Michigan starting PG leaves shortly after Elliot Cadeau's arrival

Yahoo03-04-2025
The North Carolina Tar Heels have plenty of roster questions they need to address in the transfer portal, highlighted by landing a starting point guard.
Elliot Cadeau improved over the past two seasons as UNC's starter, but he entered his name in the transfer portal and, shortly after, committed to Michigan. North Carolina is welcoming Class of 2025 combo guards Derek Dixon and Isaiah Denis, either of whom can run the point, but the need for more collegiate experience looms large.

With Cadeau's arrival in Ann Arbor followed the departure of Tre Donaldson, who started at point guard for the Wolverines. Donaldson averaged 11.3 points and 4.1 assists per game, the latter figure leading his teammates, but Donaldson knew that Cadeau's arrival means a dip in playing time for him.
Donaldson is now in the portal, announcing his decision to enter it on April 1 – and the Tar Heels should seriously considering adding a guard of his experience to their roster.
Not only did Donaldson average career highs during Michigan's run to the Sweet 16, but Donaldson has previous Power 4 experience, playing his first two collegiate seasons at Auburn. Donaldson thrived in his first year under Dustry May, starting all 37 games for the Wolverines.

It's not often you see two teams swap point guards, as larger deals are typically involved, but we're talking about the collegiate transfer portal here. There isn't any reported interest between Donaldson and UNC, but he'd be a great 1-year rental in Chapel Hill.

Former Alabama star emerging in trade rumors ahead of 2025 NFL season

According to reports, a former Alabama Crimson Tide running back is emerging in trade rumors as we inch closer to the 2025 NFL season. Per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Brian Robinson Jr. did not play in the Washington Commanders' 31-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, a mutual decision between the former Alabama standout and the team. Garafolo also reported that a trade before the 53-man roster cut "remains a possibility." A former third round pick by Washington in the 2022 NFL draft, Robinson has started 37-of-41 games across each of the past three seasons with the Commanders, rushing for a combined 2,329 yards and 15 touchdowns on 570 attempts. Robinson also has a combined 65 receptions for 587 yards and five touchdowns during that span. Last season, Robinson had likely his best season in the NFL yet, rushing for 799 yards and eight touchdowns on 187 attempts. Starting 13-of-14 games, Robinson also had 20 receptions for 159 yards. Could the former Alabama running back potentially be on the move in the coming days? Four Alabama players named to AP 2025 preseason All-America Team

Announced on Monday, Alabama had four players named on the 2025 AP Preseason All-America Team. Offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor and wide receiver Ryan Williams were both named to the first team, while center Parker Brailsford and defensive tackle Tim Keenan III were named to the second team. Ryan Williams is a sophomore who took college football by storm last year. He had 48 receptions, 865 yards, and eight touchdowns. Williams is a deep threat on the outside for Ty Simpson and the Alabama offense. Kadyn Proctor is a massive 6'7 366 lb. left tackle. He will be protecting Ty Simpson's blind side and is a top 10 draft pick according to ESPN's 2026 NFL Mock Draft. Parker Brailsford is considered one of the nation's top centers and was recently named to the Rimington Trophy watch list given to the nation's top center. Brailsford started all 13 games for the Tide last season and had 63 knockdown blocks and gave up just 0.5 sacks. Keenan will anchor the Tide's interior defensive line this season. Keenan recorded 40 tackles, 7.5 TFL, and 2.5 sacks last season. He has been named to the Nagurski and Bednarik award watch lists, both given to the nation's top defensive player.
