Emmerdale Robert Sugden's return rumours and if actor Ryan Hawley is returning
Robert Sugden's Emmerdale return rumours have intensified following Wednesday's episode not being uploaded to ITVX.
But is Ryan Hawley returning to the soap as the character, and why would Robert be back? Reports emerged weeks ago that suggested a leaked storyline would see Robert head back to the show.
Rumours were that it would tie in to Robert's ex Aaron Dingle's wedding to John Sugden, the secret half-brother of Robert. The ITV soap did not confirm the reports at the time, and have still not confirmed or denied if a return is in the pipeline.
Nothing is known about it, and actor Ryan has yet to respond to the claims. So is Robert returning and is Ryan reprising the role after all, amid Wednesday's episode mystery?
Normally each morning the latest episode of the soap is dropped on ITVX, ahead of it airing that evening on ITV1 at 7:30PM. On Tuesday night it was announced this was not happening on Wednesday, sparking rumours Robert's return was imminent.
Of course there were further theories tied into Aidan Moore and killer John's other secrets, with many fans thinking there was another twist on the way. Given the episodes normally drop even when there's huge twists, fans wondered if there was more to its absence from the streaming platform.
So as it stands, the soap has not confirmed there will be a return for Robert and actor Ryan. We know nenow details about the comeback and what it means for the show, or when it may happen.
We don't even know for sure that it is planned, asides the fact it was leaked by a publication and Aaron actor Danny Miller dropped major hints following said leak. Not only did he appear to react online, but he also spoke on Loose Women and appeared to confirm it was happening.
Robert was sent to prison over Lee Posner's death in 2019, with Ryan leaving the role after five years. He's declined to return in the past, so news of a comeback, despite speculation, did shock fans.
A source told The Sun at the time that it was the "biggest secret in soapland", continuing: "Ryan has a lot of respect for the show and its fans and he really wanted to give them a treat so he agreed to come back for a brief stint. It's going to be a huge surprise for fans especially the Robron fans who have missed Robert desperately since Ryan quit."
They added that soap bosses went to great lengths to keep the secret by using fake names on scripts and smuggling him in and out of the studios. Fans had been speculating about a Robert return after a number of hints were dropped, with fans hoping Ryan would reprise the role.
The theory sharing led to a number of comments suggesting it was only a matter of time before Robert was back in the village. From his son being mentioned to a prison visit and the arrival of John, there's also been mentions of the character aplenty.
On Loose Women on Tuesday, Ryan's co-star Danny appeared to confirm his pal was heading back to the show. Panellist Denise Welch wasn't letting Danny go without speaking about the rumours, as she asked the actor: "Is there likely to be a RobRon rerun?"
A nervous Danny chuckled: "It's so weird, the line's just gone down as you've asked that question," as the whole studio burst into laughter. Although he wasn't giving too much away, Danny assured Emmerdale fans they can expect many surprises during the week.
Danny then seemingly confirmed he was now part of the plan as he continued: "But.." before stopping. He then continued: "You'll just have to wait and see. That's the idea of me being here. Otherwise it would be boring if I told you either way."

Bradley Walsh reveals The Chase 'ban' and says 'I'd be fired'
The Chase host Bradley Walsh has been presenting the ITV gameshow since it first aired in 2009 and appeared on BBC's The One Show ahead of the new series. Bradley Walsh has cautioned he'd be "fired" from The Chase if he implemented any major alterations. The cherished host, 65, has fronted the ITV quiz show since it launched in 2009, and is set to grace our screens again with a fresh series. Nevertheless, Bradley has assured viewers it won't differ from the usual format. Whilst appearing on The One Show tonight (Friday 15 August), Bradley faced questions about his hectic timetable. "You've got The Chase coming up, you've got Beat The Chasers as well, anything different we can expect from these series?" presenter Clara Amfo enquired, reports Bristol Live. Bradley promptly responded: "No they're the same, they're what you see on the tin. "I'm not allowed to do anything different, I think I'd get fired if I did anything different. "You've got to stick to the rules, and stick to the format." He continued: "You can have a laugh in between." This follows Bradley confessing he doesn't object to being perceived as "old and grumpy" whilst discussing his altered attitude towards the projects he accepts given his packed schedule. He revealed: "People say to me 'you never stop working', but here's the thing, and I tell every young performer this, 'if you enjoy the job you do, you will never do a day's work in your life'. "It's as simple as that. I try and have as much time as I possibly can off, but I just love what I do." The Gladiators host went on to tell My Weekly magazine: "As you know, the older you get, the more belligerent you get. I'm 65 now. "Do you know what age and experience brings? Freedom. Because you can say, 'Absolutely not. No, I'm not doing that. I don't want to go there'. "And people will just remark, 'He's just old and grumpy', well, that's fine by me." The Chase is available to watch on ITVX. The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer

Ross demands the truth about the baby in Emmerdale as Charity fights back
