Ruben Amorim identifies 'unbelievable' Man Utd star who will provide selection headache
Ruben Amorim hailed Mason Mount's performance as 'unbelievable' and is anticipating a number of selection headaches heading into Manchester United's first Premier League match of the season. The Red Devils welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford when they kick off their campaign next Sunday.
United wrapped up their pre-season preparations with an underwhelming draw against Fiorentina. Amorim's men were forced to come from behind after some dreadful defending at a corner, and only recorded a draw thanks to an own goal.
Nevertheless, United's new-look frontline, short of Benjamin Sesko who was presented to fans ahead of the game, showed glimpses of promise. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo did not get on the scoresheet but will have lofty expectations having come in with a proven Premier League record.
It was Mount that drew praise from Amorim on Saturday afternoon for his role in the frontline however. The ex-Chelsea star proved his versatility and persistence and could be set to start the season, with Sesko only having a week to get up to speed in time for Arsenal.
Amorim said: "It's unbelievable. The way he works is unbelievable.
"I move him all the time in different positions and he knows every position. But also the other guys, it was a good test to prepare for the first game."
And Amorim is pleased he is going to have difficult decisions to make in the coming days. The Portuguese coach does not yet seem set on his starting XI, though he knows where he is edging towards.
"That is a good thing and it's supposed to be like that," he said. "This is the normal thing.
"I need to think and the players need to fight during the week to change my mind. I have one idea but they can change my mind during the week."
Amorim wants to see his team continue to improve after going unbeaten during pre-season. The 40-year-old conceded it was a difficult outing.
"Today was a tough match," he said, "We had some difficult moments, especially in the beginning of the first half and the beginning of the second half. We struggled to find the right moment to press.
"But we controlled other moments of the game. We can do better but it was a perfect game for preparation to show us where we need to improve."

Rebekah Vardy wows in holiday snaps as she enjoys second getaway in weeks
Rebekah Vardy looked tanned and extremely toned as she showed off her trim physique while posing in a tiny bikini while enjoying a sun-soaked holiday with husband Jamie Vardy and their kids Rebekah Vardy showed off her trim figure as she posed in a tiny bikini while enjoying a family holiday. The notorious WAG is currently on a lavish trip to a mystery location with her husband Jamie Vardy and their children. Rebekah, 43, wasted no time in showing off her tan and her toned body as she posed in a mirror in the white cherry print bikini from Oh Polly. Covering her face with her phone for the mirror selfie Rebekah wrote: "Such a cute bikini from @ohpollyswim." She also posted pictures on her social media of her children enjoying themselves on a day trip to a waterpark. Rebekah and Jamie share daughters Sofia, 10, and Olivia, four, and son, Finley, seven. She is also mum to Megan, 19, and Taylor, 14, from previous relationships. The trip is Rebekah's second holiday in the past few weeks, after she also went away with Jamie and his fellow footballers Harry Maguire and James Maddison in July. Jamie and Rebekah had been making the most of their £9.7million villa in the Algarve. Meanwhile, Jamie remains without a football club following his exit from Leicester City at the end of last season. He has been linked with a host of clubs including Wrexham, Manchester United and Saudi sides. There is also reported interest from the US MLS. Rebekah sent fans into a frenzy last week when she shared a picture of her children wearing Inter Miami shirts, leading fans to believe Jamie could end up playing at the club which is co-owned by David Beckham alongside icons such as Messi in the coming weeks. However, any rumours of a transfer have been rubbished. According to Mail Online, a source close to the club said: 'No one at Inter Miami will have heard of him, they just signed Rodrigo de Paul who won the World Cup with Argentina. It was nice of them to buy the kits though.' In recent years, the Vardys have let out their cherished villa on the exclusive golf resort of Quinta do Lago for up to £30,000 a week, but they've now reluctantly decided to put it up for sale. However, a friend of the couple told the Mirror: "They are selling the Portuguese pad - and are looking at different holiday places now. They had some great times there, but just decided it was time for a change. It's actually laughable for anyone to think it has anything to do with the court case. Nothing could be further from the truth. And that's shown by the fact that they are looking for a new holiday pad." The property has been listed for sale with high-end estate agents Knight Frank, carrying an impressive £9.7 million price tag. Although prices have surged in the Algarve recently, by as much as 16 per cent according to some estimates, the Vardys' villa is certainly priced on the 'optimistic side', according to one agent who spoke to MailOnline under the condition of anonymity.

