The Boys' Jack Quaid hints at Hughie's fate ahead of final season of Amazon show
Jack Quaid has offered fans a hint of what to expect for his character in the final season of The Boys, saying: 'It's been really cool to see Hughie get some good wins this season.'
The 32-year-old has played Hughie Campbell in the hit superhero satire since it debuted in 2019. The fifth and final season is expected to arrive on Amazon Prime next year.
Speaking to ComicBook about what fans can expect, Quaid said: 'I mean, you know, our boy's always a bit... in some peril.
'I will say it's been really cool to see Hughie get some good wins this season. And it's been really cool to see him… I think he's the most mature he's ever been.
He added: 'It's a very dark season. I mean, obviously, it's the show, but Hughie really grew into himself this season and I've been really enjoying playing that side of him. Obviously I can't say too much, but it's been a really cool experience.'
Last year Quaid, whose parents are Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, said he was 'inclined to agree' with the suggestion he's a 'nepo baby'.
He told The Daily Beast: 'I am an immensely privileged person, was able to get representation pretty early on, and that's more than half the battle. I knew the door was open for me in a lot of ways that it's just not for a lot of actors.'
He added that he has 'just tried to work as hard as I possibly can to prove that I deserve to walk through that door'.
A year earlier, When Harry Met Sally star Ryan defended her son, telling Glamour: 'That nepo stuff is so dismissive of his work ethic, his gifts, and how sensitive he is to the idea of his privilege.'
While Quaid praised his mum for her words, he said he disagrees with her that the 'nepo baby' claim 'undermines' his talent.
He said: 'My first thought was like, she's being a mom. She's being a loving mom. But I don't think she's trying to say that I'm not a nepo baby. I think she's just trying to say that, in her opinion, it undermines my talent.
'I don't think it undermines my talent. I know that I work hard, and I know I've heard 'no' way more than I've heard 'yes.' But I also know that this industry is insanely hard to break into, and I had an easier time doing that than most. Both things can be true. So no, I don't think she was trying to say that I'm not a privileged person. She knows. She must know. I think she was being a mom.'
Quaid made his debut in 2012 blockbuster The Hunger Games and, in recent years, has appeared in Plus One, Oppenheimer and the most recent Scream film. He also starred in 40 episodes of Star Trek: Lower Decks.
But it's his role as Hughie in The Boys that saw him generate a fanbase. In the series, his character is part of a team of civilians attempting to bring down increasingly deranged superheroes, including Antony Starr's Homelander.

Zoolander once said, 'I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.' Chace Crawford has been in search of what that is since he broke out of the 'pretty boy jail' he felt trapped in during and after Gossip Girl. Crawford found success after Gossip Girl, but he shared that it was far from easy. 'I think people think… actors make a ton more money and have way more agency than we actually do,' he said. However, the truth, according to Crawford, was far more frustrating. Hollywood refused to see him as anything more than a pretty boy and romantic lead. 'I was probably harder on myself than I needed to be,' he reflected. Crawford was ready to dig his teeth into darker, grittier roles and that finally happened when he was cast in Amazon Prime's The Boys. The Boys is a superhero satire where Chace plays an insecure and self-absorbed anti-hero named The Deep. 'I just remember that audition hitting my inbox, and reading the synopsis, I was like, that sounds wild,' he recalled. 'And then reading this pilot, I was like, "Oh, this is f****ing great. This is so out there and original and weird."' He connected with the character instantly. 'I know that guy,' he said. 'You know, I know a hundred of those guys, basically. So, I instantly felt confident and excited about my take on the character.' And then he went in to read for it and saw 50 other names on the call sheet, which deflated his confidence as he felt the casting directors probably had already cast the role with an earlier audition. The showrunner (who is also the series creator) was at every audition and that's when Chace realized he could do it. He did one dark scene and one funnier one that got some laughs out of the showrunner. He booked the role and was over the moon about it. 'It was great. I was so happy to have another job that I was excited about and that the character was so different from anything that I had done before,' he added noting that he'd finally broken out of the 'pretty boy' box that Gossip Girl put him in. Lately, Crawford has been romancing Victoria's Secret model Kelsey Merritt, 28. In an appearance on Alex Cooper's Call My Daddy podcast, Chace revealed his dating dealbreakers. He said that his dating dealbreakers were 'punctuality' and 'bad tats.' He elaborated, 'Maybe a neck-tat is probably a deal breaker for me,' he laughed, while admitting, 'It's actually never happened!'

Michael Sheen interview has fans concerned about Amazon Prime series
Michael Sheen has shed light on whether or not fans will be able to watch the eagerly anticipated finale of a controversial Amazon Prime series. The Welsh actor has featured in Good Omens since it originally premiered on the streaming platform back in 2019. Playing alongside the demon Crowley, acted by David Tennant, Sheen has captured the hearts of viewers as the angel Aziraphale. Following two seasons, a feature-length finale was shot for the last season. But after allegations of sexual misconduct were made by eight women against Neil Gaman – who wrote the book that the series is based upon – the conclusion of the Amazon Prime show seems to be on ice. Speaking to The Times, Sheen was asked about the future of Good Omens. He said: ' I really don't know what's going to happen with it. 'We were both relieved we finished the story, but that's within this really difficult, complicated, disturbing context. I hope people get to see it, but that, to a large extent, is out of our hands.' Responding to his comments, @mosie_v said on X: 'Oh dear, that doesn't sound very positive.' @jame_2206 added: 'Oh no, that doesn't sound confident…' Taking to Reddit, cjm-timelord11 said: 'I've seen a few interviews where they've said it's 'out of their hands'.
