Tracy Morgan to star in new NBC comedy pilot
The series, which is in development, comes from 30 Rock veterans Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, and Sam Means. Carlock and Means are writing the pilot, with Rhys Thomas directing and serving as an executive producer. The project is produced by Universal Television, Little Stranger, Bevel Gears, and 3 Arts. No other cast members have been announced at this time.
Should the pilot be picked up, the show will air on NBC. Morgan's involvement in the project comes shortly after his announcement to star in the Paramount+ spinoff of CBS' The Neighborhood, titled Crutch. In this series, Morgan will play the cousin of Cedric the Entertainer's character, Calvin Butler. His deal allows him to star in both shows simultaneously.
Morgan is best known for his role as Tracy Jordan on 30 Rock, which aired from 2006 to 2013. He earned an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of the unpredictable star of the fictional NBC sketch comedy show 'TGS.' Before his 30 Rock fame, Morgan spent seven years on Saturday Night Live, creating memorable characters like Astronaut Jones and Brian Fellows. Morgan's other credits include The Last OG, Crank Yankers, and stand-up specials such as Takin' It Too Far and Bona Fide.