In last night's episode of Emmerdale, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) discovered that she's pregnant. It was a happy development Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), as it meant the recent embryo transfer had worked, and Charity was now going to carry their baby for them. The couple remained unaware of Ross Barton's (Michael Parr) reaction when he walked in the pub. A while later, we discovered why he had reason to be shocked at the news. A flashback scene confirmed what happened after a drunk Charity left Vanessa Woodfield's (Michelle Hardwick) house last week. She threw her ex out, and said their kiss was a sign Charity was just being self destructive. Stumbling through the street, Charity found Ross, who was also dealing with relationship woes. The two residents had sex and now Charity is pregnant, and Ross knows that means there's a chance the baby could be his. Back in present day, Charity denied Ross' claims and said there was no chance, as the sex they had was completely meaningless. It was still sex though, but who are we to judge. In complete denial, Charity headed back into the pub and listened as Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) gave a speech and the family celebrated. In tonight's episode, Charity was confronted by Ross again. He still wanted answers, and pointed out that Charity doesn't actually know the complete truth. Charity claimed that she hadn't long been back from the hospital, with a scan confirming the size of the baby and therefore, proof it had formed before she slept with Ross. But he didn't believe her. 'I think he's desperate to find out the answer because it comes with such responsibility, having another child, it's a lot of pressure on him because he's not doing so well with work right now and his living situation isn't ideal as he's always swapping and changing', Michael Parr explained. 'Plus he's just met his brother Lewis. There's a lot going on for him in his head, so he just needs to get to the bottom of this. So he can get a good night's sleep.' A DNA test needs to be conducted to confirm the truth – but will Charity go ahead with it? She was seen researching tests later that day, but what if the test confirms Ross is the father? Will she lie to Sarah, Jacob and Mackenzie? 'There are so many emotions going on which again, puts more of a spotlight onto Charity's awful secret and dilemma', Emma Atkins said. 'The situation was awful to begin with as it began with poor Sarah's position. It's so sad for Sarah as her situation is awful. She so wanted a child but can't physically have one. And in real life there are poor girls in that situation with cervical cancer or who have had to have a hysterectomy. 'So Charity had good intentions initially to help Sarah in her plight to have a child but now it's clashing with the awful situation she's in. The fact Mack is now so upset as he and Charity lost a baby and it was Mack's dream was to have a child with Charity but Charity told him way back when that it wasn't going to happen. She added: 'She wasn't going to go down that route again. But now she has but for someone else. He's rightfully hurt by this although wanting to support her.' 'There are just so many layers to this story. So Charity had thought she had closed the door on having another child and that prospect killed Mackenzie in many ways – she was aware of that so Charity now holds all that guilt. Of how he is feeling. More Trending 'And now this new situation so this all comes back up to haunt her and it's just a sort of whirlpool of awfulness. And what will she do?'. Just how will the next few weeks play out? With rumours circulating that Charity's partner Mackenzie is going to get killed by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) soon, will he find out Charity's secret about Ross before this happens? It first showed various shops, with stop signs on display in the window. The key focus was "Sign World", which had a single stop sign and an arrow pointing to it. Joe initially guessed "Stop sign" and "Only a stop sign", as the clock ticked away. With only four seconds left, the actor correctly answered "One stop shop." It meant Joe scooped £50,000 for his charity - as well as £6,700 he won in earlier rounds. Host Stephen Mulhern said: "Do you know what, that is incredible. Wow, I have never seen it done like that." Joe then revealed he couldn't wait to share the good news with his charity. It turned out to be correct as Nicole Kidman, Frances McDormand and Kate Winslet are among the stars who have won the Best Actress gong since 2000. - Earlier this year, fans were left outraged after what they described as the "worst" question in the show's history. The 1% Club - Viewers of Lee Mack's popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The query went as follows: "Edna's birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen's birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir's birthday must be the 'X' of January." It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir's birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence. - Viewers of Lee Mack's popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The Chase - The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: "Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?" The options were - sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots - with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes. Long-time soap fans will remember Joe as EastEnders' Matthew Rose from 1997 to 2000. The character feuded with Steve Owen (Martin Kemp) - who memorably framed him for murder. Elsewhere, Joe recently shared a difference between working on the two soaps. Celebrity Catchphrase airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