Everton ramp up Jack Grealish transfer bid with Man City star 'keen' on switch
Jack Grealish faces little future with Manchester City under Pep Guardiola but one of their Premier League rivals could offer the England man an escape route from the Etihad Stadium Everton have cranked up their efforts to sign Jack Grealish as he aims to revive his career. The Manchester City winger faces little future at the Etihad Stadium having been told to leave by Pep Guardiola. Grealish was axed from the City squad for the Club World Cup in the USA. With the new season now just a week away, the 29-year-old is yet to find a new club but it appears that Everton could offer him a way out. According to The Times, David Moyes ' side are upping their attempts to take Grealish to Merseyside. They are keen to sign him on loan and further conversations regarding an agreement have recently taken place. City are aiming to recoup as much of Grealish's £300k-per-week wage packet as possible, a demand that Everton are seemingly open to meeting. The winger is also open to a move across the north west. Speaking about Grealish's future earlier this summer, Guardiola said: 'It was a conversation between him and the club and they decide. Jack is an exceptional player, the only reason why he didn't play last season is of course my decisions, and we decide that he has to play - and the club was honest, he was honest. 'We decide the best is that he has a place that he can feel he can play and come back to be the player that he was in the year of the treble or all his career at Aston Villa; without him it would have been impossible or more difficult to achieve the treble. 'The fact is the last two seasons he hasn't played much minutes and he has to come back to play and get the butterflies back in his stomach that he can play every three days and show again the quality that he has.' Grealish could become Everton's sixth signing of the summer should a move go through. They have already completed deals for Thierno Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Villarreal and Chelsea respectively. Adam Aznou and Mark Travers have also completed moves, while Carlos Alcaraz's loan from Flamengo was made permanent. Moyes' side also retain an interest in Southampton 's Tyler Dibling - the youngster having missed the Saints' Championship opener against Wrexham on Saturday. Everton commence their Premier League campaign next weekend against newly-promoted Leeds United. Meanwhile, Man City kick off their campaign against Wolves at Molineux.

Everton ‘close in on Jack Grealish loan transfer with Toffees ready to pay huge portion of £300,000-a-week wages'
EVERTON are closing in on a deal to land Jack Grealish on a season-long loan, reports suggest. Grealish, 29, has been deemed surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. But after struggling for game time last season, the England international is hoping to reignite his club career to earn his place back in Thomas Tuchel 's plans for the World Cup. And according to The Times, Grealish is closing in on a transfer to join David Moyes ' Everton. One of the main issues has been the former Aston Villa star's £300,000-a-week wages - possibly amounting to a package worth at least £12million. However, the Toffees will not let that be a sticking point as talks have continued with the belief Grealish is willing to move. Grealish has struggled to contribute goals at City in the way he did with Aston Villa, often being used as a foil to bring the ball upfield and win fouls in the final third rather than as the primary attacking threat. But if David Moyes is willing to unleash him in the way the Villans did, Grealish may be able to return to the levels seen during his time in the West Hidlands. Man City left Grealish at home during the Club World Cup and repeated that act for a pre-season friendly today in Italy against Palmero. Guardiola fielded two completely teams across the halves of football as the Cityzens triumphed 3-0, courtesy of a 25th Erling Haaland strike and a second half brace from Tijjani Reijnders. Everton have thus far signed five players this summer, including spending big money on Thierno Barry from Villarreal and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea. They have also seen three bids, the latest of which came out to £37m including add-ons, rejected by Southampton for Tyler Dibling. Jack Grealish has gone from eye-catching showman and heartthrob to miserable bench warmer - and I know who's to blame The 19-year-old was left out of the Saints squad to face Wrexham in their Championship opener - which they won 2-1. Southampton countered by demanding a package of £45m plus £5m in add-ons and a 25 per cent sell-on clause. Everton open their season with an away trip to newly-promoted Leeds before hosting Brighton in their first competitive fixture at the new 52,000-capacity Hill Dickinson Stadium. Meanwhile, Man City travel to Wolves on the opening weekend before hosting Tottenham at the Etihad.
