The Chase fans rip into 'worst final they've ever seen' - but can YOU answer the questions that saw 'shocking' player eliminated in just 20 seconds?

Daily Maila day ago
The Chase viewers were left unimpressed after what many dubbed the 'worst final ever' aired on ITV, with one contestant eliminated in just 20 seconds.
The British quiz show, hosted by Bradley Walsh, 65, features four contestants who have to work as a team to answer general knowledge questions.
They must defeat the Chaser, a ruthless quiz genius, to win the cash prize, with the maximum amount that can be won for a single player being £100,000.
But during a recent instalment, Chaser Mark Labbett, also known as The Beast, 59, needed just five questions to knock out solo finalist Nicola.
Viewers were stunned as Nicola, the last contestant standing, was quickly dispatched in one of the show's shortest final chases ever - but could you have answered all five questions correctly?
Earlier in the episode, Nicola scraped through after a weak performance in the cash builder round, earning just £2,000 - compared to teammates Casey's £5,000 and Ian's £8,000.
However, both Casey and Ian were eliminated before the final round, leaving Nicola to face The Beast alone.
Despite her determination, Nicola only managed to answer four questions correctly in her two-minute final chase, earning a total of five points, including her one-point head start.
Before the round began, she admitted she had a 'feeling she'd be caught' - and she was right.
Mark got all five questions correct in just 20 seconds, ending the game with a whopping 1 minute and 40 seconds still on the clock.
Firstly, Bradley asked the star: 'What type of fashion accessory is a trilby?', Matt proceeded to answer the question correctly with 'hat' before they moved on to the second question.
Bradley then asked Mark: 'Eric 'Butterbean' Esch has 58 KOs in what sport?' to which he replied 'boxing'.
And for the third question, Mark was asked: 'Zodiac and Consul were brands by which carmaker?'
Mark quickly answered with 'Ford' before Bradley asked him the following question: 'James Collinson was a member of which artistic brotherhood?'
Viewers were stunned as Nicola, the last contestant standing, was quickly dispatched in one of the show's shortest final chases ever - but could you have answered all five questions correctly?
Whizzing through all the answers in just 15 seconds, Mark confidently confirmed the answer was Pre-Raphaelite.
Meanwhile, the final question which caught Nicola out was: 'Frosch' is the German word for what amphibian?'
With plenty of time on the clock remaining, Mark confidently answered the question with 'Frog'.
And just like that, Nicola was out - and viewers were left cringing, dubbing the episode as the show's 'worst final ever'.
Viewers took to social media to vent, with one writing: 'I actually feel dumber from watching that episode (face palm emoji).';
'That was the worst team I've ever seen.'; 'Never ever have I seen such a failure... 2k in the pot! ... Only 5 questions to be answered!';
Others echoed: 'Done in 20 seconds! Shocking.'; 'Shocking final chase.'

Bradley Walsh reveals The Chase 'ban' and says 'I'd be fired'

The Chase host Bradley Walsh has been presenting the ITV gameshow since it first aired in 2009 and appeared on BBC's The One Show ahead of the new series. Bradley Walsh has cautioned he'd be "fired" from The Chase if he implemented any major alterations. ‌ The cherished host, 65, has fronted the ITV quiz show since it launched in 2009, and is set to grace our screens again with a fresh series. ‌ Nevertheless, Bradley has assured viewers it won't differ from the usual format. ‌ Whilst appearing on The One Show tonight (Friday 15 August), Bradley faced questions about his hectic timetable. "You've got The Chase coming up, you've got Beat The Chasers as well, anything different we can expect from these series?" presenter Clara Amfo enquired, reports Bristol Live. Bradley promptly responded: "No they're the same, they're what you see on the tin. "I'm not allowed to do anything different, I think I'd get fired if I did anything different. "You've got to stick to the rules, and stick to the format." ‌ He continued: "You can have a laugh in between." This follows Bradley confessing he doesn't object to being perceived as "old and grumpy" whilst discussing his altered attitude towards the projects he accepts given his packed schedule. ‌ He revealed: "People say to me 'you never stop working', but here's the thing, and I tell every young performer this, 'if you enjoy the job you do, you will never do a day's work in your life'. "It's as simple as that. I try and have as much time as I possibly can off, but I just love what I do." The Gladiators host went on to tell My Weekly magazine: "As you know, the older you get, the more belligerent you get. I'm 65 now. "Do you know what age and experience brings? Freedom. Because you can say, 'Absolutely not. No, I'm not doing that. I don't want to go there'. "And people will just remark, 'He's just old and grumpy', well, that's fine by me." The Chase is available to watch on ITVX. The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer

Lewis Capaldi reveals Justin Bieber 'ghosted' him after pair enjoyed wild night out at star-studded bash

Lewis Capaldi has revealed Justin Bieber 'ghosted' him after they spent a wild night out together at a star-studded bash. The singer, 28, told Capital Breakfast's Chris Stark that despite the pair exchanging numbers on the night, Justin, 31, failed to respond to his message the morning after. He said: 'It was amazing, there was famous people, Charli xcx was there, Justin Bieber was there. 'Justin Bieber comes over and said "hey man, what's going on?" And I said, "you don't remember my name?" And he said, "of course I do, you're Lewis Capaldi". 'Me and Bieber had this super night together, like really lovely evening together. We didn't spend the night together, but we hung out and I'm like 'me and the Biebs are gonna be best pals, this is huge'. 'And he's like "man make sure I get your number tomorrow". And I was like "me and the Biebs, this is huge". 'I text him maybe the most sucking up his a*** text. I said, "Just wanted to jump on bro, last night was so special, great guy, so nice to hang out with you, such a dude", blah blah all this stuff. 'He likes it and doesn't reply. So if you're out there Bieber, wherever you are, text me back please. Bieber aired me.' Elsewhere in Lewis' first radio interview in two years, the hitmaker touched on his career hiatus. 'I've done a lot of growing up in the last year an a bit', he told Chris as they caught up over a pint of Guinness at London's The Devonshire. He said: 'Weirdly, I felt like the last two years I've had off, I was getting better but I was also kind of having my uni experience. Because I went and toured while everyone was at uni. 'There's times where I kicked the a*** out of it. Like going out and having nights in here and nights out in London, because I moved to London as well and I was getting to grips with that and stuff.' Lewis' comeback tour sold out in seconds last month, with disappointed fans furious at Ticketmaster for 'freezing as they reached the front of the queue '. The adored Scotsman is set to perform 17 dates across the UK and Ireland in September as he returns to the stage two years after taking a break for his mental health. 'He likes it and doesn't reply. So if you're out there Bieber, wherever you are, text me back please. Bieber aired me', Lewis added His dedicated fans had every single ticket in their baskets by one second past 9am, Lewis revealed, so the star added extra dates - but even those shows sold out in record time, with the tour being his 'fastest selling ever'. Heartbroken fans who failed to secure tickets have hit out at Ticketmaster for kicking them out of the queue or glitching when they tried to pay. Lewis took to Instagram to share the 'surreal feeling' of his tour selling out so quickly, thanking fans for their dedication and apologising to those left disappointed. In an emotional update, Lewis revealed he would not be adding any further dates 'for now' so as not to push himself too far following his return to the stage. Sharing that he was adding extra dates this morning, Lewis wrote: '1 second past 9am and you've got every single ticket in the baskets [mind blown emoji]. 'Genuinely blows my mind to be saying this but adding new dates rn that'll go on sale in a minute, will be on the same link so keep checking x.' Just one hour later, Lewis shared a post revealing that both the original and extra dates were sold out. 'Honestly didn't expect this at all…' Lewis wrote. 'Genuinely had no idea what to expect after taking a break for so long so be seeing this tour sell out faster than any tour I've ever played is the most incredible surreal feeling ❤️. Lewis took to Instagram last month to share the 'surreal feeling' of his tour selling out so quickly, thanking fans for their dedication and apologising to those left disappointed 'Thank you to every single one of you who got a ticket and i'm very sorry to any of you who wanted to come and missed out this time. 'There won't be any other shows for now, want to make sure I don't push myself too far too soon. Means more than ya know how many of you were waiting to get tickets this morning x.' Fans of the star who failed to secure tickets directed their fury at Ticketmaster on Thursday morning as they slammed the site for crashing. They wrote: 'I GIVE UP trying get Lewis Capaldi tickets now!! In the waiting room by 8.42am… at the front of the queue by 9.02am… message comes up saying that ones sold out but an extra date has been added so get into that queue at 25,000th, it crashes… Zero tickets for a THIRD DAY!'; 'Losing the ticketmaster war for lewis capaldi is quite humbling actually,'; 'Birmingham Lewis Capaldi tickets sold out in 6 seconds,'; 'Ticketmaster count ur days!! Sat like this for the Lewis Capaldi's Sunday date for ageeesss only had a few thousand infront of me! Joke'. A Ticketmaster spokesperson said: 'The site did not crash. We always advise to fans to make sure they only use one tab, clear their cookies, and do not use any VPN software on their device.' Lewis revealed he's no longer on antidepressants and is feeling the 'best he's felt in a long time' in a new health update last month. Heartbroken fans who failed to secure tickets have hit out at Ticketmaster for kicking them out of the queue or glitching when they tried to pay The Glaswegian singer made his return to music with an epic and emotional performance at Glastonbury. It came almost exactly two years after he broke down on the very same stage, prompting a hiatus during which Lewis was forced to focus on improving both his physical and mental health. But after taking some time away from the limelight and the 'pressures' of being a star, Capaldi says that he's now 'doing much better' and is no longer taking the antidepressant Sertraline. 'I'm not on antidepressants anymore,' Lewis - who marked his return with the new track Survive which has soared to Number 1 - told fans on a livestream. 'It was f*****g hard to get off it. You could say I survived getting off Sertraline but let's not get into that. This is happy stuff, I'm trying to share less.' He later added: 'I've felt the best I've felt in a long time through therapy. 'I think I will always be an anxious person, accepting that's always going to be there for me is a big thing. It's about how I respond to anxiety.'

