Éderson on his way to Galatasaray? Guardiola keeps silent
Éderson / @x.com/islerspor
Speculation is mounting over the possible departure of Brazilian goalkeeper Éderson Moraes from Manchester City this summer, following several trophy-laden years with the Sky Blues at both domestic and international levels.
According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Éderson was left out of City's squad for the match against Wolverhampton due to advanced negotiations with Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Romano reports that Galatasaray have submitted an official €10 million bid, but Manchester City are holding out for a higher fee. Meanwhile, the Brazilian shot-stopper has made it clear he wants to join the Turkish club, bringing the deal closer to completion.
With Éderson seemingly on the brink of leaving, the name of Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is emerging as the likely candidate to step in and guard City's goal next season.
Éderson to Galatasaray? .. Guardiola remains tight-lipped
In an interview with the BBC, Pep Guardiola opted to remain coy when asked about Éderson's potential exit, simply stating: "No comment."
It's worth noting that Manchester City kicked off their Premier League campaign with a resounding 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton.

Lokomotiv fans whistle Schalke's Antwi-Adjei after racist abuse warning in German Cup game
LEIPZIG, Germany (AP) — Schalke midfielder Christopher Antwi-Adjei was whistled by Lokomotiv Leipzig supporters after he appeared to complain that he was subjected to racist abuse during the teams' German Cup game on Sunday. Antwi-Adjei, who is Black, broke off play while taking a throw-in in the 13th minute, and subsequently spoke with a match official on the sideline. Referee Max Burda spoke to both captains while the first-round game was interrupted for around two minutes. The stadium announcer asked fans to refrain from using racist or discriminatory language. Antwi-Adjei was subsequently whistled whenever he received the ball. 'We couldn't verify it,' Lokomotiv spokesman Carsten Maschulle told Sky TV during halftime. 'We have a member of staff who uses a wheelchair who was exactly or almost where the player was. He didn't hear anything. We asked around a bit, but no one heard anything. The linesman, who is obviously standing nearby during the throw-in, apparently didn't hear anything either. That's the current status.' Schalke won 1-0 with Bryan Lasme scoring the winner in extra time. Schalke plays in the second division while Lokomotiv is at fourth-tier level after narrowly missing out on promotion last season. ___ AP soccer:

Why did Giannis Antetokounmpo slap Greece national teammate in viral video?
EuroBasket 2025 doesn't begin until Aug. 27, and the Greece national team doesn't debut until the following day, but Giannis Antetokounmpo already has Hellas going viral a week early for something that happened in a huddle. Teams are practicing and playing exhibitions in preparation for the tournament, and during one such session for Greece, Antetokounmpo slapped teammate Giannoulis Larentzakis across the back of the head in a video shared Saturday on X. The cause of the slap hasn't been confirmed, which has only caused people to speculate on the seriousness of the situation. But what's clear is Antetokounmpo really put some oomph into this swing. Why did Giannis slap him? Again, there hasn't been any comment from the Greece side of things, so who knows? But if you want a couple totally not made up possibilities: Larentzakis wasn't being himself because he forgot to eat a Snickers Larentzakis questioned why Thanasis Antetokounmpo was there Larentzakis passed gas in the huddle and it stank really bad Was Giannis being serious? As hard as the slap appeared to be, it's possible Giannis wasn't slapping Larentzakis with ill-intent. We can't assume that without knowing anything. In fact, one former NBA player and Larentzakis' EuroLeague teammate, Evan Fournier, already made light of the situation in a tweet. The Eurohoops X account noted that Larentzakis and Antetokounmpo grew up and went to high school together and remain close friends. A fan account posted another angle of the slap and the aftermath of the huddle, and everything at least appeared fine as players walked to the bench. That's all we know for now. It was certainly a hard slap. It may or may not have been that serious. This article originally appeared on For The Win: Giannis Antetokounmpo slaps Greece teammate in viral video

Newcastle signs Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa for reported $53M
NEWCASTLE, England (AP) — Newcastle bolstered its midfield options ahead of a return to the Champions League by signing midfielder Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa for a reported $53 million on Sunday. The 24-year-old Ramsey, who came through Villa's academy and made 167 appearances for the club, is Newcastle's fourth signing of a transfer window where most of the focus has been on its star striker, Alexander Isak. Isak has been linked with a move to Liverpool. Newcastle has already signed winger Anthony Elanga, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and defender Malick Thiaw. 'This is a big move for me," Ramsey said, 'but as soon as I knew the gaffer (manager Eddie Howe) was interested and really liked me, it didn't take much time to decide. His track record of developing players, especially those who have gone on to become internationals here, speaks for itself.' Howe said Ramsey's 'qualities will bring us something different on the pitch.' 'He fits the profile of being young and hungry to develop, but also with a wealth of Premier League football under his belt,' Howe said. 'Jacob offers versatility and his directness in attack." ___ AP soccer:
