The #1 Netflix movie right now has spent an entire month in the streamer's global Top 10
Netflix, I hope you have profusely thanked directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, along with everyone else who worked on KPop Demon Hunters — a glittery, candy-colored spectacle of an animated gem that's not only one of the best original movies the streamer has released in years, but also a ratings smash hit for the streamer.
The movie, about a fictional K-pop girl group that hunts demons, is so big that it's actually dominated the Netflix global Top 10 movies chart for an entire month now, while its soundtrack has likewise taken the Billboard charts by storm. This week, in fact, Billboard reported that the soundtrack has climbed to #2 on the Billboard 200, while seven of its tracks (led by 'Golden,' from the movie's fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X) are currently on the Billboard Hot 100.

Long story short: If anything could be said to have attained the status of pop culture conversation-starter of the summer, it's this Netflix standout — which, by the way, is also on track to become the most-watched Netflix animated movie ever.
In terms of the latest data on the movie from Netflix, as noted above, it's now spent four weeks on the streamer's global Top 10 English-language movies chart. It racked up another 24.2 million views for the 7-day period that ended on July 13, it's a Top 10 Netflix movie in 93 countries this week — and it's actually the #1 movie in 26 countries, including Canada, the UK, and more.
KPop Demon Hunters comes from the same studio behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Netflix's The Mitchells vs. The Machines, and the movie's central characters are a trio of K-pop megastars named Rumi, Mira, and Zoey who dominate the charts by day and hunt demons at night. Their rivals are The Saja Boys, a seductive boy band made up of heartthrobs that are also literal demons.
In terms of some of its other achievements, the movie has managed to achieve a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes critics' score as of this writing (96%) as well as an audience score that's in the same ballpark (91%). 'I'm a 45 year old dad and watched this with my two girls,' one YouTube commenter raved earlier this month. 'I cried like the fan dudes in the film. I guess it's never too late to become a K-pop fan.'
The best thing about the movie, for me, is that it was clearly made by people who have a genuine affection for K-pop. And that love shines through in every detail, from the character designs to the soundtrack, making K-Pop Demon Hunters feel, instead of just another Netflix release, more like a love letter in celebration of K-pop's energy, spirit, and global impact.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner, the Emmy-nominated actor who starred as Theo Huxtable for eight seasons on 'The Cosby Show,' has reportedly died. He was 54. Warner was on vacation with his family in Costa Rica when he accidentally drowned while swimming, People confirmed Monday. In addition to 'The Cosby Show,' Warner amassed dozens of TV credits, including four seasons as the lead actor on 'Malcolm & Eddie' and six seasons as A.J. Austin on 'The Resident.' 'He's one of my mentors, and he's been very influential and played a big role in my life as a friend and mentor,' Warner told Billboard. 'Just as it's painful to hear any woman talk about sexual assault, whether true or not, it's just as painful to watch my friend and mentor go through this.'

Renewed scrutiny of Jeffrey Epstein's relationship to President Donald Trump and calls for the government to release all of its information on the convicted sex offender have re-sparked the public's fascination with the Epstein case and pushed podcasts, documentaries and books about his scandal to the top of most-watched lists. The docuseries, which has four episodes, was watched for 13.6 million minutes last week, up from 3.7 million minutes the week before. On Apple's list of top podcasts Monday, seven of the 24 most-listened-to episodes touched on the latest drama surrounding Epstein and the federal government, with a three-day-old Pod Save America episode titled "Trump's Secret Epstein Letter Revealed" in the No. 1 spot. In early July, the Justice Department said it would not be making any more of its investigative files on Epstein available to the public despite promises from Attorney General Pam Bondi, and said there is no "Epstein client list" as touted by the Trump administration. Adam Levine Reveals How Blake Shelton Pranked Him When He Was First Dating Wife Behati Prinsloo
When Adam Levine first started dating his now-wife, model Behati Prinsloo, he wanted to woo her with a special present. So, he enlisted the help of his The Voice costar, Blake Shelton — rookie mistake. While serving as the guest on the Thursday (July 3) episode of Hot Ones, the Maroon 5 frontman revealed how the country star hilariously pranked him early on in his relationship with Prinsloo. 'My now-wife, then brand-new girlfriend, she said she really wanted a teacup pig,' Levine told host Sean Evans. Shelton returned with a piglet that the 'Moves Like Jagger' singer then gifted to Prinsloo, but the setup 'probably lasted like three weeks' before the couple got tired of the pig's incessant squeals and gifted it to a little girl. When that girl sent them photos of the pig six months later, revealing that it had grown to be 'like, 400 pounds,' Levine says he realized that Shelton had knowingly given him a standard pig — not a 'teacup' pig as he'd asked. 'I'm just like, 'Blake, bro, $5,000 for a pig that wasn't a micro pig?'' Levine recalled, laughing. 'And he's like, 'You're an idiot! There's no such thing as f–king teacup pigs you dumba–!'' Levine continued. 'So that was a pretty good prank that he played on me.' The 'God's Country' singer and Levine served as coaches together on The Voice for 16 seasons, starting when the show first debuted in 2011, and pranked each other often on the NBC competition. Luckily, Shelton's piggy prank didn't impact Levine's relationship; the Maroon 5 singer and Prinsloo would go on to tie the knot in 2014 and welcome three children together in the years after that. As his kids are growing up, Levine — who will drop new album Love Is Like with his Maroon 5 bandmates in August — is now having fun coaching their youth basketball team. 'My worst quality [as a coach] is I get hotheaded,' he told Evans. 'And these kids are children. They're eight years old. But when the refs are sleeping, man, I'm like, 'Come on!'' Speaking of being hotheaded, Levine definitely felt the heat on Hot Ones. He started by warning viewers that he gets 'really deep sweat' under his eyes — 'That's going to be really attractive to share with everybody,' he quipped — many bites of chicken after which he started perspiring profusely from his lower lids, dabbing at them furiously with his napkin.
