Good news, Ozians! It's almost time for "Wicked" to return from intermission.
The first trailer for "Wicked: For Good," the highly anticipated follow-up to the blockbuster musical "Wicked," has debuted in conjunction with a theatrical rerelease of the original film.
The footage teases the second half of the Broadway show, which picks up with the people of Oz living in fear of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) after she defied the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and was branded the Wicked Witch of the West.
With "Wicked," director Jon M. Chu chose to split the story of the musical into two films, ending the first part just where the show takes an intermission. The sequel was originally known as "Wicked: Part Two" before being given the official title of "Wicked: For Good," a reference to the most famous song from the second half of the show.
All of the main stars from the original "Wicked" will reprise their roles, including Ariana Grande as Glinda, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Marissa Bode as Nessarose and Ethan Slater as Boq.

But unlike the first movie, "Wicked: For Good" will feature two new, original songs that were not in the stage show. Chu told Vanity Fair one of the new songs is for Elphaba, while the other is for Glinda. Erivo previously told Variety she worked with composer Stephen Schwartz on one of the new songs, teasing, "When we filmed it, the entire crew was in tears. I hope audiences are ready — it's a song that speaks to the heart of who Elphaba is."
At CinemaCon in April, Grande teased that in "Wicked: For Good," Glinda has to "look at her reflection to figure out what it means to be Glinda the Good," while Erivo said Elphaba "has to learn how to use her powers for the betterment of good in exile." Producer Marc Platt also promised "more complexity and more profundity" in the two characters.
The original "Wicked" grossed more than $750 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film based on a Broadway musical in history. It earned 10 Oscar nominations, including best picture, and won the Academy Awards for best costume design and production design.

A new trailer for the film landed on the world wide web today, offering a longer look at the Bill Condon-directed feature than the teaser that was released earlier in the summer. Based on the 1993 Broadway musical that was based on Manuel Puig's 1976 novel and its 1985 feature Oscar-winning film adaptation, the new Spider Woman earned strong reviews on the festival circuit and awards Lopez a showcase role tailor-made for Oscar season. First things first: no, this isn't an Into the Spider-Verse spin-off. Set in Brazil during the South American country's mid-20th century military dictatorship period, Spider Woman largely unfolds in a jail cell occupied by revolutionary Valentin Arregui (played by Diego Luna) and gay cinephile Luis Molina (Tonatiuh). Unbeknownst to Valentin, Luis has been offered an early release if he plays informant for the ruling junta.
