Adivasi Mela celebrations to be subdued this year
While the state govt had initially planned an elaborate celebration across all districts and few other states too, concerned officials on Tuesday said the format will no longer be spread over three days.
"Just a symbolic event may take place, but all works related to it has been halted now," said a source in IPRD department. This year's theme, "Indigenous Peoples and AI: Defending Rights, Shaping Futures," focuses on tribal self-reliance and cultural pride.
"In light of the passing of Shibu Soren ji, we are reviewing public events and performances to ensure they reflect the mood of the state. Even if the event takes place, it will be low-key now," said an IPRD official.
Meanwhile, at Deoghar's Shravani Mela, the drone and laser light show intended to visually depict the spiritual and cultural history of Baba Baidyanath Dham has also been postponed, informed IPRD officials.

J'khand MP, Cong MLA demand Bharat Ratna for Shibu Soren
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Ranchi, Aug 6 (PTI) Jharkhand Rajya Sabha MP and JMM leader Mahua Maji on Wednesday demanded that former chief minister Shibu Soren be posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna. She made the demand a day after the final rites of the JMM co-founder, who breathed his last at a private hospital in Delhi on Monday. 'I don't think there is any other tribal leader of his (Shibu Soren) stature in the country. Given his struggle, movements and sacrifices for the uplift of the deprived, oppressed, poor and tribals, he should have been awarded the Bharat Ratna long back. We will appeal to the Union government for it," Maji told reporters. Stating that Soren was a people's leader, Maji said, 'An era has come to an end with his demise. His name will always be written in golden letters in Jharkhand. He should be awarded Bharat Ratna," she added. On Tuesday, Bihar MP Pappu Yadav and Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari had demanded Bharat Ratna for Soren in recognition of his contributions to the uplift of tribals. Honour Shibu ji with Bharat Ratna, say political leaders
Ranchi: Many political leaders attending the last rites of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) patriarch Shibu Soren on Tuesday called for conferring the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian honour, to one of the tribal stalwarts of Indian politics. Leaders across the political spectrum, including both the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partner and the INDIA bloc parties, echoed similar sentiments. Jharkhand Congress leader and state health minister Irfan Ansari said that conferring Bharat Ratna to Shibu Soren will not only be a true tribute to Jharkhand but to the entire tribal society of the country. "Shibu Soren ji is not just a politician but a revolutionary, a people's hero, who advocated for tribals' rights and dedicated his life to protect their rights over Jal, Jangal and Jameen. Honouring him with the Bharat Ratna will be the truest tribute to his legacy," said Ansari. He appealed to the Centre to confer Soren with the Bharat Ratna, paying floral tribute to the tribal leader. Congress MP from Bihar's Purnia constituency, Pappu Yadav too sought Bharat Ratna for the former chief minister, in recognition to his contributions for the upliftment of tribals. "There has been no tribal leader like Soren in the country's history," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 11 Foods That Help In Healing Knee Pain Naturally Undo Meanwhile, Union ministers Annapurna Devi, Jual Oram and Sanjay Seth, who attended Soren's last rites representing the Centre, have not clearly commented on conferring Soren the Bharat Ratna.
