EVs to get toll waivers, subsidies approved under Maharashtra's new EV Policy.
The Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday cleared the Electric Vehicle Policy 2025. The policy introduces subsidies on EV purchases and toll exemptions for select electric vehicles using major highways in the state. The new policy will remain in effect till 2030 and comes with a financial commitment of Rs 1,993 crore.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who chaired the cabinet meeting, said the policy is part of a long-term vision to encourage wider adoption of EVs and ramp up local manufacturing. As part of the initiative, passenger EVs will be eligible for government subsidies, while charging infrastructure will also receive a significant upgrade. One of the key highlights includes setting up charging stations every 25 kilometres along national highways in Maharashtra to ease range anxiety and support long-distance EV travel.

The state government is also implementing the
Clean Mobility Transition Model
under this policy, offering purchase incentives till 2030. Buyers of electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, private four-wheelers, and buses operated by both the state transport department and civic bodies will receive a 10% concession on the vehicle's original cost. For electric cargo vehicles, including three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and tractors, the subsidy goes up to 15%.

In addition to monetary concessions, the state is also waiving registration fees for EVs. Commuters driving four-wheeler EVs and electric buses on key corridors like the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Samruddhi Mahamarg, and Atal Setu will enjoy toll-free access. On other state and national highways, these vehicles will be charged only 50% of the regular toll.

'Maggi crisis was one of the greatest challenges of career'
NEW DELHI: The Maggi crisis, which unfolded in June 2015 and led to a nationwide ban of the popular instant noodles, was "one of the greatest challenges" of my career, said Suresh Narayanan , chairman and MD of Nestle India, said in his final letter to shareholders before his retirement on July 31. Narayanan, who took over as the company's CMD in 2015, is recognised for rejuvenating the company's flagship brand Maggi, after the FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) raised concerns about high levels of lead and monosodium glutamate in the product, leading to a temporary ban and significant backlash for the brand. Maggi noodles went from market leadership to near extinction and recovered 60% of its market share within months of its relaunch, he added. In his letter, Narayanan highlighted the decade's achievements, noting that Nestle India's capex increased from 1.8% of sales in 2015 to 10% in 24-25. "This not only demonstrates the focus on Indian consumers, but also our commitment to manufacture in India and 'Make in India' as a theme,'' he said. The company achieved a CAGR of over 10% in revenue and 21% in net profit over 2015-2025. Its revenue in FY24-25 stood at Rs 20,100 crore and net profit at Rs 3,300 crore. "In 2015, many considered us to be solely a Maggi noodles company. Since then we recalibrated and rejuvenated the portfolio launching over 150+ new products that have contributed to 7% of sales,'' Narayanan said. Flat delayed, builder told to pay buyer 11% interest in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (HRera) has directed the builder of a highrise condominium — an affordable group housing project in Sector 109 — to pay the delay-possession interest and hand over the apartment to the complainant as per the terms of the buyer's agreement. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The unit number 908 of Tower 3 at Expressway Towers 109 was purchased for Rs 26.26 lakh nine years ago. The builder assured timely possession of the flat, with a carpet area of 644 sqft and a balcony area of 100 sqft, but failed to deliver within the stipulated four-year period from the date of allotment — May 19, 2017. HRera (Gurgaon) ordered the realtor to pay interest at 11.10% per annum on the amount paid by the complainant from May 30, 2022 until the valid offer of possession or two months post-occupation certificate — whichever is earlier. The builder has been given 90 days to clear all arrears of interest and must continue paying interest monthly until possession is offered. Additionally, the builder must provide an updated statement of account within 30 days, reflecting adjusted dues after interest. The complainant approached HRera alleging an inordinate delay in the delivery of the unit, which had been booked in 2016. An initial payment of Rs 1.28 lakh was made on Jan 17, 2016 and a total of Rs 13.65 lakh was paid by May 2018. Despite demands raised by the promoter in July 2021 for outstanding dues, the project remained incomplete. The complainant sought immediate possession after adjusting pending dues against delay compensation. After hearing the matter, HRera held the promoter in contravention of Section 11(4)(a) of the RERA Act and passed directions under Section 37. Upon receipt of the updated statement of account, the complainant must clear any outstanding dues within 60 days. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The builder has also been instructed to hand over the flat and execute the conveyance deed within three months of obtaining the occupation certificate, subject to stamp duty and registration charges. The authority clarified that the promoter cannot charge labour cess or work contract tax and must provide VAT calculation proofs if applicable. Maintenance charges may only be levied as per actual consumption, the order said. In Aug last year, HRera conducted a meeting on the stalled OSB Expressway Towers project in Sector 109 with homebuyers and the builder and issued a final warning, saying that if the project was not completed within six months, the regulator would invoke Section 8 of the Rera Act. This would transfer control to the buyers' association and potentially involve a third-party builder. The project, launched in 2017, faced significant delays, and despite repeated warnings, the builder failed to deliver possession of the flats. In response to HRera chairperson Arun Kumar's warning, the builder had assured completion of the project within the timeframe. However, he faces challenges arising out of licence suspension of three of his other projects due to default in payment and non-compliance with department of town and country planning orders.
