Premiere Date, Cast & More: What We Know About 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'

Hype Malaysiaa day ago

In 2006, the movie based on the novel of the same name, 'The Devil Wears Prada', premiered to the world and quickly became a success. The movie is a global phenomenon, making a lasting impact on pop culture. Twenty years later, the much-loved cult classic has confirmed its long-awaited sequel.
In July 2024, there were reports that Walt Disney Studios was in the early stages of developing a sequel to 'The Devil Wears Prada'. A year later, the puzzle cheered over the good news that the movie is in the works! As fans prepare for the return of Miranda, Andy and more, here's what we've gathered about the sequel so far:
The Movie Is Set To Premiere In May 2026
One recent update about the movie is that it's coming sooner than expected. After months of speculation, Disney confirmed that they have set the theatrical release date for the sequel for 1st May 2026. However, this date is for the US release, so international fans still have to wait to find out when (or if) the movie will be released in their respective countries.
The Main Cast Reportedly Reprising Their Roles
Of course, the movie wouldn't be complete without the iconic cast line-up. While nothing is confirmed, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt will reportedly reprise their roles as Miranda Priestly, Andy Sachs and Emily Charlton. As for Stanley Tucci, there's still no news on whether he'll be back as Nigel Kipling, but fans are hopeful he'll also join the sequel.
Fun fact: This could be Meryl's second time in a sequel, in all over her decades-long career. Notorious for never doing sequels, she had only reprised her role in 'Mamma Mia 2'.
The Movie Might See Miranda Facing Off Against Emily
While the book does have a sequel called 'Revenge Wears Prada', the movie version of the sequel won't be based on this new chapter. Instead, the upcoming movie reportedly follows Miranda as she navigates the challenges of the declining print publishing industry. Rumour has it that she will face off against Emily, who is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group that Miranda is eyeing for their advertising dollars.
David Frankel Could Return To The Director's Chair
The original 'The Devil Wears Prada' wouldn't have been a reality without the director, screenplay writer and producers. The great news is that writer Aline Brosh McKenna and producer Wendy Finerman will maintain their positions. Meanwhile, director David Frankel is in talks to helm the project again, but only time will tell if he's back in the director's chair.

Kevin Costner sued by stunt performer over unscripted rape scene

FILE - Kevin Costner arrives at the 15th Governors Awards on Nov. 17, 2024, at The Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles. (Photo by Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP, File) Kevin Costner was sued Tuesday by Ella Hunt's stunt double for allegedly forcing her to act in an unscripted and violent rape scene in the unreleased second part of his 'Horizon' saga. Devyn LaBella is seeking a jury trial as she accuses 70-year-old Costner — who starred in, directed and co-wrote Horizon: An American Saga — of sexual discrimination, hostile work environment, sexual harassment, failure to remedy/prevent discrimination and harassment, retaliation, interference with the exercise of civil rights, intentional infliction of distress and breach of contract, according to the complaint obtained by Variety . LaBella, 34, claims in her suit that, on May 2, 2023, she 'was the victim of a violent unscripted, unscheduled rape scene,' directed by the Yellowstone star. LaBella says she suffered 'permanent trauma' and that her career came 'to an abrupt halt.' 'For the first several weeks, Ms LaBella professionally performed her stunts without incident. However, this experience changed dramatically. Due to its very physical nature, Defendants informed Ms LaBella she would be doubling for the majority of a scripted, aggressive and intimate rape scene between Ms Hunt's character 'Juliette' and 'Sig,' played by Douglas Smith,' reads the complaint. On May 2, a day after the scene in question went off with protocols in place, Costner allegedly 'asked Ms. LaBella to 'stand in' for Ms Hunt to 'line up [a] shot'' in the rape scene that was added impromptu, in violation of SAG-AFTRA protocol, and featuring the character Birke, played by '6'2″, 220lbs.' Roger Ivens. Though it 'was not within the scope of her role as a stunt double,' LaBella 'agreed to help,' though she was allegedly unaware Hunt 'walked off the set, refusing to do the scene.' Though LaBella's intimacy scenes required an intimacy coordinator's presence — as an extension of Hunt's own contract — the complaint states that, 'Crucially, no arrangements were made for Ms Chaney or any other intimacy coordinator to be present during filming' of the new shots. The complaint says Costner was present throughout the filming of the scene and 'very 'hands on" and was either involved in or fully aware of every single thing going on. 'Without proper notice, consent, preparation, or appropriate safeguard measures in place, such as the project's intimacy coordinator being called in, Defendant Costner directed Mr Ivens to repeatedly perform a violent simulated rape on Ms LaBella,' the lawsuit alleges. 'There was no escaping the situation, and all Ms LaBella could do was wait for the nightmare to end. … She experienced shock, embarrassment and humiliation while attempting to process the situation.' After alleging sexual harassment on set, LaBella was not hired to return for the third instalment of the film series, which started filming in early 2024, per the complaint. She says that though she was previously regularly hired for the stunt coordinator's projects, he has not brought her on to anything since. LaBella says she filed complaints with the California Civil Rights Division in February 2024 and again in November. The pre- and post-Civil War epic, Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1, hit theatres in June. After dismal box office numbers, the second installment — planned for August 2024 — was pulled from theatrical slates. The third and fourth chapters have not yet been scheduled. The Daily News has reached out to a representative for Costner for additional comment. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service

Streaming Giants Hit by Credential Theft Surge

A new report from cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has revealed that over 7 million streaming service accounts were compromised in 2024. Affected platforms include major names such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Max. The findings point to a growing risk for Gen Z users, who not only use these platforms for entertainment but also treat them as social and cultural touchpoints. According to Kaspersky's Digital Footprint Intelligence team, the compromised credentials were not stolen directly from the streaming services but were harvested through broader malware campaigns targeting infected devices. These threats typically stem from unofficial downloads, pirated content, browser extensions, or compromised apps that covertly gather login details, session data, and other personal information. In 2024 alone, Kaspersky identified 7,035,236 leaked credentials linked to major streaming platforms. Netflix was the most affected, with 5.6 million compromised accounts, primarily in Brazil, Mexico, and India. Disney+ saw over 680,000 exposed accounts, especially in Brazil, Mexico, and Germany. Amazon Prime Video was less impacted but still recorded 1,607 compromised accounts, mostly in Mexico, Brazil, and France. Once malware infects a device, the threat extends beyond streaming platforms. Attackers can extract cookies, login credentials, and even banking details, which are then sold or leaked on underground forums. In some cases, cybercriminals distribute stolen data freely to build credibility. Reusing the same password across multiple services can lead to widespread digital intrusion, identity theft, and financial fraud. To address these risks, Kaspersky has launched 'Case 404' — an interactive game designed to educate Gen Z users on cybersecurity. Players take on the role of AI-powered detectives, solving realistic online crime scenarios. Upon completion, users receive a discount on Kaspersky Premium, turning education into actionable protection. Polina Tretyak, Digital Footprint Analyst at Kaspersky, explains that Gen Z's emotional connection to streaming can create security blind spots. Malware hidden in unofficial downloads or third-party tools can silently collect and expose personal data. Protecting streaming accounts today requires more than strong passwords — it also means securing devices, avoiding suspicious downloads, and being vigilant about online behaviour. To help users stay safe, Kaspersky recommends using legitimate, paid streaming services, downloading apps only from official sources, and avoiding suspicious file types such as .exe or .msi. It's also critical to verify website authenticity before entering any personal information and to regularly update passwords for compromised accounts. Combined with security solutions like Kaspersky Premium and Kaspersky VPN, these practices can help protect personal data and reduce the risk of credential theft in an increasingly connected digital landscape.
