It's not quite football season, but Netflix is giving NFL fans a reason to cheer (especially those who root for the Cincinnati Bengals).
The streaming service's hit docuseries, "Quarterback," which highlights the lives of three NFL quarterbacks both on and off the field, returns this week with season 2. The show follows Bengals' Joe Burrow, Detroit Lions' Jared Goff and Atlanta Falcons' Kirk Cousins throughout the 2024-25 season.

NFL legend Peyton Manning served as an executive producer on the docuseries, which was reportedly a main reason why Burrow joined the series. According to Bengals senior writer Geoff Hobson, Burrow initially turned down the show, which premieres July 8.
"He's going to protect me, protect our team, protect our organization," Burrow said in May. "I have trust in him for saying that and trust that he's going to do that. I probably wouldn't have done it if he wasn't involved, but I have a lot of trust and faith in him to not do anything that would hurt me or the team."
Here's everything you need to know about "Quarterback" season 2.

Crochet gets 1st career shutout and complete game as Red Sox beat Rays for 9th straight win

BOSTON (AP) — All-Star Garrett Crochet pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts for his first career shutout and complete game, leading the Boston Red Sox past the Tampa Bay Rays 1-0 on Saturday for their ninth straight victory. Carlos Narváez drove in the lone run for the Red Sox, who matched their longest winning streak since April 2021. Advertisement The 26-year-old Crochet (10-4), a second-time All-Star, opted not to pitch in the game on Tuesday in Atlanta so he could rest his arm for the second part of the season. He didn't walk a batter in his 100-pitch gem. The Rays have lost 10 of 13 and are 2-7 on a 10-game road trip. Boston goes for the four-game series sweep Sunday. Wearing their yellow alternate jerseys, the Red Sox scored in the fourth when rookie Roman Anthony doubled to right and scored when Narváez singled under shortstop Taylor Wells' glove. Shane Baz (8-5) was the tough-luck loser, giving up the run in 6 1/3 innings with five hits, three strikeouts and two walks. Advertisement Key moment With runners on the corners and the Rays trailing 1-0 in the sixth, Ha-Seong Kim attempted a suicide squeeze. First baseman Abraham Toro charged and made a throw falling to the ground to catcher Narváez, who tagged Wells' arm just before his hand touched the plate. The Rays challenged but the call stood. Key stat Boston's Ceddanne Rafaela's streak of recording an RBI in seven straight games and scoring a run in eight was snapped. The last Red Sox player to have both an RBI and score in seven straight was Hall of Famer Ted Williams in 1942. Up next Rays RHP Ryan Pepiot (6-6, 3.32 ERA) is scheduled to face Red Sox RHP Brayan Bello (4-3, 3.42) in the series finale Sunday. ___ AP MLB: Ken Powtak, The Associated Press

From one 14 to another, White Sox great Konerko gets gift from Pope Leo XIV

CHICAGO (AP) — White Sox great Paul Konerko got a present from one No. 14 to another in honor of the 20th anniversary of the 2005 World Series championship run — a jersey signed by noted Chicago fan Pope Leo XIV. Cardinal Blase Cupich, the archbishop of Chicago, presented Konerko a jersey with the new pontiff's signature on the back during a ceremony prior to the game against the Cleveland Guardians. It had the six-time All-Star's last name and 'Pope Leo' above the No. 14. Advertisement Robert Prevost became the first pope from the U.S. in the history of the Catholic Church when he was elected on May 8. The Chicago-born missionary, who took the name Leo XIV, is a White Sox fan. Prevost attended the 2005 World Series opener against Houston in Chicago. He watched from Section 140, Row 19, Seat 2 as the White Sox beat the Astros 5-3 on the way to a four-game sweep and their first title since 1917. In May, the team unveiled a graphic installation near the seat paying tribute to Pope Leo and that moment. The pillar artwork features a waving Pope Leo XIV, along with a picture from the TV broadcast of the future pope sitting with good friend Ed Schmit and his grandson, Eddie. Members of the 2005 team are in Chicago this weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the championship run. The White Sox debuted uniform patches honoring late closer Bobby Jenks, who died last week in Portugal, where he was being treated for stomach cancer. On Friday, the team unveiled a statue of former ace Mark Buehrle. ___ AP MLB: The Associated Press
