‘Want Exciting Work Across Mediums': Karan Veer Mehra On Goals After Bigg Boss Win

Mehra will travel to Vietnam for the second schedule for Omung Kumar's Silaa.
Bigg Boss 18 and Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 winner Karan Veer Mehra is currently busy shooting for Omung Kumar's Silaa. In this upcoming romantic action thriller, the actor will be seen playing the role of the antagonist. Mehra recently shared that he wants to do exciting work across mediums but is currently focusing on his acting career.
Mehra will travel to Vietnam for the second schedule of the film, which also stars Harshvardhan Rane and Sadia Khateeb. He revealed that they had already filmed for 15 days in one of the world's largest caves, which requires a three-day walk to get there.
Want To Do Exciting Work
In a conversation with the Times of India, he said, 'I want to do exciting work across mediums, but for now, I am concentrating on my film." 'We've already shot for 15 days in one of the biggest caves in the world — only 13–14 people are allowed in at a time. It's a three-day trek to get there," Mehra added.
The actor credited his Khatron Ke Khiladi experience and his upbringing in a Mussoorie hostel for preparing him for the trek. He also mentioned that they went through training with a stunt team that included martial arts and drills.
'It's a three-day trek to get there. They were confident because I had done Khatron Ke Khiladi. Plus, I grew up in a Mussoorie hostel, so trekking was a part of my life. But at this age, it's not easy. We went through training with a stunt team that included martial arts and drills," he said.
Post-Bigg Boss journey
Reflecting on his journey post-Bigg Boss, Karan Veer stated that had these opportunities come earlier, he wouldn't have valued them as much. He also noted that not every Bigg Boss contestant gets such chances. 'Had these things happened earlier, I wouldn't have valued them so much. I know it's transient — if I don't keep working hard, it'll fade. Not every Bigg Boss contestant gets such chances."
Selective About Work
Karan Veer wishes to be selective about the work he takes on. He said that after the reality show, he didn't do music videos or endorse apps but enrolled in acting workshops to refine his skills. 'Maybe that's why this film came my way. I'm now focusing on acting offers and more workshops."
First Look From Silaa
In July, the actor posted his first look as Zehraak from the film on Instagram. Along with the poster, he wrote, 'Khud hi khuda, khud hi insaaf! Khauf ka naya naam – ZEHRAAK." In the picture, he looked fierce, rugged and intense in his new avatar, holding a sword smeared with blood.

Diverse dialects strength of Kannada language: Poetess

Mysuru: Poetess and writer Cha. Sarvamangala on Sunday stated that diverse dialects are the strength of Kannada language. Speaking at a lecture organised by the Karnataka Ekikarana Trust at the Kalamandira, she noted that Kannada is a diverse language with significant difference in the different dialects. People from various parts of the state should be invited to share their dialects, and efforts should be made to visit them and appreciate the nuances of their language, she said. She emphasised the need to create an environment of Kannada in every household and to ensure Kannada is predominantly used at home. She also suggested introducing school and college students to the great personalities who worked for Kannada. Speaking on the topic 'Patil Puttappa's Role in the Karnataka Unification Movement,' writer Na. Diwakar said Patil Puttappa contributed significantly to Kannada journalism and served as a writer. He played an active role in the Gokak agitation and had a multifaceted personality. In Kannada films, the Mysuru dialect is predominantly used, while the dialect of North Karnataka is not utilised. Even when it is used, it is often only for comic relief. The different dialects of Kannada should be understood and used, he said. Karnataka Ekikarana Trust president Sujatha Akki, professor G Usharani, and children's theatre expert Arasikere Yogananda were present. 10,000 Assam artists to take Bagurumba global

Guwahati: After the successful showcase of Bihu and Jhumoir performances on a mega scale, it's time for Bagurumba, a folk dance of the Bodo community of the state, to take centre stage. Over 10,000 performers from 26 districts will display this beautiful dance to the entire world in Nov, adding more glitter to the Bodo community's heritage. Cultural affairs minister Bimal Boarh recently took stock of the preparations, including the costumes for the participants, instruments, and the master trainers responsible for training the performers. Over 8,500 performers from across the state staged the mega Jhumoir performance in front of PM Narendra Modi and a delegation of 61 heads of missions led by external affairs minister S Jaishankar, who attended the Advantage Assam 2.0 investment and infrastructure summit in Feb. PM Modi, after witnessing the performance, said he himself became the brand ambassador of northeastern culture and added, "Who would understand the smell and quality of tea better than a chaiwallah?" In 2023, Assam created history by setting a Guinness World Record for the "largest Bihu dance performance in a single venue." The event, held at the Sarussajai Stadium in Guwahati, involved 11,304 dancers and drummers (dhulia). This celebration of Bihu, Assam's spring festival, also marked the beginning of the Assamese New Year. PM Modi attended the performance. Sloth bear: Tourists barred from visiting Puliyancholai

Trichy: After a sloth bear was found wandering close to the Puliyancholai streams, on the foothills of Kolli hills near Thuraiyur town, the forest department on Sunday banned tourists from visiting the popular spot. Though the nearby reserve forest areas have sloth bears, the department said it was very rare for the protected animal to wander into the streams that have constant human movement. Namakkal forest department that has jurisdiction over Puliyancholai streams, situated about 80km from Trichy city, said the sloth bear was first spotted by locals around 6.30pm on Saturday. The department staff inspected the spot as locals shared a purported video of the bear near the streams. Listed under schedule I of Indian Wildlife Protection act, 1972, the bear was seen crossing the streams and reaching areas accessed by tourists. "The bear was around 2.5 feet tall. We are tracking the animal's movements. It may take a few days for the bear to return to the core reserve forest areas," a forest department official said. Three of them have been deployed in Puliyancholai to stop tourists and locals from moving into the area. Officials said there is a high chance of the animal attacking people if provoked. "There is substantial water flow in the streams, but tourists will not be allowed until we confirm that the bear has left the zone," the official added. Sloth bears feed on termites in the forest area. Leisure bathing has now been prohibited on a 500-metre stretch of the stream. Forest department said that bears are usually spotted only in reserve forest areas in the uphill zone of Kolli hills, mostly near Oyangudi and Soradipatti villages.
