VIJAYAWADA: Unveiling the party's roadmap to reach out to the masses, HRD, IT minister and
TDP
national general secretary, Nara Lokesh, has called upon the party leaders to be among the people for the next month to explain the government's achievements in the last year.
He urged the party legislators not to ignore the party activists as they laid the foundation for the party's super success in the last elections.
He said that the party is relentlessly working to achieve better coordination between the veteran and young leaders, and the legislators should take the message to the ground level.
Addressing the party conclave at the party office on Sunday,
Lokesh
said that the people blessed them with an unexpected 94% of the seats in the 2024 elections, chiefly due to the arrogance and working style of the previous regime.
He said that the YSRCP government filed false cases against all the leaders present here during the past five years. 'There was a time when, every Saturday, we didn't know whose wall they would demolish, whose house they would destroy, or who they would send to jail.
The same police who saluted us today filed cases and harassed us when we were in the opposition. Such measures did not help them win the elections. In fact, the arrogance led them to dust,' said Lokesh.

He cautioned the party leaders to be very careful as they are in power. He asked them to shun arrogance to win the election again. He said that they should keep working to resolve the people's issues to win their hearts. He said that he came to know about the tobacco growers' issue when he visited party leader Veeraiah Chowdary's family in Ongole, and he immediately discussed the issue with the agriculture minister, Atchannaidu and the chief minister.
He said that a proactive approach is required from the ministers to legislators to handle the people's grievances. He said that he had been tirelessly working to bring investments to the state, and legislators need more emphasis on the development of their own constituencies. He said that the government is working to fulfil every possible manner and in a strategic manner. "Despite financial challenges, we have implemented the 'Talli ki Vandanam' and enhanced welfare pensions for the elderly people.
Salaries of employees are being paid on the first of every month. We have started Anna Canteens. We are not saying we have done everything. We must go to the people and explain the development and welfare achievements of the coalition government. We are working with the goal of systematically fulfilling every promise," Lokesh said.
He said that they would make women major stakeholders in the party system. He asked the legislators to consult with local leadership before the constitution of committees. He asked the leaders to complete the formation of all the committees by July 5. He said that feedback from the people should be recorded in the My TDP app during the door-to-door campaign.

Benchmark military spending at 3% of GDP, create non-lapsable modernisation fund: EY report

India should consider benchmarking military spending at 3 per cent of GDP, creating a non-lapsable defence modernisation fund , besides incentivising domestic manufacturing , an EY report said on Monday. The June edition of EY Economy Watch highlighted the need for a forward-looking defence budgeting strategy, saying this would build a more resilient and responsive defence infrastructure, and make India better equipped to address evolving geopolitical and technological challenges. "Over the years, India's military expenditure as a share of GDP has gradually declined - from close to 3 per cent in the early 2000s to just over 2 per cent today, whereas countries like the US and Russia continue to allocate significantly higher proportions," it said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Remember Him? Going forward, there is a need to enhance the capital component of the defence budget , streamline procurement processes, and emphasise defence-related research and development. Live Events EY India Chief Policy Advisor, D K Srivastava , said, "Benchmarking defence spending at 3 per cent of GDP and operationalising a dedicated non-lapsable modernisation fund can provide the fiscal predictability required for investing in advanced technology, strengthening domestic defence manufacturing ecosystems, and driving innovation-led procurement." The 15th Finance Commission had proposed the creation of a Modernisation Fund for Defence and Internal Security (MFDIS), a non-lapsable corpus under the Public Account of India, to be financed through disinvestment proceeds, monetisation of surplus defence land, and voluntary contributions. "Although accepted in principle by the government, this fund is yet to be implemented. Reviving the proposal could provide consistent capital support, insulating critical defence investments from year-to-year fluctuations," the EY Economy Watch report said.

Attempts to impose Hindi over Marathi won't be tolerated: Raj Thackeray

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Monday said while Hindi may be spoken widely, it is not a national language to be imposed on other states, and attempts to place it above Marathi , which is an older language, will not be tolerated. The MNS and Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) have been at the forefront in opposing the "imposition of Hindi" as a third language for primary classes in schools. The state government, in the face of mounting opposition to the introduction of Hindi for Classes 1 to 5 in schools, has withdrawn two government orders on the implementation of the three-language policy. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Access all TV channels anywhere, anytime Techno Mag Learn More Undo Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the formation of a committee headed by educationist Narendra Jadhav to suggest the way forward on the language policy. Talking to reporters, Thackeray said, "People are trying to make the 150 to 200-year-old Hindi language appear superior to Marathi, which has a history of over 3,000 years. This is unacceptable, and I will not allow it." Live Events He questioned the legitimacy of branding Hindi as a national language in a country with such linguistic diversity. "Hindi is not the rashtra bhasha (national language) to be imposed on other states. This kind of coercion is not right," the MNS chief said. The Fadnavis government issued a GR on April 16, making Hindi a compulsory third language for students in classes 1 to 5 studying in English and Marathi medium schools. Amid backlash, the government issued an amended GR on June 17, making Hindi an optional language.
