Pete Wicks says ‘I can't do it' as Sam Thompson addresses ‘girlfriend rumours'

Daily Mirror24-07-2025
Former Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson has spoken-out after reports he has started dating against just weeks after he split from former Love Island star Samie Eilishi
Former Strictly Come Dancing star Pete Wicks admitted 'I just can't do it' as best friend Sam Thompson addressed 'rumours' that he has a new girlfriend. It came after a social media post from Love Island contestant Helena Ford emerged on X.

Helena, who was coupled-up with Harry, posted a racy tweet about the former Made in Chelsea star in 2017. Recent reports however have suggested that Sam has begun dating a new girl.

Earlier this year he had been linked to former Love Island star Samie Elishi, but the pair are said to have split a couple of weeks ago. The Daily Mail claims Sam, 32, has recently been dating holistic nutritionist Steph Robinson.

It prompted Sam to joke that he couldn't follow through with Helena's racy message. Speaking to Pete on their Staying Relevant podcast, he said: 'I couldn't do that anyway because apparently I have a girlfriend now as of yesterday's press articles.'
Pete however urged Sam to 'leave it out'. He said: 'Do you really want to cover this one again? Because I'm going to be honest with you Sam, this podcast was meant to be about you and I but what it is is just your right to reply every week for the new person that you're dating.

'It's incredible, it is utterly, utterly incredible. I think we leave this one out and hope it goes away. I cannot go through another, 'We're just friends and I'm not dating at the minute', and then hearing about you going on four dates at the weekend.
'I can't do it anymore, I honestly can't do it. It's just utterly mental.'
According to the MailOnline, Sam has grown close to Steph, who boasts 170,000 followers on TikTok. She is said to offer expert tips on wellness, gut health and nutrition.

Sam is said to have declared he is 'not ready' to start dating again after his split from Samie. In a previous podcast episode, he said: "I'm going to work on myself. No dating, I'm not ready and I've realised that."
He said his sister Louise hopes he would date someone like Harry Potter star Emma Watson. He added: 'Louise thinks I should go out with Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in Harry Potter."

Pete joked: "I think you have more chance with the ginger fella." Sam then added: "Ron! No, Louise thinks I should go for British thespian because she thinks its a little different, classy is the wrong word, but well to do."
Sam had been in a long-term relationship with former Love Island contestant Zara McDermott, but the pair split last year. Zara has since gone public with her new boyfriend, former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson.
Sam has recently undergone a lifestyle overhaul, taking up fitness and getting a new haircut. Speaking to the MaiOnline, he said: 'Do you know what's funny? I sometimes and think, 'how s*** did I look?'
"And it's true, because I remember, and I don't mind this going anywhere, I remember looking in the mirror and going, 'Damn it man, you've got to do something about yourself.'
'So I just went to the gym a little bit, sort of like started buying some clothes had a haircut, and then you're like, 'God, I feel so great'. I really, really do. I feel awesome, I'm so happy, which is so nice."

Piers Morgan told to 'have a day off' after accusing Beyoncé of 'cultural appropriation'

Former GMB presenter Piers Morgan was accused of 'attention-seeking' after sharing a post about Beyoncé's new jeans advert Piers Morgan was told to 'have a day off' as he shared yet another controversial post, this time accusing Beyoncé of cultural appropriation. The former Good Morning Britain presenter, who stormed off the ITV set before quitting the show, is known for his outspoken views that have often landed him in hot water. ‌ This time, the 60-year-old took to his X/ Twitter account to share a picture of Beyoncé rocking a full denim outfit in a new advert for Levi's jeans. The award-winning singer posed in a bedazzled denim crop jacket and equally bedazzled jeans for the photo, which was shared on the brand's social media page. ‌ She rocked curly blonde hair in the snaps and completed the outfit with silver shows. While most people loved the advert, Piers couldn't help but hit out at her, claiming she was trying to 'culturally appropriate' Marilyn Monroe. It comes after Taylor Swift sparks engagement rumours as fans spot Travis Kelce's lock screen. ‌ His criticism comes extremely soon after Sydney Sweeney received backlash for her American Eagle advert, which had her saying she had 'great jeans'. In the advert, she said: "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair colour, personality, and even eye colour. My jeans are blue." ‌ A voiceover then adds: 'Sydney Sweeney has great genes." In the US, American Eagle's billboard ads show the word 'genes' crossed out and replaced with 'jeans'. While some think the campaign is harmless, many say it taps into the ideology of eugenics - the belief that the human race could be 'improved' by increasing the presence of traits considered desirable, traits historically linked to whiteness. ‌ Meanwhile, Piers used the heightened tension regarding the recent advert to share the picture of Beyoncé's advert and wrote: "Very disappointed to see Beyoncé culturally appropriate Marilyn Monroe in her new Levi's ad." Fans hit out at his antics, with one writing in the comment section: "Have a day off," and another posting: "A white British man talking about cultural appropriation. The jokes. They write themselves." Another commented: "Do you understand.. Words? Do you know what culture means?" while one simply pointed out: "Attention seeking ting Piers?" ‌ One person reminded the TV presenter Marilyn, real name Norma Jeane Mortenson, wasn't a natural blonde and another posted: "Marilyn Monroe is not a culture she's a person and she didn't invent blonde hair either lol." Even Dionne Warwick said: "Getting involved in women's business again, I see…" before Piers responded: "Oh not you too, Dionne… it was a JOKE!" He defended himself in another tweet and claimed: "I would say I can't believe anyone took my obvious Beyoncé joke post seriously… but I forgot the woke brigade have zero sense of humour."
