Judging by his antics Friday night, Shedeur Sanders held onto a few receipts from earlier this offseason.
Sanders made his preseason debut for the Cleveland Browns on Friday. He was named the starter despite not receiving many first-team reps in training camp. Although fans were worried he was being set up to fail, he looked sharp against the Carolina Panthers. The Colorado product completed 14-of-23 passes for 138 yards with two touchdowns.
Following the Browns' 30-10 win over the Panthers, Shedeur confronted Tony Grossi of 850 ESPN Cleveland. Apparently, the longtime Browns analyst was critical of Sanders leading up to the preseason opener.
"You always say negative stuff about me," Sanders told Grossi. "I didn't do nothing to you. I've never seen you say anything positive about me."
Sanders didn't sound angry when he confronted Grossi. He genuinely wanted to know why he was being painted in such a negative light.
A few hours after this interaction between Sanders and Grossi occurred, the latter went on social media to share his thoughts on the rookie quarterback.
"My bottom line on Shedeur Sanders' impressive debut: He put the pressure on QB2 Kenny Pickett and QB3 Dillon Gabriel to get healthy and perform next week," Grossi wrote.
NFL fans are convinced this was Grossi's official response to being called out by Sanders, albeit he didn't exactly address the elephant in the room.
"Look at Tony being positive," one fan wrote. "That was a cool moment between you two."
"The fact that we now know why he tweeted this is hilarious," another fan replied.
Next up for the Browns is a showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles. We'd have to imagine Sanders will get a few first-or-second-team reps leading up to that preseason game.
"The situations were invaluable for Shedeur and all of our offense," Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said, via Scott Procter of DNVR Buffs. "We got a third-and-1 where he had a quarterback sneak. I mean, there's just a lot of football and that's by design with him getting a ton of reps in this game, and he'll get a ton of reps next week as well. That's all part of our development of our young players."
If Gabriel and Pickett aren't cleared in time for next Saturday's game, Sanders will probably get the chance to play at least an entire half of football.

Fulham opening bid for Kevin rejected by Shakhtar Donetsk

Fulham have seen their opening bid for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Kevin rejected. Marco Silva is desperate to bolster his attack this summer, with Kevin identified as a 22-year-old scored nine goals and provided four assists in all competitions last season, and predominantly plays off the left flank. Shakhtar sources say Fulham's opening offer was worth €30million (£26m) and, as expected, was turned down. The Ukrainian giants are understood to be holding out for closer to their €50m (£43m) valuation for the Brazilian. Fulham have also shown an interest in Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, who spent last season on loan with them. Nelson is looking for a new club for the upcoming season and Arsenal are open to offers for him. The winger's preference is thought to be staying in London and he would be happy to return to Fulham. Fulham have been quiet in the transfer window so far, but their business is expected to ramp up over the coming weeks. Marco Silva's side achieved a club-record number of Premier League points last season and they reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Silva is keen to kick on this season and achieve a top-half finish, with players in the squad eager to qualify for European football.

Jose Iglesias, Jackson Merrill hit home runs as Padres beat Giants again, 5-1

SAN FRANCISCO — Jose Iglesias hit a two-run homer in the second inning, Jackson Merrill connected in the eighth for insurance, and the San Diego Padres beat the struggling San Francisco Giants 5-1 on Tuesday night. San Diego moved into a first-place tie with the Dodgers in the NL West race after Los Angeles lost to the Angels in 10 innings — a position Padres manager Mike Shildt expected his club to be for the season's stretch run. Jake Croneworth contributed an RBI single in the fourth and Jason Adam (8-3) worked out of a bases-loaded jam by getting the final two outs of the sixth for the win. The Padres took a lead in the first getting Manny Machado's two-out single followed by a double from Xander Bogaerts before Robbie Ray (9-6) was called for a balk that brought home the first run. San Francisco — which lost for the 12th time in 13 home games — tied it on Wilmer Flores' two-out single in the bottom half. Heliot Ramos broke a bat over his knee in frustration in the second following strikeouts in consecutive at-bats. The Giants dropped their fourth straight game and Ray's winless stretch reached seven starts since beating Arizona on July 3 in Phoenix. The lefty allowed four runs on seven hits over six innings, struck out four and walked one. San Diego's Nestor Cortes struck out six with one walk while giving up one run and six hits in 4 2/3 innings. San Francisco's Dominic Smith extended his career-best hitting streak to 15 games with a pinch-hit single to load the bases in the sixth and chase David Morgan. The Padres secured their season-best fifth straight winning series and improved to 8-1-2 over their last 11 series dating to July 4-6 against Texas. RHP Nick Pivetta (11-4, 2.94 ERA) pitches the series finale for San Diego, while the Giants send RHP Kai-Wei Teng (1-1, 5.40) to the mound for his second start and third appearance of 2025. ___ AP MLB:
