A 31-year-old from Mattawa, Ont., has been charged with uttering threats and impaired driving following an incident late last month.
'A weapon was reportedly brandished and the accused was later determined to have been driving while under the influence of an intoxicating substance,' North Bay Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Monday.
The incident took place around 9:30 on July 26 on Brydges Street in Mattawa.
Pointed crossbow at victims
'One individual had reportedly brandished a crossbow, uttered threats and pointed the weapon in the direction of the victims,' police said.
'Officers located and arrested the accused, who was determined to have been driving and had consumed an intoxicating substance.'
Charges include driving while impaired by drugs, failing to comply with a demand, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and weapons possession.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on Sept. 2.
The vehicle was impounded for a week and the suspect's driver's licence was suspended for 90 days.

Create Account Cops say on July 16 a search warrant was executed at a rural location on Highway 3, which had a large greenhouse area that allegedly contained illegal cannabis plants in different stages of growth. Several items that were deemed to be offence-related property were also seized including grow lights, machinery and other cannabis processing equipment. Sixteen individuals between the ages of 24 and 58 — 13 of whom had no fixed addresses— were each charged with cultivating cannabis without authorization and possession for the purpose of distribution. The three with addresses were from North York, Brantford and Markham. The investigation is ongoing. Provincial police say a 31-year-old woman has been arrested on 14 criminal charges following an attempted abduction at a youth soccer game in Napanee, Ont. Police allege the woman smashed the window of a vehicle, threatened to kill bystanders and attempted to abduct a 12-year-old attending a soccer game at Kinsman Field on Wednesday. OPP say a parent attending the game intervened and the child was removed from the situation before the woman fled the scene on foot. They say the suspect, who was also charged with eight counts of failure to comply with a probation order, was known to police and was located nearby and arrested. (Supplied) Robert Ladouceur appeared virtually in court Thursday morning, wearing an orange jumpsuit, from a holding room at the Central North Correctional Centre (CNCC) in Penetanguishene. Ladouceur, 52, from Barrie, who also goes by the name 'Tattoo Rob,' was taken into custody on Sat., Aug. 2, after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Police say he is the primary suspect in an ongoing investigation connected to a wooded area near Victoria Street, John Street, and Anne Street South. While Barrie police remain tight-lipped about the investigation, court documents obtained by CTV News reveal Ladouceur is facing numerous weapons-related charges involving a handgun and fleeing from police. Barrie police previously stated Ladouceur was last seen in a grey Dodge Avenger. While it has not been confirmed whether Ladouceur was driving, photos show a heavily damaged Dodge Avenger and several OPP cruisers with visible damage. It remains unclear whether the arrest was carried out by the OPP or Barrie police. Ladouceur was represented during the virtual court appearance by his lawyer, Eginhart Ehlers, who plans to schedule a special bail hearing. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug., 13.
