biggest hypeman When Swift finally posted Kelce on her Instagram feed, Swifties celebrated. They've praised Kelce for "loving her out loud" — his joy over her accomplishments, and her happiness to have him by her side through them shines. "When we feel confident in our partner, it can feel great to show them off," Kimberly Vered Shashoua, a licensed clinical social worker, previously told USA TODAY. On "New Heights," Swift shared that she couldn't have been happier to be near Travis the moment she got her masters back. She ran into the next room sobbing to break the news, and even he shed a tear. "I started crying too, you know I'm a crier," he said. "You were weeping," Swift quipped. In the words of Swift herself: Kelce and Swift "show up for each other." "You want to keep things private, but at the same time... I'm not here to hide anything," Kelce said in June 2024. "That's my girl, that's my lady, I'm proud of that." Contributing: Rachel Hale, David Oliver
