Dundee SAPS issues warning about online scams and criminals impersonating police officers
In a separate warning, the police have also cautioned the public about individuals posing as police officers around Dundee shopping centres. These suspects impersonate detectives to scam unsuspecting victims.
'Residents are reminded that real police officers must produce an official appointment certificate when asked. If in doubt, verify their identity by contacting your nearest police station,' said SAPS spokesperson Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana.

Muizenberg mass murders: At least seven killed within three days
Police have launched an investigation following the gruesome discovery of three bodies following a mass shooting in Muizenberg, Western Cape. The bodies of one male and two females, aged between 29 and 32 were discovered at Mike Place, Xakabantu in Muizenberg on Saturday at around 23:30. South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in the Western Cape Colonel Andrè Traut said a fourth victim, a male, survived after sustaining a gunshot wound and managed to escape. Traut said the suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested and the motive for the attack remains unclear, and detectives are pursuing all available leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. 'In the meantime, policing in the area has been intensified to prevent any further violence. 'The SAPS appeals to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or to submit information anonymously via the MySAPS mobile application,' he said. The mass murder happened just days after a similar incident was reported in Overcome Heights also in Muizenberg. Police confirmed that four men were shot dead in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 13 August, in Overcome Heights. The bodies of the victims – aged between 20 and 37 – were discovered at approximately 05:30 on Mountain Road, each having sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
