Death in Paradise fans told to watch out for 'exhilarating' new crime series
Prime Video's new drama, which has been named the new Death in Paradise, is set to be added to the streaming platform in September
Prime Video viewers are in for a treat as a new crime drama, Hotel Costiera, is set to be added to the streaming platform soon.
Named the next big hit following Death In Paradise, this thrilling series promises to spice up your summer nights.

The show throws us into the world of Daniel De Luca, played by the charming Jesse Williams from Grey's Anatomy, who becomes an indispensable "fixer" at the lavish Hotel Costiera in Positano, only to be caught in a web of intrigue when a young girl is snatched.

Penned by the creative trio, Elena Bucaccio, Matthew Parkhill, and Francesco Arlanch, and filmed on location in Italy last year, viewers are buzzed with anticipation for its release on our screens soon.

The six part series follows the compelling narrative of half-Italian, ex-US marine Daniel De Luca, as he tackles his latest chapter amidst the opulence of one of the globe's finest hotels set against the breathtaking Positano coastline.

Mixing the high life with high stakes – very much echoing The White Lotus vibes – Daniel isn't just sorting out the troubles of the rich and famous; he's also entangled in the desperate search for Alice, a missing heiress.
Resolving this mystery may prove to be his toughest mission yet. In true Italian style, the series kicked off with a glamorous premiere in sunny Sicily's Taormina.
The Taormina Film Festival was the backdrop for a sneak peek of the first episode of Hotel Costiera, screened in an ancient Greek amphitheatre with Mount Etna looming in the distance.

Landing Jesse Williams, known for his role as Daniel "DD" De Luca, was a significant achievement, according to director Adam Bernstein: "It's an amazing opportunity for me to work with Jesse Williams on Costiera.
"I've always admired his work – both on stage and screen, and he's the first actor that came to my mind for the role of Daniel De Luca. Jesse provides a perfect combination of intelligence, charisma, and humour, and we're incredibly lucky to have him at the centre of our show."

Williams is joined by a stellar supporting cast of European actors in this sun-soaked production, including Maria Chiara Giannetta (Madly), Jordan Alexandra (Bridgerton, 3 Body Problem), Antonio Gerardi (This Is Not Hollywood), Sam Haygarth, Tommaso Ragno (Fargo, Luna Park), Amanda Campana, Pierpaolo Spollon, Alejandra Onieva (Alta Mar) and Jean-Hugues Anglade (Versailles).
Prime Video has confirmed that the full series, consisting of six episodes, will be available to watch from 24th September, so there's not long to wait.

BBC Death in Paradise star admits ‘I felt like a failure' after show left him ‘in limbo'

BBC Death in Paradise star admits 'I felt like a failure' after show left him 'in limbo' Ralf Little starred as DI Neville Parker in Death is Paradise, almost two decades after rising to stardom as Anthony Royle in classic sitcom the Royle Family Ralf Little says he was 'in limbo' after the Royle Family became a hit (Image: BBC / Red Planet / Denis Guyenon) BBC Death in Paradise star Ralf Little 'felt like a failure' after he took a series of bar jobs while his acting career was 'in limbo'. Ralf was cast as teenager Antony Royle in hit sitcom the Royle Family in 1998. ‌ While the role catapulted Ralf into the spotlight, he says it took a 'few months' before he adjusted to his newfound fame. During that time he says he would attend auditions and even took a number of other jobs with his then girlfriend. ‌ On The Two Pints Podcast with fellow Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star Will Mellor, Ralf admits he struggled with both bar jobs he took on after landing his breakout role. He made the revelation after Will asked if he had ever had a 'normal' job. ‌ Ralf, 45, replied: 'I had two normal jobs. I did one for two weeks and went f**k this, this is awful. When I was 18 we filmed the first Royle Family and it had come out, but there was a few months before the gears of reality sort of clicked into place where I was in limbo. 'Suddenly I had to be brought into auditions. I was alright, I'd saved some money and was going to be okay for a little while, but I had a girlfriend at the time. Ralf Little starred as DI Neville Parker (Image: BBC) Article continues below 'I was 18, she was 17, and she worked as a waitress at the local Brewer's Fayre and basically, for moral support, because I was bored during the day when she was at work, I said, 'I'll get a job at the Brewer's Fayre, I'll work behind the bar/wait' so I was a waiter for two weeks at the Brewer's Fayre and I hated it. Doing a real job sucks.' Ralph however says he quit the job after just three shifts. He went on to explain that his girlfriend then decided to take on a job at the home ground of Bolton Wanderers - then known as the Reebok Stadium - prompting Ralf to follow. He continued: 'I did two home games as a barman in the players' lounge at the Reebok Stadium. You'd have thought it was cool but I'll tell you this, Premier League players don't tip. ‌ 'I got one, occasionally I'd get, 'Round that up' and someone has paid 95p for a glass of Coke, so I'd get 5p. Very occasionally I'd get a fiver.' Ralf says he started to feel 'weird' working behind the bar when the Royle Family exploded in popularity. He explained: 'The Royle Family had come out at this point and it felt very awkward working behind that bar. Ralf rose to fame on the Royle Family (Image: (c) BBC 1998 photo by Matt Squires) ‌ 'Occasionally, very occasionally, I would get recognised. And this is that weird thing where people go, 'God why aren't you working anymore', from 18 years old I'm working behind the bar and I've come in and everyone is like, 'Oh this is the biggest show on TV, why are you working behind a bar?' 'I wasn't embarrassed to be doing an honest job but when people come and ask you in that tone of voice like, 'Why are you such a failure?' [That's what] It felt like.' Ralf starred in the Royle Family for 22 of the show's 25 episodes. In 2020 he was cast as DI Neville Parker in Death in Paradise, remaining on the show until 2024. Article continues below He will be back on screens on Saturday Kitchen from BBC One at 10am. He will be joining presenter Matt Tebbutt as well as chefs Sabrina Ghayour and Jack Stein.

