Rajinikanth starrer Jailer 2 has been grabbing attention for a long time. The shoot is going on in full swing. Recent buzz suggests that veteran Bollywood superstar Mithun Chakraborty may be joining forces.
India Today has reported that Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty will join the shoot alongside Rajinikanth later this week. He will play a full-fledged role. Many other actors, including Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff, are expected to make cameo appearances in the film.
The 74-year-old legend, who has been frequently flying in and out of Chennai to wrap up different production schedules, recently joined the crew to celebrate director Nelson Dilipkumar's birthday in style. On June 21, Nelson turned 41, and to mark the occasion, Jailer 2 producers Sun Pictures took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a series of candid moments from the celebration. The pictures, now going viral, show Rajinikanth warmly presenting Nelson with a bouquet, posing for cheerful photos alongside comedian Yogi Babu, and even feeding the filmmaker a slice of birthday cake—a classic Thalaivar gesture.
The buzz reached fever pitch recently when rumors surfaced suggesting Shah Rukh Khan might appear in a special cameo in the film. However, Box Office South India later dismissed the speculation, clarifying that SRK is neither part of the cast nor involved in any form.

The announcement teaser of Jailer 2 opened with a radio announcement that a cyclone was making its way to the coast, even as music director Anirudh and director Nelson are shown having a funny conversation in Goa, where they have come for what Nelson says is a story discussion session. The two are obviously looking to find a storyline for Nelson's next film.
The hilarious banter between the two soon makes way for some explosive action as random people who enter the room where the two are seated either get shot or stabbed. With both the music director and the director scurrying for cover, you see a hazy image of Rajinikanth entering the room, obviously looking to hunt down any other survivors left behind.
When Rajinikanth leaves the room and steps out, a grenade is lobbed in. Outside, Rajinikanth takes on more powerful villains. That is when an awestruck Anirudh tells director Nelson, 'This looks fearsome Nelsa! Let's make this into a film!" Just the announcement teaser of Jailer 2 was a big hit, garnering over 13 million views in a matter of just 48 hours.
