Oasis 'drops inappropriate song from reunion tour setlist' after link to disgraced pop star
Oasis have reportedly dropped a track from their upcoming reunion tour setlist due to its association with disgraced pop star Gary Glitter.
Brothers Noel Gallagher, 57, and Liam Gallagher, 52, are said to have cut the song Hello - the opening track from their iconic 1995 album - because it includes lyrics from Gary's 1973 hit Hello, I'm Back Again.
The track features Liam repeating the line: 'Hello, hello, it's good to be back, it's good to be back' in the outro, with the melody of Gary's original playing subtly underneath.
Due to the sample, the disgraced star and his producer Mike Leander were credited as co-writers on the track alongside Noel, who wrote the rest of the album's songs.
A source told The Sun: 'The lyrics of the song would obviously have been a good fit for the reunion tour but the band have decided to leave it in the past.
'It would be inappropriate to play it given its connotations to Glitter and his convictions.'
MailOnline has contacted representatives for Oasis for comment.
Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, was jailed for 16 years in 2015 for sexually abusing three schoolgirls.
He was then released in 2023 but returned to prison just weeks later after breaching his parole conditions.
The predator has already resigned to dying behind bars after the Parole Board blocked his release in February 2024, ruling that he is still a risk to the public.
A source previously said: 'He still blames everyone for his situation, rather than accepting it's his fault.'
'Glitter is really down and moaning about his situation,' they told the Sun. 'He has said ''I'm going to die in jail now,'' and is resigned to it.
'He would be almost 87 by the time his sentence ends and knows the effect being inside can have on your health.'
The song's removal follows a major Oasis tour decision by Noel and Liam - one that hints the brothers still haven't fully buried the hatchet.
Oasis sensationally split in 2009 after a backstage bust-up - devastating their loyal fan base.
In the 14 years that have followed, a feud and bitter fighting has ensued with the brothers trading insults back and forth in interviews and social media.
But this year, the pair are reuniting for a huge world tour, and have dates booked across the UK, America, South America and Asia in 2025.
Despite the highly-anticipated reunion, it appears the Liam and Noel haven't put all of their differences behind them.
A source, who has a guest list ticket for one of the shows in Heaton Park, claimed they will be spending time separately following the shows.
They told The Sun: 'You might be seeing Oasis on stage but you will not be seeing Liam and Noel together afterwards.
'Each of them had a VIP list where their friends and famous fans could buy their tickets.
'But depending on which brother you got your ticket off, it's their green room and after-party you're invited to.
'It's gutting for people who want to hang out with both of them but it seems they're keeping it all at a distance.'
Despite the separate parties, the duo seem to be working well together, with Liam telling his fans he's loved working with Noel again.
And Noel feels the same, saying of his sibling: 'He's alright, he's on tip-top form.'

The Oasis Live 25 tour kicks off on 4 July at Cardiff's Principality Stadium before playing sell-out gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park, Wembley Stadium in London, and Edinburgh's Murrayfield stadium.
The Brit pop band will then head over to America, South America and Asia in 2025.

Pulp, OVO Hydro, Glasgow, review: Jarvis Cocker and co are in their pomp as their UK tour begins
Britpop's bleached bones are being gathered and reassembled at an extraordinary rate. Bands from Britain's mid-1990s guitar music scene who are touring this year include Supergrass, Gene, Cast, Echobelly and, of course, Oasis. You suspect that standing in the metaphorical wings watching this with folded arms and archly raised eyebrows are Sheffield's Pulp, one of the public's most cherished Britpop-era groups. Not only have Jarvis Cocker's troupe been reunited since 2023, with a previous comeback in 2011, but they last week released their first new album since 2001, an age-appropriate song collection called More that technically frames them as a current proposition rather than revivalists. But labels don't matter because… What. A. Show. The opening night of Pulp's tour in Glasgow was a two-part extravaganza that dazzled, moved and delighted. I've seen the band perform four times since 2011 – the last, a month ago – and I was shocked at how good this concert was: perfectly paced, meticulously crafted, musically rich and lavishly produced, with six box-fresh new songs that fitted seamlessly among the decades-old favourites. If you think you've seen Pulp in their pomp, think again. Beg, borrow or steal a ticket to this tour. Pulp's seedy edges were very much still there – velvet-clad Cocker, 61, prowled, preened and pointed like the misfit art student he once was – but, with up to 20 musicians on stage, the band's kitchen sink anthems have rarely sounded so cinematic. They came on just after 8pm, early for a rock concert. A red curtain parted and, backlit by blue, silhouettes of the band's four core members – Cocker, keyboardist Candida Doyle, guitarist Mark Webber and drummer Nick Banks – rose through the tiered stage floor on a platform. Take that, Take That. But it was a contrivance: it was Cocker with three cardboard cut-outs. Of course it was. The rest of the band were in situ and broke into slinky comeback single Spike Island. Augmented by members of Cocker's erstwhile solo band Jarv Is and a sizeable string section wearing hands-free 'Madonna microphones', Pulp gave their catalogue the full John Barry treatment. Sorted for E's & Wizz, 1995's wry take on rave culture, saw the band don bucket hats while lasers filled the arena. It segued into a celebratory Disco 2000, with Cocker scissor-kicking, in total command. Roughly 12,500 Glaswegians bounced as streamers fell. And it wasn't even nine o'clock. Old songs took on new life. Stunning lighting gave Sunrise, the largely-forgotten 2001 track, the potency of a Mayan religious ritual. Help the Aged, played for the first time since 2012, became slyly postmodern when Cocker asked the crowd to sing a particularly high line that his voice no longer reaches. Talking of age, there was even an interval. Very civilised. The only interval Oasis would take would be an enforced one if Liam threw a tambourine at Noel (entirely possible). This was a show of clever and surprising light and shade. The core members played a stripped-back Something Changed, busker-style. Yet on the full-band The Fear, two backing singers appeared – as if from nowhere – in long yellow sequinned dresses. Everything was helped by a sound system in the OVO that was as sharp as one of Cocker's suits. The years fell away for Common People, with all ages – students and oldies alike – belting it out, arms aloft. This was Pulp in glorious HD. 'I was born to perform,' Cocker sang on Spike Island. You're telling me. A joy from start to finish.

Police storm Rivals set to arrest actor accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend
Just one hour after he filmed a scene starring Danny Dyer, an extra on TV show Rivals was arrested. Nigel Adams was reportedly led away in cuffs by six police officers while he was still in costume. The 45-year-old had been shooting a polo scene, with a second series of the hit Disney+ drama starring Emily Atack and David Tennant recently confirmed. Avon and Somerset Police are believed to have been tipped off that the former bricklayer was working on the Rivals set this week; hence, two cop cars showed up. His co-stars are said to have watched on in shock, with a source telling The Sun that it was 'very dramatic'. 'Everyone was in their costumes, and Danny was filming this polo scene when, an hour later, police suddenly turned up to arrest one of the extras,' added the insider. 'It was shocking.' Adams is said to have spent two nights in a cell before appearing in Bristol magistrates' court on Friday, accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. The supporting actor, who has also appeared in Doctor Who and Casualty, is alleged to have assaulted her at a house in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, with cops called to the address on May 31 at 2am. In court, he entered no plea and was given conditional bail. He's due back in the city's crown court on July 7. In a statement, Rivals production company Happy Prince said: 'On the 4th June, the police visited the set regarding an unrelated matter involving a supporting artist. 'Production co-operated with the police. We do not have any further information as it is not connected to Rivals or to our production.' Corroborating their statement, Avon and Somerset Police confirmed a man from Locking, Somerset, had been arrested at Berkeley Castle on June 4, charged with assault and causing actual bodily harm. As well as the shows mentioned, Adams was also an extra in House of the Dragon and The Forsyte Saga. In 2022, he appeared in the movie Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, which starred Ray Winstone. More Trending Those close to Adams have now said he's fearing the end of his career as an extra due to the arrest. 'He'll be gutted because it could end his TV career, something he really loves doing,' said a friend. They added: 'He's a bricklayer by trade, but he's been doing more and more TV work; he's been in loads of stuff.
