Coronation Street star Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain in the ITV soap, has been showing her support for some of her new castmates as she also teased fans with a 'busy' update
Coronation Street's Sydney Martin has given fans a glimpse into her 'busy' life while showing support for the soap's fresh faces. Best recognised for her portrayal of Betsy Swain on the ITV soap, Sydney joined the Corrie cast last year, achieving her major television breakthrough after previous auditions for different parts in the show.
Hailing from Rossendale, Sydney was officially introduced as Betsy Swain, daughter of the well-known DS Lisa Swain, last summer, having initially appeared as a friend of Sabrina Adetiba's character.
Celebrating a year since taking on the role, Sydney shared an endearing post on Instagram, featuring a radiant selfie with a celebratory cake topped with a lit '1' candle, reports the Manchester Evening News.
In her heartfelt caption, the 23-year-old actress expressed: "1 whole year of Betsy Swain. So incredibly lucky and grateful. I [love] my job."
Sydney has now hinted at a hectic schedule for her character as she made a comeback on TikTok with a new 'haul' video. She begins the clip by saying: "Hello, long time no see!
"Work's been crazy busy which is exciting because that means there's lots of stuff coming up. But in true Sydney fashion, I thought I'd come back with a little haul."
Sydney has been indulging in some 'retail therapy' with her close mate and fellow soap star, Isabelle Smith, known for her role as Frankie Osbourne in Hollyoaks.
In her latest social media update, Sydney shared: "Hello strangers! Life's been busy busy but back with a collective haul. Sending lots of love."
Her followers were quick to show their enthusiasm. One fan commented: "We are excited for what lies ahead in world of Betsy."
Another expressed: "I love when you post! ! ! Can't wait to see on you on Corrie soon angel." A third chimed in: "Glad to have you back."
Sydney has also been spotted showing support for her new colleagues. In a recent episode of Corrie aired on Monday (July 14), viewers watched Mick Michaelis make a daring escape from prison, where he was serving time for the murder of PC Craig Tinker, all in an effort to gather his family and flee Weatherfield.
The audience witnessed Mick's desperate search for his eldest daughter, Joanie, alongside his son, Brody, after already securing the youngest Michaelis sibling, Shanice.
In a gripping sequence, Sally Metcalfe found herself on the roof of Underworld with Joanie, leading to a tense confrontation with Mick, who ultimately surrendered to the police following an apology to his frightened daughter.
Savanna Pennington, the young actress playing Joanie, took to Instagram to share some behind-the-scenes snaps, inviting fans to "Swipe for some behind the scenes..
"One of my favourite episodes yet! .. not bias. Thank you to all amazing cast and crew @coronationstreet for making it so much fun! Even though it may not look like I was having much fun I really was @thedramamob."

Gwyrch Castle announces plan to welcome back opera star Russell Watson

Gwrych Castle is hoping to amend its premises licence as it bids to welcome back a world-renowned opera singer. Bosses at the famous castle in Abergele want to welcome famous tenor Russell Watson for a special classical concert at the Grade I listed venue. The event would be made possible through a proposed variation to the castle's existing premises licence. Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox. The variation of the conditions of the castle's licence is currently under review by Conwy County Borough Council. Russell Watson was one of the stars of ITV's 2020 series of I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! The show was famously based at the castle for two consecutive years during the Covid-19 pandemic. Russell spent 18 days in the camp experiencing everything from being dunked in batter to keeping the other camp members entertained with his vocal talents. The changes, if accepted, would allow the castle to host up to four large-scale daytime events per year, with attendance exceeding 500 guests. Speaking about the possibility of returning to Gwrych Castle, Russell Watson said: 'Gwrych Castle holds a very special place in my heart after filming I'm A Celebrity there. "The thought of returning to perform in such a spectacular setting would be incredible. "I'd love to be part of bringing live music and culture to this iconic place once again.' Russell is a multi-platinum selling classical singer who rose to fame in 2001 with his debut album The Voice. Gwrych Castle says it has a strong track record of hosting inclusive, well-managed events that support heritage, community engagement, and the local economy. 'Whether it's classical concerts or Cliff Richard, being able to host just four large-scale events a year would be a huge cultural and economic boost for the region,' a castle spokesperson said. The bid calls for a premises variation, which would see the "provision of live music indoors/outdoors on Saturdays and Sundays 10pm – 1am and provision of recorded music indoors/outdoors Saturday and Sunday 10am – 1am". It also includes "provision of anything of a similar description to live music, recorded music or performance of dance indoors/outdoors, Saturday and Sunday 10am – 1am". There would also be no more than four daytime musical events per calendar year with a capacity for over 500 people. The closing date for public representations is Friday, August 28. Built between 1812 and 1822, Gwrych Castle is an imposing gothic ruin on the picturesque North Wales coastline, with spectacular sea views and impressive architecture. Public notices in your area

She made the confession on the At Home With The Thomas Brothers podcast, joining her fiance and his two brothers for the latest episode. Lucy explained: "Basically we sleep in separate bedrooms because Ryan is a nightmare sleeper." His brother Adam joked: "He's always trying it on with me," while their sibling and Love Island star Scott quipped: "He always wants a cuddle." They were all left in hysterics, with mum-of-two Lucy saying: "I mean that is annoying..." She continued: "Basically Ryan snores, he sleep talks, he whacks me in his sleep." Ryan cheekily replied: "I weren't asleep darling," leaving them in fits of giggles. TV personality Lucy then explained the reason behind their decision to sleep separately. She said: 'It's just to get a good night's sleep. And that's just become normal now. But sometimes I do sleep with Roman.' When they asked Adam if he and wife Caroline have ever slept apart, the ex Emmerdale star admitted he "couldn't imagine" not sleeping in a bed with his wife. Inside Lucy Mecklenburgh and Ryan Thomas's family trip to Disneyland Paris Although some couples believe sleeping in the same bedroom is important for their relationship, a number of celebrities disagree. Vicky Pattison and her new husband Ercan Ramadan revealed they don't always sleep in the same bedroom together. Joe Swash also confessed that he and Stacey Solomon sleep in different rooms thanks to his busy schedule. Even Richard Madeley and wife Judy Finnigan sleep separately when he has to appear on Good Morning Britain the next day. Speaking to Kate Thornton on her White Wine Question Time podcast, he said: "When I'm doing Good Morning Britain I sleep in the spare room. "I do probably sleep a little bit better in bed with Judy but I'm okay on my own. On the notion of disrupting Judy's rest, he quipped: "I wouldn't think of doing that to Judy. "Apart from anything else, Judy and her sleep, you do not mess with." While comedian Katherine Ryan revealed she doesn't share a bed with her husband – and instead sleeps "like a dog'" at the foot of my kid's bed. EMOTIONAL MOVE In February, Lucy said an emotional goodbye to her home of 11 years. The star shared a video of her packing up her London home after moving to Manchester with Ryan and their children. But as she packed away her things, Lucy shared that she struggled with the memories of the house, which was her first home after moving away from her parents and first renovation. Calling the move 'one of the most emotional weeks of her life' she told her followers: 'I really didn't expect to get so emotional, but I moved out of my home 11 years this week, that's how we spent half term.' 'It was such mixed emotions, because we outgrew this house so long ago,' she continued. 'We've made the big move to Manchester, and we're really happy, but there's so many memories I've hung on to in this house. 'I went from being single, it was my first big renovation project, it was my first real home since moving out my parents, I guess, and I bought both my babies back from hospital here.'
