James Argent's girlfriend covers eyes as she's seen for first time since attack

Daily Mirror14-05-2025
EXCLUSIVE: Former TOWIE star James Argent's girlfriend Nicoline Artursson has been seen for the first time since news of his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence while on holiday
James Argent's girlfriend has broken cover for the first time since he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in Spain. The TOWIE star, 37, reportedly attacked his model girlfriend Nicoline Artursson while on holiday.
He was arrested on May 5. Argent was taken into custody and reportedly received a suspended jail sentence and must carry out a 'resocialisation course in the field of gender violence.' The reality TV personality was also given a restraining order banning him from contacting Ms Artursson.

In the Court of Violence Against Women in Fuengirola, Argent admitted to "mistreating" Artursson. Shocked onlookers told the Mirror they were "frightened" by what happened and said "heard an aggressive man yelling" and "throwing objects from the terrace of a nearby house".

The Mirror understands Nicoline's mother arrived at the scene to aid her daughter and police transported them both to a hospital.
Nicoline has since been spotted for the first time since news of Argent's arrest. She kept her head down as she walked alongside her mum in Spain.
The model, who was former Miss Sweden, looked down at her phone as she walked along the street carrying a plastic shopping bag. She wore a white T-shirt and a pair of black capri trousers as well as a large pair of sunglasses.
Argent and Artursson met by chance in Marbella last summer and went public in Septembe r.

One onlooker admitted to being "frightened" by the shouts, telling us: "We were frightened by his shouts. We couldn't believe what we were seeing." They claimed Artursson appeared to be "physically and emotionally devastated" by what happened.
A source close to TOWIE star Argent told The Sun he was "remorseful" about the attack but insisted "he never meant any harm."

When approached by The Mirror, the Guardia Civil confirmed the arrest, saying: 'We can confirm Mr Argent was arrested by 'Policia Local' of Mijas for an alleged crime of domestic violence on 5th May.'
Argent rose to fame as an original cast member on The Only Way Is Essex, appearing on the ITV series from 2010 until 2018. Over the years, the 37-year-old singer has taken part in a number of reality TV shows, including Celebrity Super Spa, The Jump, Sugar Free Farm and Celebs Go Dating.

TOWIE suspended Argent from filming in October 2014 when he failed a drug test. He later attended rehab before returning to the series. The reality TV star has regularly been an inpatient at centres due to his issues with drug addiction.
Argent previously spoke about Artursson to OK! as he said: 'I was walking to my gig at Elliott Wright's restaurant in Marbella. All of a sudden I see this woman coming towards me.

"I was like, 'Wow, she's beautiful.' She was just in her gym clothes, wearing no make-up. She'd actually just fed a stray cat."
Speaking about her, he added: "To have her beside me is like a dream. She's absolutely beautiful. She's a combination of Julia Roberts and Claudia Schiffer. What I love about Nicoline is, even though she's very humble, she's very classy.'

Michele Bourda: Missing persons expert says Greek police must do two important things now

