My boyfriend said the unthinkable in a supermarket and now I can't forgive him - am I wrong?
However, the throwaway comment wasn't a knock-knock gag - it was about her recent miscarriage.
Sharing her experience online, the woman said she collapsed in the middle of the cereal aisle after her partner mocked her loss, just weeks after she tragically miscarried at 11 weeks pregnant.
In a now-deleted post on Reddit, the young woman described a seemingly normal trip to the supermarket with her partner before things took a turn.
When he spotted a pregnant woman across the aisle, he nudged her and laughed before turning to her and saying 'could've been you if your body worked right'.
In absolute shock and clearly hurt by the comment, she detailed that her body's initial reaction was to collapse in tears.
'He carried me to the car, still grinning,' she recalled.
'Jesus, can't you take a joke? It's not like it was a real baby yet,' he cruelly uttered as they walked.
The shocking post has quickly gone viral with thousands of likes and an outpouring of support from users who were appalled by her boyfriend's behaviour.
In Australia, one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage, most often before 12 weeks.
Despite how common it is, many women suffer in silence due to shame, stigma, or a lack of public understanding.
According to a report from Assistant Health Minister Ged Kearney in March this year, it is estimated that over 100,000 families experience miscarriage annually in Australia.
Many told her to 'run, not walk' from the relationship, branding his actions cruel and unforgivable.
'Even if he didn't have a connection to the baby, he should have enough of one with the woman he impregnated to understand she is in pain,' one user replied.
'Miscarriage is something that happens to more women than we realise,' another empathised.
'It takes a long time to get over a pregnancy because of all the hormones. What he did was unacceptable and cruel.'
Hundreds of women offered their own perspective on pregnancy loss in the comments.
'No, you're not overreacting and he's not processing his grief differently - he doesn't know how to process it at all,' one said.
'He didn't have a connection to the baby like you did. It wasn't something growing inside him.'
The woman added that her boyfriend has since started sulking, claiming she embarrassed him in public.
And in an interesting twist, her best friend tried to excuse the remark, saying he simply 'processes grief differently'.
But thousands disagreed.
'Get rid of him now,' one demanded. 'And share that story Every. Single. Time someone asks you why you broke up. I am so sorry.'
'He's so immature that I don't see how an adult person could want to pursue a romantic relationship with him,' said another.
Beyond the physical recovery, many women experience grief, anxiety and depression in the months following a miscarriage, only made worse by insensitive or dismissive reactions from others.
If you or someone you know is grieving a miscarriage or pregnancy loss, help is available through organisations like the Pink Elephants support network, Miscarriage Australia and red Nose Australia.

What is RSV? The main cause of hospital admissions for children
Health experts say the UK should brace for a surge in a potentially serious virus following a record number of cases in Australia. NHS officials said that the Australian winter is often a good predictor of how viruses will spread in England. In Australia, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases have surged in recent months, and officials have said that cases have been steadily increasing in England since the start of 2025. NHS England has urged pregnant women to get the vaccine, which protects against RSV, in order to protect their newborn babies. The virus is a leading cause of death among babies and the main cause of hospital admissions for children. Kate Brintworth, chief midwifery officer for NHS England, said that while for most adults, RSV 'only causes mild, cold-like symptoms, for older adults and young children, it can lead to serious breathing problems that can end up in hospitalisation'. 'Getting vaccinated while pregnant is the best way to protect your baby from the moment they are born, and now is the time for mums to act, to make sure their babies are protected ahead of their first few months this winter, when there tends to be more bugs circulating.' Pregnant women can get the jab from 28 weeks of pregnancy onwards through their maternity services or GP surgery. Older adults aged 75-79 are also eligible for the jab, and NHS England will start inviting people to come forward in the next few weeks. Symptoms of an RSV infection NHS RSV is a common cause of coughs and colds, but some people have a high risk of getting seriously ill from the virus, including babies and adults over the age of 75. In babies, RSV is a common cause of a type of chest infection called bronchiolitis. Last week, the UK Health Security Agency published data showing the efficacy of the vaccine. It said that the jab for pregnant women can prevent 72 per cent of hospital admissions for their babies. And the vaccine is 82 per cent effective at preventing hospital admissions for RSV among older adults, UKHSA said.

Vaccine plea to pregnant women as deadly virus surges
The UK is preparing for a potential surge in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases, following a record number of infections in Australia, which often predicts viral spread in England. NHS England has observed a steady increase in RSV cases since early 2025 and is urging pregnant women to get vaccinated to protect their babies. RSV is a significant health concern, being a leading cause of death among babies and the primary reason for hospital admissions for children, though it typically causes mild, cold-like symptoms in most adults. Pregnant women can receive the RSV jab from 28 weeks of pregnancy, and older adults aged 75-79 will also be invited for vaccination in the coming weeks. Data from the UK Health Security Agency indicates the vaccine is highly effective, preventing 72 per cent of hospital admissions for babies and 82 per cent for older adults. I used various skin products from a few different brands and this is by far the best for plumping the skin. Will continue to order, already on my third bottle,' one shared. 'I was a little underwhelmed as I didn't feel this did much for me, but recently I returned to it, applying two to three layers rather than just a single layer. This has really improved my skin's hydration levels which has led to having bouncier skin that, for the first time in my life, doesn't get oily later in the day. I have also noticed that my skin appears to have a healthier glow than previously,' another shared. 'The product does what it's advertised to do without being too harsh on my skin which I absolutely love. My skin has been really sensitive recently and this tonic has actually helped to calm the irritation so my skin isn't as red or annoyed. It has also made my skin softer. It's somewhere between a serum and toner and goes on without much effort,' one said. Meanwhile, many shoppers said the only gripe they had was they wished the toner came in a bigger bottle. 'The only downside is that I find that I go through the tonic quicker than the moisturiser and cleanser. I wish it came in a bigger bottle,' one shared. 'Have enjoyed using the toner so far. I only wish that it came in a larger size bottle as I find that I run out of the toner way before I have run out of my other skincare,' another said.
