Janhvi Kapoor ‘Likes' Reel Claiming Madhuri Won Award For ‘Vulgar Step' While Sridevi ‘Ignored'
Last Updated:
Janhvi Kapoor 'likes' viral reel shading Madhuri Dixit while praising Sridevi. Reddit reacts with jabs about 'algorithm likes' and accidental support.
Janhvi Kapoor has found herself at the centre of an unexpected controversy online. The Mr. & Mrs. Mahi actress recently liked an Instagram reel that compared her late mother, legendary actress Sridevi, to Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit and social media users have been quick to react.
The viral reel splits the screen between two performances. On one side, Madhuri Dixit's iconic dance sequence Dhak Dhak Karne Laga from the film Beta plays, with overlaid text alleging she won the Filmfare Best Actress award for a 'vulgar step" and 'doing nothing." On the other side, Sridevi is shown in Khuda Gawah, portraying a dual role. The text claims she was 'ignored" for delivering a 'landmark performance" that carried the film.
Janhvi's like on the post hasn't gone unnoticed. A screenshot showing her Instagram handle among those who liked the reel is now going viral, particularly on Reddit, where fans and critics alike are debating the implications.

Many online users are accusing her of indirectly shading Madhuri while trying to boost her late mother's legacy. 'Even she will come up with the algorithm story now," one Reddit user wrote, referring to the recent controversy involving Virat Kohli and Tamannaah Bhatia, who claimed their Instagram accounts 'accidentally liked" a reel featuring Avneet Kaur and Deepika Padukone, respectively.
Another comment read, 'Wait for her to join the Kohli-Tamannaah gang of accidental like posts." A third added, 'Yes, Madhuri's Beta was a hit, and she performed brilliantly. But acting-wise too, she earned that award. It wasn't just a dance number."
Others took a more sarcastic tone, with one user joking, 'Another victim of the algorithm pandemic… hoping Instagram comes with a vaccine soon."
Janhvi Kapoor has not issued a statement addressing the viral post or whether the like was intentional. However, with screenshots continuing to circulate and Reddit threads filling up with speculation, it's clear the internet isn't buying the 'accidental like" excuse just yet.

Taylor Swift just bought her masters back—Travis Kelce's reaction proves he's her biggest supporter yet
Taylor Swift finally wins the masters battle—Travis Kelce's support makes the moment even more iconic (Credit: TAS Rights Management) Taylor Swift has once again rewritten the narrative of her career—this time, by achieving what many artists only dream of. After years of legal battles, heartbreak, and sheer determination, Swift has officially reclaimed the master recordings to her first six albums. With this move, she now holds complete control over her entire discography for the very first time, marking a monumental victory in both her personal journey and the broader fight for artists' rights. Taylor Swift finally wins the masters battle—Travis Kelce's support makes the moment even more iconic In a heartfelt note to fans, Swift didn't hold back on the emotional toll the battle had taken. 'I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away,' she wrote. 'But that's all in the past now. All of the music I've ever made … now belongs … to me.' These words reflect the deep wounds left by a system that often deprives artists of ownership over their own work. The saga began in 2019, when Swift's former label, Big Machine Records, sold the masters of her first six albums to music executive Scooter Braun—an outcome she famously described as her 'worst case scenario.' Swift had not been given the chance to purchase her catalog outright; instead, she was offered a deal to "earn" each album back one by one—a proposal she flatly refused. Since parting ways with Big Machine, Swift has strategically released all her new music under Republic Records, a label that allowed her to retain rights to her new master recordings. But that didn't stop her from going back to reclaim what had been taken. With the release of Taylor's Versions of Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989, she began the bold journey of re-recording her earlier albums—a powerful statement that ownership matters. In her latest message, Swift acknowledged the unwavering support of her fans. 'To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it,' she admitted. 'I can't thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now.' Owning master recordings is no small feat in the music industry. It grants the artist control over how their work is used, licensed, and shared, which in Swift's case, protects her legacy from unwanted commercial exploitation. As expected, her partner Travis Kelce was quick to show his support. The NFL star liked her Instagram post moments after the announcement, while his teammate, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, also joined in by reposting the news on X. Their public gestures not only spotlight the couple's mutual support but also underline how deeply Swift's triumph resonates beyond the music industry. With her masters finally in her hands, Swift has not only reclaimed her past but redefined the future of artistic ownership. Unni Mukundan's Ex-Manager Blames Actor's ‘Frustration' For Fallout: ‘He Isn't Getting Work'
Last Updated: Vipin Kumar strongly reacts to Unni Mukundan accusing him of blackmail and taking undue credit for the 2024 film, Marco. He also reveals Unni is frustrated due to no work offers. It seems like the controversy surrounding Unni Mukundan and his ex-manager Vipin Kumar isn't going to die down anytime soon. According to a new report, the actor has filed a complaint with the Kochi police, alleging that he has been getting death threats from Vipin. Prior to this, Unni had denied assault claims by Vipin for praising Tovino Thomas' Narivetta that apparently didn't sit well with Unni. He, in fact, stated that it's a plot and propaganda by Vipin to sabotage his friendship with Tovino. Reacting to Unni's statements, Vipin exclusively tells News18 Showsha, 'This has got nothing to do with any propaganda. His allegations are ridiculous and I deny them. I've no intention to create a rift between these two actors. I want to reiterate that there's no animosity between them. I never said that they're fighting. This has got nothing to do with Tovino. I don't even know if there was any professional jealousy." On May 27, Unni further cleared the air as he took to Instagram to share a WhatsApp screenshot of his conversation with Tovino, thus proving that all's well between Unni and Tovino. Talking about it, Vipin says, 'I don't know what he wanted to show by sharing those screenshots. He wants to prove that there's no issue between them but that I'm trying to make them fight. But I'm denying it. That's not what I wanted to imply at all." Following Vipin's police complaint, Unni also accused him of blackmail and taking undue credit for his 2024 superhit film, Marco. 'It's ridiculous," exclaims Vipin. Sharing his side of the story, he remarks, 'My name is mentioned in the title credits of Marco. I worked on that film right since its initial stage. Even in 2022 when discussions were on about making the film, I was there. I was the digital consultant on that film." Vipin further adds, 'If he felt that I was given undue credit, why didn't he bring it up earlier? He's doing it now just to divert people's attention from the fact that he assaulted me. He's now also claiming that I wasn't his manager. I worked with him for free without even a contract. Everyone in the industry and the media know that I'm in his manager." Vipin, who has been Unni's manager for the past six years, reveals to us that they had a rather rocky relationship, and a part of it stemmed from the actor's professional 'frustrations'. 'He was very upset over the last few months because he was losing out on projects that he already had in his hands and not getting any new work. He was supposed to direct a film that was to be produced by Sree Gokulam Movies but it got dropped two days after the announcement was made," he says. Vipin continues, 'All this made him frustrated that he eventually began to thrust on me. I had been working with him for the last six years. All his other staff members left him because of the changes in his behaviour. I've been a friend, brother and manager to him, advising him. I've supported him for six years despite difference of opinions and his misbehaviour in public." First Published: May 31, 2025, 04:30 IST