British woman Michele Ann Joy Bourda was last seen over a fortnight ago on a sunbed on a Greek beach, with her belongings still there when she went missing The chances of finding missing Michele Ann Joy Bourda are decreasing by the day, and Greek police must act fast with two important steps to solve the mystery, according to a leading expert. ‌ On the afternoon of August 1, Michele's husband, Christos Bourda, dozed off on a sunbed on Ofrynio Beach in Greece. When he awoke, Michele, who had been sunning herself on the lounger next to him, was nowhere to be seen. Her belongings, including her clothes and bag, remained next to her chair. ‌ The 59-year-old Brit's whereabouts remain a mystery, and investigators continue to pore over clues as to what could have happened. Michele's loved ones have spent the last couple of weeks in turmoil as they hope and pray for her safe return. ‌ As the search continues into its third week, Charlie Hedges MBE, who is acknowledged as one of the UK's foremost experts on missing persons, explained that the longer someone is missing, the less likely they are to be found alive. "This is tempered by the circumstances of the disappearance, their personal circumstances and medical history, and what has happened to them," he told The Mirror. "Without more detailed knowledge of the circumstances it is very hard to say what may have happened and whether or not she is alive." The former police sergeant explained that Greek authorities should be conducting a thorough investigation into what may have caused her to go missing, including her medical history, her relationship with her husband, anything that may have happened to her while she was away, and whether there any reasons for her to want to disappear. "From this, they should be able to assess whether this is likely to be an accident, any third party involvement or a conscious act on her part." ‌ A major land and sea search was launched following Michele's disappearance, with three recreational craft, five fishing boats and two patrol boats scouring the coastline, but no trace has been found. The Hellenic Coast Guard and local police have also searched farmland, houses and a large reservoir in the surrounding area. ‌ "The exact nature of any searches should be based on information they have about the disappearance and what resources are available in that area," Mr Hedges said. "There are two obvious search areas - the sea and the land. Both are very different types of environment, requiring different search resources and methods of searching. "Local knowledge, tide patterns, currents, wind etc will be a factor in trying to determine what would happen to someone in the sea in that particular location. Searches would initially be from boats and possibly from the air. The terrain may lead to the use of sub-aqua searches and/or deployment of sonar detectors. Again, much will depend on what is known and what resources are available. ‌ "On land, this will depend on the terrain but foot searches and drones could be used to search for clues or traces of what may have happened. These should be based on a structured search pattern to ensure that nothing is missed. "The police will conduct some searches and they may engage volunteer search teams and maritime units to assist. They may also consider search dogs. Exact numbers needed are hard to assess without being on the ground." After reports that Michele was last spotted swimming in deep water, Mr Hedges noted that the sea is a challenging environment for searches, which depend hugely on wind, tide and currents. He added: "There may be some advantage to be had from the potential clarity of the water, providing better visibility for searchers. All searches should start from the point last seen and radiate out based on what information is known or comes to light regarding the disappearance. "When to stop searching is a difficult decision but will be based on what is known about the disappearance and estimates of survivability before it becomes a search for a body, not a live person."

Tourist airlifted to hospital after being mauled by shark while spearfishing in Bahamas

The 63-year-old man was attacked by a shark while spearfishing in the Bahamas on Sunday, and was airlifted to a US hospital after suffering severe injuries, authorities said A holidaymaker was airlifted to a US hospital on Sunday after he was savagely attacked by a shark while spearfishing in the Bahamas, according to authorities. ‌ The 63 year old tourist from America was attacked shortly after 1pm local time near Big Grand Cay on the island of Abaco, as per a statement shared on the Royal Bahamas Police Force's Facebook page. The man sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to a local clinic before being airlifted. ‌ Abaco is situated about 200 miles east of Miami, Florida. The Mirror has reached out to the Royal Bahamas police for further information ‌ While shark attacks are historically most common off the coasts of the U.S., Australia, South Africa and Brazil, the Bahamas still has one of the highest rates of shark attacks globally. Despite being the country with the ninth-highest attack rate, such incidents are still extremely rare, reports the Mirror US. According to the International Shark Attack File (ISAF), there have been 34 unprovoked shark attacks in the Bahamas since 1580, equating to roughly one attack every 13 years. Although shark sightings can be relatively frequent in parts of the U.S. and Caribbean, statistics show that the likelihood of being bitten is low. In 2024, a mere 47 individuals were victims of unprovoked shark attacks, marking the lowest figure in approximately three decades, according to the ISAF. Out of these incidents, only four tragically resulted in fatalities. This represented a significant decrease of about a third from 2023, with experts dubbing 2024 as "an exceptionally calm year for shark bites." The U.S. was the site of 28 of last year's shark attacks, spread across six states. Florida, known for its extensive coastline and warm waters, was the hotspot for half of all U.S. attacks, making human-shark encounters more frequent. Australia recorded nine shark bites last year, while 10 other countries or territories each reported one incident. In February, a shark attack at Bimini Bay, a popular resort area in the Bahamas, left two American tourists injured. "Initial reports indicate that the victims, both USA residents, sustained injuries while swimming in the waters at Bimini Bay," stated a press release from the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Both tourists received initial treatment at a nearby clinic before being airlifted to New Providence, another Bahamian island, according to the statement. The police noted that one of the victims had suffered serious injuries.