'Binge-worthy' romantic drama tops Amazon Prime charts worldwide as fans 'can't get enough'

The Amazon Prime show has recently released its third season after winning an award for the 'Favourite Binge-worthy Show' in 2024. Amazon Prime Video users can not get enough of one coming of age romance drama which has taken the streaming platform by storm after its weekly episode release has seen it top Amazon Charts worldwide. Based on Jenny Han's popular book series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, which returned for its third season last month, is described as a story 'about first love, first heartbreak and the magic of that one perfect summer'. ‌ However, fans are being forced to patiently wait each Wednesday for a new episode with the sixth episode of series three being the latest to drop on Prime. Now more than halfway through the latest season which consists of 11 episodes, viewers are waiting in anticipation for the series finale which is set to air on September 17. ‌ Starring Lola Tung as Belly Conklin, Christopher Briney as Conrad Fisher and Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah, the show is about a love triangle between one girl and two brothers. The story unfolds at Cousins Beach where Belly and her mum have been going to vacation with family friend Susannah and her two sons, Jeremiah and Conrad for many summers. ‌ Isabel (Belly), has a long-standing crush on Conrad but the summer she turns sixteen, she finds herself going through a lot of changes, both physical and mental, and lands herself in a love triangle with the two handsome brothers. The show first premiered in 2022 with season 2 coming out in 2023 so fans have been waiting a good few years for the third season to be released. And it appears that viewers can not get enough of the new episodes. Taking to X to share their opinions on the show, one user dramatically confessed: "I think about The Summer I Turned Pretty way more religiously than I think about eating." ‌ Another echoed: "Obsessed with The Summer I Turned Pretty." A third gushed: "Ugh The Summer I Turned Pretty is such a cute show!!!!" Someone else added: "I'm caught up on The Summer I Turned Pretty. Hello??? I need the next episode NOW." ‌ The drama has divided the internet with many making comments about whether they are Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah. One person wrote: "I'm Team Jeremiah forever !!" While another disagreed: "On season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty and I was NEVER team Jeremiah. Screw that man, team Conrad forever!!" ‌ Someone else added:" I've always been Team Jeremiah but ever since season 3 started it feels so wrong i think i was missing something the whole time." Meanwhile, another user slammed them both as she said: "Team Jeremiah or Conrad? duh, I'm team Belly's getting a therapist." ‌ Despite the online raving about the show, it does only score a 73% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the drama did win a People's Choice Award for the public's 'Favourite Binge-worthy Show' in 2024. The show is expected to be coming to an end when the final episode of season three airs in September with there only being three books in the novel series.

Line of Duty fans — try this streaming service half the price of Netflix

Between Apple TV Plus' Slow Horses, Amazon Prime Video's The Assassin and Scottish-set Loch Ness recently storming up the Netflix chart, it's clear British crime thrillers remain a popular genre. But all those subscriptions can be a drain on your bank account. If you're a fan of British dramas and are on a budget, we might have found the perfect streaming service for you: Acorn TV. The platform specialises in the genre and is home to critically acclaimed dramas such as BBC hit Line of Duty, which has been described as 'the best police procedural show in TV history' by fans. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. There's also Ellis, a Channel 5 detective drama hailed as 'better than Vera'. It stars Sharon D. Clarke as the tenacious DCI Ellis, who is parachuted into towns across the north of England to help solve failing investigations. Viewers can also enjoy World War Two detective drama Foyle's War, Channel 5 police procedural Suspects and ITV's Safe House, starring Christopher Eccleston. With all that on offer and much more, Acorn TV has received glowing reviews. NPR dubbed the streaming service 'Netflix for the Anglophile', while The Hollywood Reporter called it 'glorious'. And at just £4.99 per month, or £49.99 annually, Acorn TV is less than half the price of a standard Netflix subscription, which costs £12.99 per month. Meanwhile, other big streaming services Prime Video, Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus are all priced at £8.99 per month as standard. That makes Acorn TV considerably cheaper. With many of the British dramas available on Acorn TV also streaming on the likes of BBC iPlayer, ITVX and Channel 5, you might wonder whether the lesser-known streamer is worth investing in. However, there are plenty more shows to discover that can't be found on other streaming services. These include Acorn Originals such as Dead Still, a drama set in Victorian Ireland that follows a renowned memorial photographer who becomes drawn into murder investigations. The series has an impressive 89% Rotten Tomatoes score, and one impressed Google reviewer called it 'refreshingly different,' praising the 'wonderful characters and compelling storyline'.
