Not Fahadh Faasil, this actor was the first choice to play Bhanwar Singh Shekawat in Allu Arjun's Pushpa
Sukumar took five years to make the Pushpa films—Pushpa: The Rise (2021) and Pushpa 2: The Rule (2025). The characters played by Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil are so deeply embedded that it's hard to imagine anyone else in their place now. However, in an interview with M9 News, Nara Rohith claimed that he was the first choice for the role of Bhanwar Singh Shekawat. (Also Read: Alia Bhatt would love to work with Fahadh Faasil after Roshan Mathew: 'He was unreal in Aavesham')
When asked if it's true that he was approached for Fahadh's role in Pushpa, Rohith confirmed it and said, 'I posted some pictures with a moustache during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ravi (Shankar) garu spoke to me first, as did Sukumar garu. Then the span of the film changed, and they wanted Fahadh. But initially, they did speak to me.'
Rohith reveals that while he was interested in the role, he doesn't know if he could've played Bhanwar as well as Fahadh did. He said, 'I don't know if I could've played the character like he did. Maybe, if I were on that set, I could've vibed and done it. But after seeing Fahadh, I was like, okay. That was terrific, actually.'
In the Pushpa films, Bhanwar plays Arjun's titular character's arch nemesis, a police officer who is casteist and wants to bring down the red sanders smuggling ring at any cost. Fahadh himself, though, didn't seem that impressed by the role when he told Film Companion in 2024, 'I don't think Pushpa did anything for me. I told Sukumar Sir that. I don't have to hide it. I have to be honest.'
Rohith took a break from acting after the 2018 film Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu. The film tanked at the box office and was a massive failure. In 2024, he made a comeback with Prathinidhi 2. The same year, he got engaged to his co-star from the film, Siree Lella. He will soon star in Sundarakanda and Bhairavam.

Dia Mirza Reveals She, Her Son Nearly Died During Childbirth: 'Pulled Intestine Out And...'
Last Updated: Dia developed a life-threatening bacterial infection, and as such, had to give birth to her son prematurely. Dia Mirza gave birth to her son, Avyaan Azaad Rekhi, when she was 39 years old. She revealed in a recent interview that she nearly lost her life when she was pregnant. Dia developed a life-threatening bacterial infection, and as such, had to give birth to her son prematurely. Avyaan also had to undergo life-saving surgery, and Dia wasn't allowed to hold him as he was delicate. Dia Mirza told Official People Of India, 'I developed an acute bacterial infection, which could have been a side effect of my appendix surgery that I underwent during the fifth month of my pregnancy. By the end of my sixth month, we realised that my placenta was haemorrhaging and my body was going into sepsis. If the baby wasn't delivered, neither of us could be saved. It was quite scary." When the actress was rushed to the hospital, she asked her doctor to save only her baby. However, her gynaecologist asked her to trust him. As Avyaan was born, he was taken to the ICU as he weighed just 810 grams. Meanwhile, Dia was on IV antibiotics. She added, 'They discovered 48 hours later that the bacteria in me were life-threatening. Avyaan had to go through life-saving surgery 36 hours after he was born. My son had a hole in his intestine and underwent surgery. They put a stoma on him — they basically pulled the intestine out of the body, and it was an exposed stoma." 'I was allowed to visit him only twice a week; I could not hold him until he weighed 2.5 kg. I brought him home for exactly 20 days, and no nurse was willing to touch him because it was a really terrifying visual. So I handled the dressing. After he became 3.5 kg, he underwent another surgery that lasted 3–4 hours, and the stoma was corrected," the actress added. Dia Mirza, the renowned Bollywood actress and environmental activist, has journeyed through love, motherhood, and personal growth over the past decade. In October 2014, Dia married her long-time partner and business associate, Sahil Sangha, in a peaceful Arya Samaj ceremony at his farmhouse in Chhatarpur, Delhi. However, in August 2019, after five years of marriage, the couple announced their separation. In February 2021, Dia found love again with businessman Vaibhav Rekhi. Their wedding was a private event in Mumbai, featuring a unique Vedic ceremony conducted by a female priest, a gesture that aligned with Dia's values of inclusivity and empowerment. The couple had met during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, and their relationship blossomed from there. In May 2021, Dia announced the birth of their son, Avyaan Azaad Rekhi, who was born prematurely in May. He spent two months in the NICU before being discharged. Dia described the experience as humbling and joyful, highlighting the challenges and gratitude she felt during this time. First Published: June 02, 2025, 18:29 IST

Box Office: Michael B. Jordan's Sinners soars past USD 350M globally, on track to surpass Hannibal as one of the highest-grossing horror films of all time
Michael B. Jordan's gothic musical horror Sinners continues its phenomenal box office run, officially crossing the USD 350 million global mark and setting its sights on dethroning Hannibal soon. The latter film peaked at USD 351.7 million and currently stands as the 12th highest-grossing horror film of all time. Sinners collected USD 83 million from international markets after seven weekends, lifting its global earnings to USD 351.1 million. The Ryan Coogler- directed period horror film has also made a substantial domestic impact, amassing USD 267.1 million in the US alone. With a production budget of USD 90 million excluding marketing, Sinners is not only a critical darling but also a commercial one, with eyes set on a final worldwide total in the range of USD 370-400 million. By Tuesday, Sinners is projected to surpass both Alien: Romulus (USD 350.9M) and Hannibal, officially cementing its place as the 12th highest-grossing horror film in history. It will also become the second-highest-grossing horror release in the post-COVID era globally, trailing only behind Scream VI. Set in the 1932 Mississippi Delta, Sinners stars Jordan in a dual role as criminal twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who return to their hometown seeking a new start in life, only to be confronted by a sinister supernatural force. The film features a strong ensemble cast including Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, Delroy Lindo, and newcomer Miles Caton. Coogler, known for Black Panther and Creed, began developing Sinners through his production company Proximity Media in early 2024. Following a competitive bidding war, Warner Bros. Pictures secured the distribution rights. Principal photography took place between April and July 2024, with longtime Coogler collaborator Ludwig Göransson handling the musical aspect of the film with his haunting score. Göransson also acted as an executive producer. Sinners debuted theatrically across the globe on April 18 and has since become one of this year's standout entertainment pieces. Its critical acclaim, period setting, and genre-blending appeal have helped it transcend horror audiences and become a behemoth success. With momentum still on its side despite its impending June 3 digital debut, Sinners is poised to continue making record books for modern horror cinema.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, the actor said, 'There's no formula anymore, like first do action then a rom-com. It's just about choosing interesting scripts and trusting in the writing and the maker and seeing how it goes from there. It's difficult in a way where you can't predict anything. But as an artist, that gives me the freedom that I'm just going to pick things that I believe in. I think my generation of actors will be like the herald of this change and I'm excited about it. I'm excited to see what my peers do and what kind of scripts come to me. Hopefully, there is a change for the better." After winning hearts with his performance alongside Alia Bhatt in Jigra, Vedang Raina is now getting ready for his next big project.
