Janhvi Kapoor, who is currently making headlines with her presence at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, recently opened up about an emotional connection she shares with the city. In a conversation with Vogue, the actress revealed that Cannes was one of her late mother Sridevi's most favourite destinations and how much she is missing her.
In a video shared by Vogue India, Janhvi shared, 'This place was actually mom's favourite place to come to for holidays. And we spent three or four consecutive summers here. It was like a big thing with us as a family. Every time mom would do something, every time she was getting an award or her movie was… I remember English Vinglish… I think it premiered at the Toronto Film Festival or Dad was shooting somewhere… All of these big life moments, we'd always be together as a family and experience together and celebrate together." Sridevi passed away in 2018.
Jahnvi shared that her Boney Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor are here at the festival to cheer for her. 'We're finally back in Cannes. Dad and Khushi are with me. I don't know… I guess it's weird coming back here without her and especially because she is always taken me for all of her big moments. I mean, obviously, I miss her a lot," she said.

A separate video taken at a hotel lobby before the red carpet showed Ishaan and Neeraj holding Janhvi's hand as she carefully descended the stairs.
Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound features Janhvi, Ishaan, and Vishal in leading roles. The film will premiere in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. The project has also drawn international attention thanks to the involvement of Martin Scorsese as its executive producer.
