Mahesh Bhatt left Ghulam because of Aamir Khan, says Deepak Tijori: ‘Aamir ko nahi jhel sakta main'
Deepak Tijori, who was also a part of Ghulam, recently recalled this anecdote in a chat with Bollywood Bubble and shared that Mahesh Bhatt actually quit the film because he could not work with Aamir Khan. He recalled, 'I got to know that Bhatt saab left Ghulam. He said, 'Mere se nahi hoga, Aamir ko jhel nahi sakta main (I can't do this. Can't put up with Aamir).'' Deepak recalled that it was after this that Vikram Bhatt took over as the director, and at this point, the film had already been in the making for 2 years.

In an earlier chat with SCREEN, Mahesh Bhatt shared, 'I choose to walk away from it. I told Aamir, I didn't think movies meant so much to me that I would dedicate my entire life to it. It doesn't mean so much to me and I'd be lying if I say otherwise.' Until Ghulam, they had already worked together in Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi and Hum Hain Raahi Pyaar Ke. In another chat with Radio Nasha, Mahesh shared that Aamir once spent 10 hours discussing his cap in Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi.
In an archival interview shared on the YouTube channel of Wild Films India, Mahesh had shared, 'He worked with me on Ghulam. That wasn't a pleasant experience for me. When a man is burdened by his greatness, that burden is shared by people around him. Economically, that is very difficult, especially if you're making movies with reasonable budgets.'
Aamir Khan was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, which released after the colossal failure of Laal Singh Chaddha. As per Sacnilk, the film has already earned over Rs 154 crore.

‘Imran Khan had 3,000 girls waiting for him': Vir Das recalls Delhi Belly shoot, the moment where he almost hung himself
It's been 14 years since Bollywood's most twisted, out-of-the-box, downright diabolical comedy, Delhi Belly, was released in the theatres. The story, its treatment, the characters, and the music were all revolutionary, and the film has now gained cult classic status. Comedian Vir Das, who is still basking in the glory of his recent Netflix special, recently sat down with director Abhinay Deo and writer Akshat Verma to discuss the film and break down some of its most iconic scenes, while also discussing some anecdotes about producer Aamir Khan. The trio sat down to discuss the hilarious apartment scene with Vijay Raaz, but before they could get to that, Vir talked about how working with Imran Khan was quite a unique experience due to the fact that his fame had broken the stratosphere after starring in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He said, 'He had just done Jaane Tu, and everywhere we would go to shoot the film, there would be at least 3000 girls waiting to see him. We used to share the same vanity van, so the door would open and I would come out with my bald head, and all the cheers would suddenly subdue.' They even played some behind-the-scenes shots of Imran walking towards the set with hordes of people following him. ALSO READ: Aamir Khan attributes son Junaid's grounded mindset to his upbringing: 'Woh train se jaata hai, gaadi ki zaroorat mehsoos hi nahi karta' They finally moved to the apartment scene, and director Deo revealed something quite interesting and potentially dangerous about shooting that particular sequence. They pause at the frame where Vir can be seen hung from the ceiling with a tie, as he tries to keep his balance on a long-legged stool. Deo said that this scene could have been very problematic for Vir, as during the initial few shots, he wasn't wearing any harness. 'So I pointed this out, that during the first scenes you aren't wearing a harness. If you had lost your balance or Vijay had somehow hit the stool, well, that would have been quite a problem,' to which Vir said, 'Well, I would have hung myself, and then all of you could have just said sorry.' The three men proceed to laugh it off as Verma revealed that the film was slowly getting out of their hand financially. 'I just remember that we weren't finding a nice room for the hotel sequence, and then suddenly Aamir was like, No problem, we'll just construct it. Then later when we weren't able to find an apartment, Aamir said that we'll construct that too. I just asked, 'Aren't our expenses increasing by too much? Where is the budget for all this? Aamir just looked at me confused, and from his expressions I could tell that he was thinking, 'Who is this poor man on my set?''

Vidhu Vinod Chopra says distributors in South India rejected Munna Bhai MBBS, recalls being told ‘this film won't work'
With successful credits for films such as 3 Idiots, PK, Sanju and more, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is one of the most seasoned filmmakers in Bollywood. In a recent interview with Screen, the filmmaker recalled how his film Munna Bhai MBBS was rejected by distributors in South India—but the film still made him rich. Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi's still from Munna Bhai MBBS. Vidhu Vinod Chopra on how Munna Bhai MBBS made him rich Vidhu revealed that nobody bought Munna Bhai MBBS outside Mumbai and said, "Munna Bhai MBBS opened to empty theatres. Munna Bhai MBBS is the movie that made me rich, but that's because nobody bought that film outside of Mumbai. I had a distributor in the South of India, who had bought Munna Bhai for ₹11 lakh. In those days, they used to take delivery. So he came to take delivery four days before the film's release. When he saw the film, he said, 'Sir, this film won't work even for a day. Nobody outside of Mumbai would get the language of Munna Bhai'.' He added, 'The bottom line is I had no distributor for South India. I had friends—Shyam Shroff and Bala Shroff—who had a company. There was a cinema there, and I got just one morning show at 11 am in Chennai. I sold my print there for ₹5 lakh. My final business from that one centre was over ₹1 crore. Nobody went to see the film the first day or the second day. But when you do good work, (it'll pay).' About Munna Bhai MBBS Directed by Rajkumar Hirani in his directorial debut and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film stars Sanjay Dutt in the titular role of Murli Prasad Sharma, aka Munna Bhai—a kind-hearted Mumbai gangster who decides to pursue a medical degree to fulfil his father's dream, by fraudulently gaining admission to a medical college. As Munna fumbles his way through medical school, he challenges the rigid and often cold healthcare system with his compassion and 'jadoo ki jhappi' (magical hug), transforming the lives of those around him. The film also featured Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Gracy Singh, and Sunil Dutt in key roles. The movie was a massive success and marked the beginning of the beloved Munna Bhai franchise, with its sequel Lage Raho Munna Bhai releasing in 2006.