Brooklyn Beckham distressed over claims wife Nicola Peltz 'hasn't backed down for months'

The star is said to be 'excruciated by everything' Brooklyn Beckham has spoken out to quash rumours that his wife Nicola Peltz is controlling him, as close pals reveal his distress over the negative portrayal of his spouse. The eldest child of David and Victoria Beckham is upset by claims that Nicola is unfairly targeted following reports that his family was not invited to their wedding vow renewal ceremony. ‌ An insider commented: "It's so rooted in misogyny that all of the heat for his parents not being invited is on Nicola. Everyone seems to forget that Brooklyn is an adult man and fully capable of speaking out. Nicola would have respected all that he chose. It breaks Brooklyn's heart to see his wife being painted as this vixen and viper." ‌ The 'Lola' star has faced allegations of cutting her husband off from both his relatives and mates. Observers have noted that at the August 2 event, which Nicola's father Nelson officiated, there appeared to be an absence of Brooklyn's extended family and British friends. ‌ While Brooklyn has not officially responded to the controversy, he recently made his feelings clear through social media actions. He liked an Instagram comment from a user who stood up for Nicola. The commenter had stated: "Why is it assumed that she made the decision to exclude them? ... If he really wanted his parents there, they would be." The Mirror has recently reported on the severe rift between David and Victoria Beckham and their daughter-in-law, which resulted in the couple only learning about the vow renewal through online news and photographs, reports the Mirror. Friends of Nicola and Brooklyn have revealed that his siblings Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, were also excluded from the event following what they describe as a string of online jibes. ‌ A source commented: "Brooklyn's brothers have been fanning the flames. They've openly made fun of and trolled Brooklyn in comments on social media." However, there are those who question the necessity of ostracising the entire family. Excluded from the August 2 festivities in the US were all the Beckhams - including little sister Harper, as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. An insider confided to the Mirror: "Why punish the whole family for what is essentially a fallout with just the mum and dad?" ‌ It was reportedly difficult to not invite Harper, 14, given her closeness to Brooklyn and the grandparents. A friend remarked: "They are trying to make the best decisions for them in what are very unfortunate circumstances. Navigating family stuff is hard and it's ugly." Despite the current estrangement, the couple maintains hope for mending ties. The same friend added: "The door is open. No one wants to see this kind of pain exist. There is always hope. At the end of the day, blood is thicker than water."
