Asda making huge change in all 205 supermarket cafés from this week

Asda has slashed the price of its popular café meal deal to just 60p for the month of May to celebrate the supermarket's 60th birthday.
The supermarket first launched its £1 café offer for kids under 16 in June 2022 to help parents during the school holidays. However, it was introduced all year round in 2023.
Today's update cuts the price to just 60p, which means a family with four children can get a hot meal for less than £2.50. According to Asda, over six million £1 kids café meals have been sold to date – peaking at 40,000 per week during school holidays
The new 60p price will run from May 1 until May 31 and it will be available in over 205 Asda café's across the UK. Under the deal, families can choose from nine different meals including Penna Pasta with Meatballs, Chicken Nuggets, Fish Fingers and Margherita pizza.
In addition, families who purchase the hot kids 60p meal deal will also get a free piece of fruit, such as an apple, pear, or banana.
Asda says its initiative "stands apart" from other supermarket chains as there are no minimum spend requirements, plus there is no need to purchase an adult meal to unlock the offer.
As an alternative to a hot meal, Asda café also offers a £1 cold pick-and-mix selection, including a sandwich, drink, and piece of fruit. The menu includes new additions such as a jelly pot with whole fruit pieces or a jelly squeeze pouch as an alternative to a pack of crisps. This deal will also be reduced to 60p from May 1.

We've served over six million meals since we first launched the initiative in 2022, proving what a lifeline it is to families across the UK, so I'm delighted that we can drop the price to 60p this May and hope to reduce some of that pressure even further.'

Spain bar shootings: Who was Glasgow man Ross Monaghan?
It was inevitable that, as the Lyons family climbed the ladder of organised crime, Monaghan would become a key lieutenant, his relationship with Eddie and Steven said to be 'like that of brothers'. However, while most involved in such high level crime operate under the radar, Monaghan, who grew up just outside Glasgow, found his name in the headlines after he was arrested his late 20s over one of Scotland's most notorious gangland slayings. There, he met drug dealer Stephen Glen, who was linked to the Lyons family and, a court later heard, Carroll told him: 'You're working for me now. Anybody that doesn't fall into line is going to get banged.' The Gerbil was then sitting in the back of a black Audi A3 in the supermarket carpark when a Volkswagen Golf swerved to a halt in front of the vehicle as horrified shoppers looked on. Two masked men emerged from the Golf and opened fire, through the passenger windows, with Carroll shot 13 times in the head and chest in an attack that lasted 25 seconds. The murder trial followed, only for Monaghan to be sensationally acquitted in May 2012 after a judge ruled there was insufficient evidence to convict him. At the time Monaghan said: 'It's been a nightmare. I'm glad to get this over. I've always said it was nothing to do with me.' Police spoke of their disgust at the shooting being carried out next to a busy nursery and two associates of the Daniel clan were charged. Both would be cleared of the attack at a trial but were later convicted for other organised crime offences. Monaghan, 43, is believed to have moved to Spain a couple of years after the school shooting, and is understood to have become involved in business interests in the Costa del Sol, including the pub on the beachfront bearing his name. It would be the location where, alongside decades-long friend Eddie Lyons jnr, he would meet a merciless end on Saturday night.

I cleared my local Asda of an £8 cleaning essential going for nearly 4x less – but trolls say I should ‘share' them
A BARGAIN hunter has come under fire after proudly showing off her mega haul of £2.50 cleaning essentials. Asda customer, Mandy Ward, was slammed after she cleared the shelves and filled the shopping trolley the boot to the brim with cut-price laundry products. 2 2 According to the thrifty shopper, the popular supermarket was running a deal which meant she only paid a mere £2.50 for the branded liquid detergent. The popular brand usually goes for an eye-watering £7.98 at the store, so Mandy managed to save nearly 4x the original price. In her post, the money-saving shopper explained she had spotted someone else raving about the epic deal on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group. All chuffed with the monster haul, she said: ''Thank you so much to the person who posted about the Persil bottles for £2.50. ''It was only the blue one.'' She confessed to leaving the store with no more stock, writing: ''I cleared my Asda out (Boston). Will share with friends and family and the local food bank. ''The price on the shelf was still showing as £7.98, I used the Asda Scan & Go App to check the price which came up as £2.50,'' said Mandy who had bagged more than a dozen liquid detergents. 'Wow! Why clear them out' But while Mandy vowed to donate some of the cleaning essentials to help struggling households, the mega haul sparked fury amongst Facebook users. Since being shared online, the post has racked up close to 300 likes in less than 24 hours, with a further 249 people flooding to comments - where it was a mixed bag of reactions. One wasn't so convinced by what Mandy claimed she'd do with the cut-price items. The household items you're not cleaning often enough IF you want to ensure your home is squeaky clean, you'll need to listen up. Below are the household items you're forgetting to clean, and how to get them sparkling... Remote Controls: Wipe with a disinfectant cloth. Use a cotton bud for crevices. Light Switches: Wipe with a disinfectant wipe. Use a mild soap solution for tough stains. Door Handles: Clean with an antibacterial spray. Wipe down regularly. Underneath and Behind Appliances: Vacuum or sweep regularly. Mop with a suitable cleaner. Shower Curtains and Liners: Wash in the washing machine. Use a bleach solution for stubborn mildew. Kitchen Sponges and Dishcloths: Microwave damp sponges for one minute. Wash dishcloths in the washing machine. Computer Keyboards and Mice: Use compressed air to remove debris. Wipe with a disinfectant wipe. Meanwhile, there were also a few of those who, too, made the most out of the offer, such as Tor Summers Powell. She said: Lol I bought 12 earlier left 5 on the shelf and no I'm not sharing.'' If you're keen to snap up the discounted detergent but your local Asda has been cleared out, one shopper revealed that a rival supermarket was running a similar deal. ''They do a 2 pack of these in home bargains around £5.69 so only 69p more.''
