390 check posts in border dists to prevent liquor movement ahead of elections
Patna: The Bihar Police headquarters on Tuesday announced to set up 390 check posts in 23 border districts to prevent illicit liquor movement ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. The police have also identified locations for an additional 161 check posts in bordering states. As many as 10 teams of special operations group (SOG) under the prohibition unit have been deployed to keep tabs on the liquor trade. On an average, the SOG has been recovering 75,000 litre liquor every month. Amit Kumar Jain, ADG (weaker sections), during a press conference, highlighted increased liquor seizures, arrests and strategic inter-state operations. This year till June, over 16 lakh litre liquor worth over Rs 74 crore has been recovered in the state, marking a 12% increase in average monthly seizures, compared to 2024, he said. The units are especially keeping an eye on hooch traders to prevent incidents of poisoning, even as no such case has been reported this year, added Jain. In order to curb cross-border smuggling, the SOG conducted a total of 19 operations outside the state — seven in Jharkhand, 10 in Uttar Pradesh and two in Chhattisgarh — till July 2025 this year, seizing a total of around 95,000 litre Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), and 16 large and six small vehicles, according to a release by the Bihar PHQ. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas Prices In Dubai Might Be More Affordable Than You Think Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Quote Undo The crackdown on liquor-related offences has also led to a substantial number of arrests. "This year till June, a total of 63,442 individuals have been arrested. Over 61% of them were consumers and 39% liquor traders and distributors. The police have also identified 305 wanted accused from other states and are sharing their lists with the authorities concerned," said the release, adding 13,921 liquor traders from outside Bihar have been arrested within the state since April 2016. "A total of nine death penalties and 18 life imprisonments have been given to the offenders from April 2016 to July 2025," it read. In light of the upcoming elections, the Bihar Police is actively coordinating with their counterparts and excise departments of other states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Arunachal Pradesh to curb the smuggling of IMFL. This coordination includes sharing information to identify the retailers/wholesalers. Meanwhile, the district police have been asked to ensure timely destruction of the seized liquor and photography of the process.

Outrage in China: Secretly filmed photos of Chinese women shared on Telegram chatgroups with hundreds of users
A wave of outrage is sweeping across online platforms in China following reports of sexually exploitative photos and videos of women being widely shared in encrypted Telegram chat groups with some having hundreds of thousands of users. These images and clips have reportedly been captured secretly in both private and public spaces. According to a report by news agency Reuters, the revelations – initially reported by Chinese state media – suggest that a Chinese-language Telegram forum named " MaskPark tree hole forum " distributed images of women secretly filmed or photographed in locations including public toilets. This particular group amassed over 100,000 anonymous members in China and overseas. The report detailed that some users posted private images of their current or ex-girlfriends and female family members. Disturbingly, footage of women secretly filmed using pinhole cameras in public spaces was allegedly being sold within these chat groups. Users typically rely on VPN software to access Telegram, which is blocked in the country. The Southern Daily report also revealed the existence of other Telegram sub-forums targeting Chinese-speaking users with pornographic content, some boasting up to 900,000 members. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cyprus Is Open for Investors - You Might Be Interested Cyprus Invest | Search ads Undo How Chinese people reacted to leaked private photos and videos The revelations quickly gained traction on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, with related hashtags garnering over 270 million views on Tuesday (July 26). A female victim, who remained anonymous, recounted her harrowing experience to the newspaper: "My ex-boyfriend secretly took photos of me during sex, posted my private photos to the group without my permission and publicised my social media accounts." What Telegram has to say Telegram has said that 'the sharing of non-consensual pornography is explicitly forbidden by Telegram's terms of service and is removed whenever discovered.' A spokesperson added that moderators 'proactively monitor public parts of the platform and accept reports in order to remove millions of pieces of harmful content each day.' Serious child abuse: Delta co-pilot arrested from plane in San Francisco is Indian-origin Rustom Bhagwagar; other pilot had no idea
Indian-origin Delta pilot Rustom Bhagwagar was arrested on child sexual abuse charges from a plane that he was flying after he landed in San Francisco. The Delta co-pilot who was dramatically arrested from the plane when the passengers were still on the plane after they landed at San Francisco International Airport Sunday is Indian-origin Ruston Bhagwagar. The 34-year-old pilot was taken into custody straight from the plane on charges of child sexual assault. The Boeing 757-300 touched down around 9.35 pm after a delayed second approach due to heavy fog. Enforcement officials from different agencies stormed the cockpit, handcuffed Bhagwagar, arrested him and walked him down the aisle. Another team came to take his personal belongings. While the dramatic arrest from the plane made headlines, the name of the accused was not released. Now it has been confirmed that the co-pilot is Florida's Rustom Bhagwagar. The sudden arrest from the cockpit was shocking for Rustom's co-pilot too who told the passengers that he had no idea about the arrest. The law enforcement officials, too, did not offer any explanation to either the passengers or the co-pilot. The co-pilot was not informed beforehand as that could have affected the landing of the plane and Rustom might have tried to escape had he come to know that police were waiting to arrest him as soon as he landed the plane. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The boy meets a dog on the street - no one expected what happened next. He is being held in lieu of $5 million bail. According to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, Bhagwagar is a co-pilot for Delta Airlines . Officials added that the six-foot, three-inch, 220‑pound pilot is currently being housed at the West County Detention Center. They said the arrest was made because of an ongoing investigation that began with a report of "sex crimes against a child" made in April. Delta said in a statement that Bhagwagar had been suspended, pending investigation, and that the company is cooperating with law enforcement. "We are appalled by reports of the charges related to the arrest," the airline said.
